Some of my favorites: Milk, Brokeback Mountain, Latter Days, Shelter, A Single Man, Prayers for Bobby, Velvet Goldmine, Maurice, CRAZY, Juste Une Question D'Amor, The War Boys, Straight Jacket, Leo's Room, From Beginning To End, Touch Of Pink, Mambo Italiano, Breakfast With Scot, Prom Queen, East Side Story, Burn The Bridges, Make The Yuletide Gay, Wilde, Testosterone, Trick, Wilde, The Curiosity of Chance etc.
I'd probably say that the 10 first movies I listed are my faves though.

ive watched a bunch of great gay movies, but i tend to really enjoy the more light-hearted ones that DONT deal with massive and depressing rejection, aids and death, suicide, and drug abuse.
tho those generally are what "good" movies are made of, sometimes i just wanna enjoy a movie as entertainment and purely as entertainment, so among the ones i like to re-watch are:

Latter Days was a great movie, though I don't get the rush from Steve Sandvoss that many other guys seem to have.
Maybe part of the attraction people have is to his character? Which wouldn't have much alure to me. I married a pastor's son, so I already crossed that taboo off my list.

It really is. It does such a great job of portraying the unexpected self-discovery aspect of coming to terms with homosexuality - the confusion, excitement, fear, pain, acceptence, etc. - in a way that is as close to reality as I've seen in a movie. Subtle in all the right ways without ever feeling over the top. I connected very strongly with the main character's struggles, poor decision making, and personal growth and I think a lot of other people would too.

I don't think I've seen one that I truly *loved*, to be honest. Most of them are so depressing.
Shelter was okay. Not a total downer, but not exactly inspiring.
Big Eden was the most boring drivel I'd ever seen. I've always though Arye Gross was cute, but he had zero chemistry with the Indian (who had the personality of a tree stump) - and what was up with the "Indian" music they played every time he was onscreen?
Redwoods was depressing as all hell.
I liked the Chad Allen films. I'd really like to see a movie with a gay power couple, where neither one of them dies, is a closet case, has AIDS, or is too neurotic to function.

Can't say I've seen too many gay movies - they usually just don't interest me (too many boilerplate romantic storylines infused with token softcore porn-esque sex scenes).
I am curious about this one I saw a trailer for, though. It was called "Breakfast With Scot."
I feel like I'd be just as lost as those two dads if I ended up with a kid like that.
I've seen it, and it's awful. Which is a shame, b/c it had the potential to be a really cute movie. Basically, you'd never know the two men are a gay couple if they didn't tell you. They act like two straight frat brothers; there is zero chemistry or anything resembling affection between them whatsoever.
Actually, I think two straight frat brothers would probably be more affectionate with each other than the supposedly gay couple in this movie. It's incredibly boring. I seriously have no idea who makes these movies.
