Favourite Gay Character in TV/Film??

You made my point. There is a middle ground between the two extremes. But it seems many gay men aren't happy with depictions of them that aren't caricatures of hyper masculinity.

Not all of us are prancing queens. Maybe we don't see enough of ourselves and to much of guys like you.

Yeah, Shelter was one of my fav movies I think ive seen it 4 times now, heh.

I enjoyed it I thought it worked universally I think 2 women or a mixed gender couple could have easly worked. Gentle drama but showed alot of social issues issues

'Justin Suarez' from Ugly Betty. Even though the character isn't 'officially gay.' There was a scene with him and his mom in a recent episode that was just wonderful.

i know he's a horrible representation of the gay community, but personally i found Brian Kinney to be an inspiration. not the whoring around thing(no inspiration needed there) but i just really liked how he was who he was, and made no apologies for it.
lived his life on his terms and really couldn't care less about what people thought of him. same with Emmett. admittedly he bugged the hell outta me sometimes, but i couldn't help but respect him.

I'm glad someone can like Brian. I just found him to be a huge asshole.

Now, Emmett on the other hand- I love! ..|:D

oh Brian was a total asshole most of the time, but that's what i liked about him. he just really didn't give a shit.

Jack from Will and Grace.

NOW WE ARE TALKING! YOU CAN SAY THAT AGAIN!!!!

Jack quote "Heterosexual marriage is just WRONG! I mean if god wanted men and women to marry he would of given them both penis's"

I COULD SO NOT STOP LAUGHING WHEN HE SAID THAT! HAHA!

Scudder from "Maurice"

He knew what he wanted and without apology went after it - and got it!

Luke Snyder. admittedly he's far from the type i usually go for, but how could anyone not fall in love with this guy? sometimes i really have to question his intelligence, but he's adorable and sweet as hell.

Precisely. He knew who he was, he was comfortable with it, and didn't feel the need to prove anything to any one.

In addition, he was the epitome of what a friend should be.

I just loved Jonathan Harris as Dr. Smith from Lost In Space. Espically when he got mad a the robot and called him a "Bumble Headed Booby"

Does anyone remember Beverly LaSalle from 'All In the Family?*' He was awesome!

*Almost all minorities really should thank Norman Lear for creating such boundary pushing shows like All In the Family, Maude, Sanford and Son, The Jeffersons, Mary Hartman Mary Hartman, Good Times and Hot L Baltimore. TV is a powerful medium and that man used it to its fullest advantage. :D

I loved Beverly LaSalle. That was so great how Edith and he were the best of friends, then when he died she was so lost after his death. Norman Lear had such a way with all his shows

Does this list include lesbian characters? If so then my favorite is definitely Alice from "The L Word". If not, I think I'd say Aaron (Steve Sandvoss) from "Latter Days".

"Jack Twist" in BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN

Would love to take him up on that "sweet life" together. :luv2:
