Resurrecting an old thread to show my love for Omar Little from HBO's The Wire. You don't mess with the King.

Perfect example of gay characters that need to start showing up more on TV and films--incidental homosexuals, if you will. For a show with a heavily-based black audience, it's amazing that Omar was arguably the most popular character on the show...but the thing about him was that he had a lot more going on for him than just being openly gay. And in that way, I think, he became a lot more relatable and acceptable to audiences.
 
At the moment, on TV, Cameron from "Modern Family" though I identify much more with Mitchell.
