Re: Charlie Hunnam Out of 50 Shades

I'd like to see the movie not be made; I'm very happy that he decided he's already apart of great things.

Re: Charlie Hunnam Out of 50 Shades

I'd like to see the movie not be made …

^ This is how I feel.

I wanted Matt Bomer. But, at the same time, I recalled plenty of failed erotic films in which the sex was unconvincingly over the top and mocked. This was from stuff in the 1990s, like Basic Instinct and Showgirls.

Hollywood has been shitty in executing sexual content where the actors get nude and have to depict sex. It gets played like as if it's embarrassing. Sex is joyous, exciting, and yet it can be so many things in addition to that. There are possibilities. Instead, Hollywood has treated the portrayal of sex like sex is to derided. So, I'm not surprised this 50 Shades project hasn't attracted brand names [actors/actresses]. I'm not surprised Charlie Hunnam has dropped out.

I wish Mr. Hunnam well.

Someone with a very large penis! Find a European actor... they'll drop trou! :D

Charlie Hunnam drops out of 'Fifty Shades of Grey'

Sons of Anarchy star Charlie Hunnam will no longer play Christian Grey in the film version of Fifty Shades of Grey. According to a statement from the studios behind the film, “The filmmakers of FIFTY SHADES OF GREY and Charlie Hunnam have agreed to find another male lead given Hunnam’s immersive TV schedule which is not allowing him time to adequately prepare for the role of Christian Grey.”

The season 6 finale of FX’s Sons of Anarchy began shooting Oct. 11, one day before Universal Pictures and Focus Features made the announcement. Fifty Shades of Grey is due to hit theaters Aug. 1, 2014.

Fifty Shades of Grey author E L James responded briefly on Twitter: “I wish Charlie all the best. x,” she wrote. (It’s unclear whether her tweet 17 minutes before that one was related: “Okay girls and boys – hold on to your hats – it’s about to get serious…”)
Hunnam recently spoke to EW about the film for the Sons of Anarchy cover story now on newsstands: “There are so many fans of that book and I know that on the surface, I’m probably not what everybody imagined,” the actor admitted. “Because reading is so personal and people bring a character to life in their imagination, they feel ownership over that character. That’s daunting if I allowed myself to think about it too much. I’m taking it very seriously and intend to explore the nature of who this character is, what motivates him — and also dress up nice and look good in those suits.”

Erotic movies don't do well because so much has to be cut out to get a R rating.

Sharon Stone was the queen of the erotic films in the early 1990s, I remember Basic Instinct when I was a kid and I also remember Sliver with Billy Baldwin. Although critics trashed Sliver the movie did well at the box office and made a lot of money.

Studios just don't take the risk with erotic films these days.

Basic Instinct the first movie did very well and Showgirls is a camp class I think it did okay at the box office.

It is true though Erotic films just haven't taken off at the box office, the USA film system is too puritan that the explicit sexuality often has to be toned down.

Will you watch Fifty Shades Of Grey?

Can gay men be interested in straight erotic movies?

Option 1

Oh, it's you.

Go away, you.

Re: Will you watch Fifty Shades Of Grey?

How about I just have no interest in 50 Shades of Grey at all? It's porn for women.

Re: Will you watch Fifty Shades Of Grey?

Option 5: god created the DVR so one could zip though silly movies to get to the gratuitous naked hot guy.

Re: Will you watch Fifty Shades Of Grey?

Nah. if the movie is mostly erotica, I won't watch it if it's straight. If there was a gay version, I might consider it :)
I'm not really that big into bondage though.

Re: Will you watch Fifty Shades Of Grey?

there's no one in it that I care to see naked---and girl fantasies are not usually my thing.

It's not even porn for women into bdsm. I'm not sure who it's for, really. Straight, severely sexually repressed women with really bad emotional problems from what I can tell. Reminds me a bit of Twilight, actually.

-Wouldn't watch it myself, I had enough trouble not ripping 50 Shades to shreds the writing was so bad. All the bits of the writing were bad, from character development to sentence structure. ~Shudders~

Re: Will you watch Fifty Shades Of Grey?

My straight female friends love it and I'm pretty sure they'll be standing in line to see this porn/erotica/vajayjay juicer.

Fifty Shades of Grey was written as Twilight fan fiction. It was then changed when it was going to be published as it's own work to avoid copyright issues.
