Finding Darin

Scott don't worry about it. We can wait. I'd rather see you get well, so get some well deserved rest.
Thanks
Ken

Hey guys,
Thanks for your patience. This has been a bad flu season. I started with a sore throat a week ago Saturday. That turned into some serious vertigo on Tuesday. After a trip to the med center, I went back to work on Thursday for one night. On Friday, the intestinal part kicked in. I'm finally feeling much better and got the next chapter done. Like I said, I'm working toward wrapping up this story although there's a lot more I'd like to see the boys accomplish. I hope you're still enjoying their tale as much as I really am enjoying telling it.

Thanks again,
Scott

Part 26

"What time is it?" Darin asked as he lay in bed with Brady cradled in his left arm. It had been a long day and their friends had left after helping to move most of the furniture from the garage. All that remained were a few boxes that the two were confident they could handle on their own.

Rolling to his left, Brady studied the alarm clock for a few seconds. "Just after one," he replied, yawning. He quickly snuggled back next to Darin. "This is my favorite part of the day," he added, yawning again and resting his cheek against Darin’s shoulder.

"I know, me too," Darin said, trying to stifle a yawn of his own. He kissed the top of Brady’s head and hugged him tighter. "I can’t believe how much we got done today."

"Yeah, I figured once everybody got in the pool, that would be the end of it," Brady said. "The guys did almost as much after we ate dinner as they did before."

"I think we all needed the break," Darin said, stretching. "Did Tim say where they got those steaks?"

"He said they stopped at that little market over at the junction," Brady yawned again. "Those were great, weren’t they?"

"They sure were," Darin agreed. "I want to stop there tomorrow and check out the place."

"Oh, for sure. I made a list of things we need to get. Is there anywhere else you want to go?"

"Steve told me about a used furniture place that has a commercial size washer and dryer for sale," Darin replied, yawning yet again. "I want to stop there too."

"Oh, I love places like that," Brady said. "We have to make sure and thank the guys for all their help too," he added.

"Oh, absolutely. Hey, what were you and Adam talking about when you came out?"

"Nothing much."

"Damn, can you believe the body on that boy?"

"I know. I’m glad he quit shaving his chest. And, just for the record, he’s about three inches soft."

"Ooh, that is small," Darin said, shifting his position. "I wonder if it gets much bigger hard."

Brady nodded. "About the same size I am soft."

"You saw it hard?" Darin said, raising himself up on his elbow.

"Yup, he was pretty embarrassed but he stood out hard and proud." Brady giggled, adding, "It fits his body though."

"Damn! Is that what took you guys so long?"

"For your information, Smartass, we were finishing up in the kitchen," Brady answered, smacking Darin’s arm. "We didn’t do anything but I sure would have. Plus, I think he’d be interested in playing with both of us."

"I mentioned something to Steve about that while we were getting dressed." Darin settled back onto the pillow.

Brady scratched his cheek and yawned. "What did he say?" he asked, turning toward Darin.

"He said they’d be open to the idea but he wants the four of us to sit down and talk about it first. They had a guy they used to play with when they first got together who got all obsessed with Luke so, they’re careful about who they play with now."

"That’s reasonable," Brady said. "By the way, Luke shaves his entire body."

"I figured that," Darin replied, kissing Brady’s arm. "Steve’s cut and really thick."

"Luke is too. He also has a P.A. and a Jacob’s ladder. Which one of them do you think is the top?"

"Steve said they’re both versatile. What are those?"

"A Prince Albert is a ring through the head of his dick and a Jacob’s ladder is a series of rings that go from the base to just below the head on the underside of the shaft."

"Ouch!" Darin said, cringing and holding his genitals. "That had to hurt."

"He said it wasn’t too bad," Brady said, giggling at Darin’s response. "It looks really hot. I knew a guy once who had his foreskin pierced. That was kinda neat but I’d never do that."

"Me either," Darin agreed. "I might consider getting my nipple pierced though. Steve and Luke look hot with theirs."

"Luke said he got all of his done about a year ago. Steve got a P.A. at the same time but he had to take his out because it kept getting irritated. Luke said, if you look close you can still see the hole."

"I’m sure gonna like that locker room, aren’t you?"

"Uh-huh," the younger man mumbled as he drifted off to sleep.

Sunday morning began with a quick dip in the pool before breakfast. After they made gentle love in the new shower, they loaded the breakfast dishes into the dishwasher and headed off to run errands in Brady’s Explorer.

"I’ll sure be glad when we get that new water heater," Brady said as they drove onto the highway.

"I was thinking about getting one just for the downstairs shower," Darin replied, turning his notepad over to look at his list. "That way, we’ll always have hot water when we need it."

Stopping at the light at the Junction, they surveyed the area. The Junction Market sat to their right with a Texaco Speedy Mart on the diagonal corner. To the left was an empty lot that once hosted a used car dealer. Opposite the gas station was a small, boarded up building that, at one time, was a post office. Brady waited for oncoming traffic to clear before asking, "Where to first?"

"Let’s hit the used furniture place," Darin said, pointing toward the left. "It’s down here about a mile on the right."

Brady accelerated and within minutes, they were parked in front of ‘Honest Dave’s Used Furniture Emporium and Bait Shop’ and the ‘Panama Sam’s Tanning and Video’ stores. "That’s some combination," Brady said, giggling as he shut off the engine. Two women were exiting the video shop and smiled at the men while walking to their car. Brady turned to see them get into a red Thunderbird with a bumper sticker that read, ‘Save a life, Brake for small animals’ and another with two female symbols intertwined. "We’re everywhere," he said to Darin, pointing to the car.

"What?" Darin asked.

"Those two girls are family," Brady replied.

Darin looked confused. "Okay, I’m stupid," he laughed.

"It’s a polite way of saying they’re dykes," Brady said, patting Darin’s shoulder. "My word, you have so much to learn," he added, holding the door for Darin to enter the furniture store.

Once they were inside, a small woman approached and asked, "Can I help you fellas find anything?" Her smile was pleasant and she wore blue pants and a white blouse. Her straight gray hair was pulled back and tied with a scrunchy. Darin noticed that she favored her right leg a bit when she walked ahead of them to show them the washer and dryer he had asked about. "Both worked fine when they unhooked them but we don’t have any way of testing them here," she told him.

Surprised by the condition of both appliances, Darin opened the dryer door and asked, "Do you offer any kind of guarantee?" He closed the door and noted the tightness of the seal.

She smiled. "We guarantee they’ll work when you hook them up. Otherwise, they’re strictly as is," she stated. "If they need any repairs, my husband will fix ‘em but you pay for any parts."

Brady opened the front loading washer and looked inside, running his finger over the detergent and softener reservoirs. Closing the cover, he inquired, "What are you asking?"

"Four hundred for the pair," she said without hesitation. "You won’t find a better price anywhere for a set this size," she added, smiling again.

"Can you deliver?" Darin asked studying the front of the dryer, looking for any imperfections in the finish.

"Sure," she replied. "How far?"

"Just a couple miles north on Blackberry Road," Brady answered.

"The old Benson place?" she inquired, her smile returning once again. "I seen all the trucks goin’ in and outta there," she added. "I’m glad to see that place bein’ fixed up."

"We’re opening an animal rescue shelter in the barns," Brady told her, grinning.

"Oh, that’s wonderful," she said, "Now we’ll have someplace closer when folks dump cats and dogs. I hate drivin’ all the way to the county shelter."

"We’ll be offering a spay and neuter program there too," Darin added.

"That’s wonderful, she repeated. "Say, you wouldn’t be interested in an office trailer would ya?" she asked hopefully. "My husband has one that needs to be moved before the county hauls it away."

"I don’t know, where is it?" Darin replied. "I can have my contractor look at it and see if it would be easier to use it than build offices," he added.

"It’s out back. He moved it when they closed the car lot down by the junction," she said, pointing toward the back of the building. "I told him he’d never get rid of it but he just had to buy it. Now the county says it has to go and we need to sell it."

Darin looked at Brady before inquiring, "How big is it and what’s he asking for it?"

"You’d have to talk to him," she responded. "I know it’s big though. He was gonna redo it so we could live in it but it’s too big for the space we had."

A teenaged girl, wearing a yellow tee shirt under a pair of worn bib overalls, entered from the back of the store. "Hey, Gramma," she called, opening a fridge and removing a can of Mountain Dew. Popping the top, she added, "Gramps said he’d be a minute." She flopped into one of the many upholstered chairs that sat throughout the large building and picked up a television remote. After taking a long drink of her soda, she continued, "Hey, did you hear? A coupla gay guys bought the old Benson place and they’re gonna start an animal shelter."

Embarrassed, the woman said to the youngster, "Hush now, Christy."

Darin and Brady laughed. Walking over to the girl, Darin sat in another chair next to hers. "Hello, Christy, I’m Darin," he told her, holding out his hand, "I’m one of the gay guys."

The girl’s face flushed bright red while her grandmother laughed. "Gees, I’m sorry, Mister," she apologized, taking his hand and shaking it. "I didn’t mean nothin’ by that."

Smiling at her, Darin continued, "That’s okay but may I ask where you heard about us?"

Before she could answer, a short bald man, wearing a white tee shirt and striped bib overalls, entered the showroom. "Ginny," he called, "I’m back."

Moving toward the backroom, Ginny responded, "George, these fellas might be interested in that office trailer out back."

George pushed past his wife through the doorway. "That’s great," he said. Motioning for them to follow, he headed for the back door.

Darin and Brady hurried to catch up with the older man. He marched across the narrow driveway and past several other small trailers and trucks. Finally, they stood in front of a large structure. "It ain’t really a trailer," he admitted. "It’s built on a special frame so’s it can be moved but it ain’t meant to be moved very far."

Darin stepped back to view the entire length of the building. "How big is it?" he asked.

George scratched his bald head. "I think it’s twenty by eighty," he said. "I been askin’ ten for it but, if you have a way to move it, I’d sell it for forty-five. But you have to get all the permits and stuff yourself."

"That’s not a problem," Darin replied, "My contractor can take care of all that."

"Who ya usin’?" George inquired.

Darin peered through one of the windows on the front side of the office. "Bennett’s," he answered.

"Steve? He’s a good guy," George stated. "That boy o’ his is a hard worker, that’s for sure," he added, winking.

"Can we see inside?" Darin asked, stretching to grasp the doorknob and pulling the door open.

George grabbed a cement block and tossed it in front of the door for Darin to climb up. Once inside, he looked around further. He was standing in a reception area. Along the front of the structure was a long hallway, which ran toward each end. On the left were three closed doors, behind each was an office of equal size. On the right were two doors opening into the two small restrooms, a compact kitchen directly behind. Two more doors to another pair of offices could be seen beyond those doors. The interior was surprisingly clean and in good repair.

Pulling himself through the door, George pointed out, "The roof don’t leak nowhere and there’s a bathroom in the office on each end. Don’t walk around too much, it ain’t blocked good."

"I’ve seen enough," Darin said with a smile. "You said forty-five hundred?"

"That’s right," George confirmed.

Darin jumped to the ground and smiled at Brady. Turning toward George who was lowering himself to the ground, he stated, "We’ll take it. I’ll have Steve get with you tomorrow sometime to make the arrangements." To Brady, he said, "We can’t possibly build offices that would work any better than this."

When they entered the back door, Brady spotted an overstuffed sofa and chair behind a long bureau. "Oh, wow, look at that," he said, squeezing between the bureau and another chest. "Is this set for sale?" he asked George, pointing to the dark red velour covered set.

"Son, ever’thing in here’s for sale," he replied, "This place ain’t no museum." He chuckled. "I figger’d nobody’d want that old set’s the only reason it ain’t out on the floor."

By the time they left the store, they had purchased a small kitchen table with four chairs, the overstuffed sofa and chair, the washer and dryer and a six piece set of wrought iron patio furniture that was in desperate need of reworking. They had also made arrangements for Steve to come by and discuss plans to have the office moved to their property. "It’s funny," Darin said as they motored across town for a stop at Home Depot, "When Jan and I moved into our house, I didn’t want anything to do with picking out furniture. I just gave her the credit cards and told her to get whatever she wanted and everything was new."

Nodding, Brady agreed, "Yeah, this is more fun."

"I’ll say," Darin agreed. "That sofa and chair set will look great in the cottage, once we get it redone. I’m glad you spotted it."

"I’ve always liked that style. My Grandma Tortellino had a set just like that when I was a kid." Brady let out a soft sigh.

"You miss her, don’t you?" Darin asked, placing his hand on Brady’s right forearm.

Brady reached for Darin’s hand and gave it a gentle squeeze as he stopped for a traffic light. "Sometimes, she’s the only one I miss," he said softly.

When the light changed and Brady accelerated, Darin asked, "Would you like to give your folks a call?" He waited, patiently for Brady to respond.

Finally, after he had turned into the Home Depot parking lot, Brady turned to him, tears in his eyes, and replied, "I’d like that…but…"

"But, what?" Darin pressed while Brady eased into a parking space and turned off the engine.

"What if they…don’t…"

"What if they don’t want to talk to you?" Darin finished for him.

Brady nodded then said softly, "Uh-huh."

It was Darin’s turn to squeeze Brady’s hand. "Then we’ll know that, at least, you tried," he said, opening the door and stepping from the car. "Come on, let’s go get in touch with our masculine side," he joked.

Walking across the parking lot, Brady noticed a gray Silver Shadow pull into the parking lot of the Lonely Bull Steak House. "Hey, isn’t that your Uncle?" he asked, tapping on Darin’s arm and pointing toward the restaurant.

Darin turned as the car eased into a parking place near the front door. "Yes, I think it is," he replied. They watched as Uncle Spencer, his wife, Mary, and Darin’s mother, Sylvia, exited the car.

"Hey, you," Darin heard from behind them. They turned to see his cousin, Melanie and her husband, Wayne, walking toward them. "I thought that looked like you," she said.

"Hey there, Mel," Darin replied, waving. "Wayne," he added, motioning toward her husband. "What are you guys up to?"

"We had to pick up some light bulbs before we met the folks for lunch," she responded happily. "Hi, I’m Melanie," she said, extending her hand toward Brady, "I’m Darin’s cousin and this is my husband, Wayne."

Brady shook her hand and did the same with Wayne, "I’m Brady," he said.
Leaning toward Darin, Melanie punched him in the shoulder. "You really traded up," she joked. "He’s adorable," she laughed.

Brady blushed.

"You should join us," Melanie insisted. "I’m sure your mom would love to see you."

"I know, I haven’t been over to see her in a while," Darin admitted. "Have you talked to her about me?" he asked.

"Oh, please," Melanie replied, waving her hand. "She’s fine with it. As long as he’s not Janet."

"Did she actually say that," Darin asked, surprised.

"Not in so many words but, you know Awnt Sylvia. She says as much without actually saying it as anyone I’ve ever met."

Darin nodded. "That’s for sure." Turning toward Brady, he asked, "You feel up to it?"

Brady nodded and smiled. "Sure."

Turning toward Melanie, Darin stated, "Okay, we’ll just be a minute and then we’ll join you."

"I’ll give Daddy a quick call and let him know you’re going to join us," she said, punching buttons on her cel phone. After a brief conversation, she snapped the phone shut and turned to Darin. "They’re going to wait for us," she said with a smile. Then, placing her hand in her husband’s, she waved as they walked away. "Don’t be long," she called over her shoulder.

It took them about fifteen minutes to find the items they needed inside the store. While Brady parked next to Spencer’s Rolls Royce, Darin checked his reflection in the vanity mirror. "Are you sure you want to do this?" he asked while Brady brushed his fingers through his curly hair.

"I have to meet them sometime," Brady replied, "Now’s as good a time as any."

Before they entered the restaurant, Darin turned to Brady and smiled. "I love you so much," he said to the younger man.

"I know, me too," Brady responded with an equally full smile.

Once inside, they looked around to see if they could find the others. As he scanned the large dining room, Darin spotted his mother, waving frantically. As they slowly walked toward the table, Darin whispered, "You still have time to run."

"Are you kidding?" Brady whispered back, "And miss a chance to find out what you were like as a kid. No chance."

"At least she didn’t bring the photo albums," Darin joked as they got closer. "Last chance," he giggled.

Sylvia was on her feet. Dressed in her usual flower print blouse and dark knit pants, pearls and open toed shoes, she was, the stereotypical ‘Jewish mother’ featured in almost every situation comedy on television. Her perfectly styled hair and flawless makeup made her appear much less approachable than she was. "Oh, Melanie, you were right," she gushed, "He IS adorable." She grabbed Darin and gave him a tight hug as she stretched to give him a kiss on the cheek, then grabbed Brady and did the same. After introductions were dispensed with, she turned to Darin and smacked him on the shoulder. "What’s wrong with you, you can’t pick up a phone and let a person know what’s going on? I had to find out from strangers."

Darin smiled and kissed his mother on the cheek. "You did NOT find out from strangers," he protested, taking a seat next to her. "Uncle Spencer told you."

"Honey, I’m your mother," she returned, "Did you think I wouldn’t love you?"

Darin studied the menu before he answered. Finally, he offered, "It’s not that simple."

"What’s that supposed to mean?" she whined.

Smiling, Darin replied, "Face it, Ma, you’re not the easiest person to talk to sometimes. I wanted to make sure there was some future with the man before I subjected him to your scrutiny."

She stared blankly at her son. "You’re a rotten child and I should have drowned you when you were born," she said, laughing. "You’re absolutely right though." She turned to Brady and added, "I’m somewhat of an acquired taste."

Spencer cleared his throat as the server approached. "I think we’re ready to order," he told the young lady.

Steve and his crew arrived just as Darin was preparing to leave for work. While Darin explained about the office, Brady slowly drove down the long drive, beeping his horn as he passed. Both men waved. After Steve assured him he would take care of everything, Darin headed off to spend the day at his office.

Shortly after arriving, the phone on his desk rang. Answering, he noted that Jake had not appeared yet. "This is Darin," he spoke into the receiver.

"Darin, it’s Jake," his assistant said. "I won’t be in today."

"Are you okay? Do you need anything?"

"I’m fine, just not feeling up to coming in today," he sniffed.

"Is everything all right?"

Tears overtook Jake as he fought to conceal his emotions. "He’s gone," he said, softly.

Thanks Scott, great chapter!!
Poor Jake, just when other things seem to be working out this has to happen.
Hope you are fully recovered, & don't keep us too long waiting, Lol
Harry

Oh, oh, hope Jake will be alright. Great chapter and looking forward to the next. Hope you are felling better.
Thanks
Ken

Ok...i LOVE this story...I just have one tiny complaint.

I really REALLY wish he would have fought for Rodney more...I like Darin and Rodney together...basically because I've been there and it hurts like nothing else. I REALLY wish they would get back together because to me that would be a happy ending! :)

Keep up the good work! :)

MUAH!

I don't know about the rest of you but I could do WITHOUT this new format. I've sent a link to my story to several friends who might not appreciate the links. I guess that's part of the progress though. That WAS one of the things I appreciated most about this site was that you could look at the stories and forums without being bombarded with all the porn links. It's very unlikely that I'll post any more of my stories here now though.
I'm very disappointed with this new format.
Scott

:(:(:(

I'm not all that thrilled about it either, but please at least finish this story for us. I'm really enjoying it

I have every intention to see this story through to its conclusion. I feel that I owe my faithful supporters that much and I honor that commitment willingly and happily. However, I will NOT be posting any of my other stories here.

I find the links in poor taste as well as insulting. While I admit I have, in the past, sought out these types of links, I resent having to be confronted with them every time I check in. One of the things I liked most about these forums was the fact that I could choose to go to the links if I wanted to, or to the forums if that's what I wanted. Now, the two are melded together and I don't have a choice. If I want to view the stories and forums, I have to view the porn links.

Many of my friends, some straight and some gay, are following this story because it was easy to send a link for them to check it here instead of having to send the individual chapters to them. By forcing these links on us you are perpetuating the stereotype that ALL gay men think about sex ALL THE TIME. I can't speak for the rest of you but I don't and I'm particularly insulted that this site now promotes that stereotype.

Thanks for ruining an otherwise good thing.

I'm very very disappointed.

Scott

When you do post your other stories elsewhere, please tell us when and where. I really enjoy your writing and would hate to miss out.

It appears that the "powers that be" are listening (or reading in this case) and have taken my complaint to heart. I certainly hope I was not the only one to lodge a complaint and I'm happy to see that people are paying attention. I hate to throw a tantrum and have nobody notice. IF, in fact, the porn links are gone from this particular forum, I'm eternally grateful. I can, and will, continue to share my stories with my faithful readers. The last time I checked, this story has had over 8,000 hits. That is truly humbling to think that so many have read what I've written. Not many of you have posted a reply but that's okay too. I don't always reply when I read a story either. Just the fact that you are reading it makes me proud.

Hopefully, you'll be stuck with me for a long time to come. I don't know about you but I'm okay with that.

Hugs,
Scott

I'm glad you got your wish. Although I wouldn't want the site to lose money from advertising, they need to think about where they put the ads and consider the consequences. Personally, I go through the front page every now and again, and don't look at ads anywhere else on the site.

Hope to see the next part soon. :-)

Sorry guys, I know how you just hate when I put the boys into sexual situations but, I just couldn't help myself. It just seemed to fit.
ENJOY!!

FINDING DARIN
Part 27

Darin was confused. He quickly dropped into his leather chair as he tried to piece together what he had just heard. Finally he asked, "Who’s gone, David?" He pressed, not really waiting for an answer, "When?"

Jake paused as he blew his nose. "He left last night."

"Where did he go?"

"He said he was going back to Atlanta." Pausing to try and regain his composure, Jake continued, "He said he loved me but he couldn’t stay with me knowing he was still in love with Tony. He cleaned out our savings and most of our checking when he left."

"Jake, I’m so sorry. Do you need any cash?"

"I’m okay. He didn’t take all our money," Jake assured Darin. "Why should you be sorry? It’s not your fault Tony decided not to risk his relationship with Tim."

"I know but I never thought he’d leave."

"I have to be honest," Jake admitted, "We’ve been on a downhill slide for some time now. This just pushed us to our final breaking point. In a way, it’s a relief but it still hurts. Actually, I have a lot of respect for Tony."

"How so?" Darin asked.

"He could have thought about only himself but, he told David he didn’t want to do anything that might hurt me or Tim. I really appreciate that." He paused again. "David only thought about himself and what he wanted. He really didn’t consider how I felt at all. Tony talked to both of us but David just kept saying he didn’t care how I felt or what it might do to Tim. He just wanted to be with Tony again."

"So, what are you going to do now?"

"I don’t know, really. I don’t know if I can afford this apartment by myself and, with the possibility of losing my job…I’m scared."

"Don’t worry about a job. Brady wants you to think about working for us. If nothing else, we’ll get you a little trailer like Rodney’s and move you to the farm. Hell, if push comes to shove, you can stay with Brady and me for a while."

"You’d do that?"

"I sure would, no question."

"The last thing I want is for you guys to feel sorry for me though. I don’t want to get in your way either."

"It’s not a matter of feeling sorry as much as it is a fact that we care about you. You wouldn’t be in the way at all."

There was a brief silence on the other end of the line. Then, Jake sighed and said, "Darin, you are such a good friend. I don’t know if I’ve ever told you how much I appreciate your friendship."

"Don’t mention it," Darin replied. "You’d do the same for me." Before hanging up, he added, "Let me know if you need anything."

****

The work crew was just leaving when Darin and Brady arrived home that evening. After parking next to the garage, they walked over to see what progress was being made on the barns. Steve was just coming out of the south building when they approached. "Hey guys," he said, his familiar smile spreading across his face. "I’m whipped."

"It looks like it," Brady replied. "We just came to see what you got done."

"The other building’ll be ready by the weekend," Steve assured, pointing to the north structure. "I went by and looked at your offices."

"And?" Darin asked, hopefully.

"They’re just about perfect," Steve confirmed. "It’s gonna save us about three weeks of construction. The only problem I see is gonna be getting it through the field. I’m not sure it’s solid enough to support all that weight."

Darin scratched his chin. "Well, you said you wanted to put in a driveway from the road, didn’t you? Would that make it easier?" he asked.

"It’s like you read my mind," Steve quipped, taking a cardboard tube from the seat of his truck. He quickly unrolled the paper inside the tube and laid it on the hood of his truck. "I did a quick sketch of what I’d like to do and, if I can get the limestone base hauled in here on Wednesday, we can move the offices in by next week sometime. Didn’t you say you wanted to start moving in by the end of next week?"

"That’s correct," Brady said. "We absolutely have to be out of that building by the first, which is a week from Friday."

"How many animals are we talking about?" Steve inquired.

"Right now we still have twenty-four dogs and just over forty cats," Brady replied. "Oh, and six teddy bear hamsters," he added.

"As of today, there’s twenty-two dog runs complete in the other building and the cat rooms are all finished except for the doors on four," Steve began. "The plumbers are coming tomorrow to finish the shampoo rooms and put in the two bathrooms and the sinks in both feeding areas."

Smiling, Darin asked, "So, really, we could start moving in this next weekend?"

Steve nodded. "That’s what I was thinking. We can have the other eight dog runs done tomorrow and everything in that building should be able to be painted by Friday so we wouldn’t have to bother any of the dogs till after they’re settled in." He picked up his tool belt and tossed it into the back of his truck as Luke approached, pulling his tee shirt over his head and stretching it down across his chest. "You guys got vehicles to move them all with?" Steve asked, placing his arm across Luke’s shoulders.

Brady and Darin both nodded. "The board agreed to sell us one van but the others are all leased," Brady offered. "They also gave us a stock trailer and another open trailer to haul all the carriers and stuff."

Darin laughed. "Babe, they didn’t give us anything, we paid more than enough for everything we got."

"A friend of mine sells old vans from the Phone Company and post office," Luke chimed in. "He’d give us a good deal."

"I’d like to pick up at least two more vans," Darin said. "Does your friend have some now?"

"He just got a bunch the other day," Luke replied. "Some of them are really nice."

"Can you get a price for us?" Brady asked.

Luke pulled his cel phone from his pocket. "I’ll give him a call right now," he said, punching buttons. He stepped away from the others while he waited for his call to be answered.

"Would you like to see what we’ve done inside?" Steve asked as both of the others nodded.

"I thought you’d never ask," Brady piped up.

Steve led them to the north building and through a small door to the right of a large overhead garage door. Once inside, he turned and pressed a button causing the overhead door to rise, filling the space with the late afternoon light. The area was large enough to park one truck on either side of the door and still afforded enough room to store excess bags of food and other shelter supplies and tools. "This space is identical in the other building so you can bring the vans inside for unloading," Steve pointed out. Indicating a door in the center of the partition, he added, "Through there is the intake area and exam rooms. Cats to the right and dogs to the left."

"That’s awesome!" Brady exclaimed. "That way, we don’t have to take either through the other’s space."

Opening the door to the intake room, Steve flipped a switch filling the room with light. On the opposing wall were two doors to the exam rooms. "You’ll need to set these up," he said, indicating the two smaller rooms. "But, I figured, you’d want your staff to do that."

"Yeah, Cathy was asking if she could do that," Brady said. "What’s through here?" he questioned, pointing to the door on the left side of the room.

"You weren’t listening?" Darin teased, "Dogs to the left and cats to the right," he repeated.

Steve opened the door and flipped another light switch. They stood in another small room with low cabinets across the back and the wall directly in front of them. There were two small bathtubs mounted into the cabinets just below waist height. "This is the grooming room for this side," Steve said. "This way, you can get the dogs cleaned up before they go to a kennel if you want to." He opened another door, which led into the main room and switched on yet another light switch. Long rows of overhead lights flickered to life as they walked into the long room. The outside wall was lined with eighteen dog kennels, each made with, four foot high, brick dividers and a chain link gate on the front and a small door leading to the outside from each. Additional chain link fencing extended the dividers another three feet to a chain link cover over the entire length. "This side is all four by eight," he said, motioning to those units. "These over here are for the smaller dogs," he added, pointing to the twelve smaller, three by six kennels on the right side of the long narrow room. Immediately behind the exam room, between it and the smaller kennels, was another room with cabinets and space for a large, double basin, utility sink. Opening the dutch style door, Steve pointed out, "This is your feed room. I ordered six large plastic barrels for dry food that’ll go over here." He indicated a large empty space along the outside wall. "And, your food dishes, bedding and canned food can go in these cupboards up there," he added, waving toward the overhead cabinets that circled the room.

"This is better than I ever imagined it would be," Brady quipped. "I mean, when I looked at the blueprints, I didn’t realize it would be this good."

"Well, I’m kinda learning as I go," Steve joked. "I’ve had to modify my original plans a couple times."

Darin shook his head. "You never cease to amaze me," he said, brushing his hand across the plaster wall on the outside of the feed room. "Can you get all this painted and ready by Friday?"

"Oh, ye of little faith," Luke called from the doorway of the shampoo room. "Just as soon as ‘Bob the Builder’ here finishes his work, yours truly will get busy on that. If he can get his sorry ass in gear, I can have everything painted by Thursday."

"Everything?" Darin asked, surveying the enormous room.

"Have spray gun, will travel," Luke joked. "It’ll take longer to mask the floors than it will to paint it."

"Cool," Brady said. "What did you find out about the vans?"

A broad smile spread across Luke’s face. "He’s got one he’s willing to donate," he stated.

"Really? What’s the catch?" Darin asked.

"He wants his name on it. You know, ‘Special Thanks to: Metro Motors’, somewhere on each side."

"What’s wrong with it?" Brady inquired.

"Nothing, he’s just had it quite some time and he wants to get rid of it. He said he’d rather give it to you guys than try and run it through the auction again," Luke replied.

"How much is he asking for his others?" Steve piped up.

"Thirty-five hundred apiece," Luke answered. "He also knows a guy who’ll letter them for us."

"Sounds like a good deal," Darin offered. "When can we see them?"

"He’s bringing one over in about half an hour," Luke replied.

Most of the next thirty minutes was spent checking out the rest of the north building. They passed through the rooms at the front where prospective adopters could meet and get to know their new pets. Doubling back into the other half of the building, Steve showed them the cat rooms; fifteen rooms, each eight by eight and fully screened on the front and solid, carpeted wood partitions between. Each unit had a screen door with slide locks at the top and bottom. Steve pointed out the six skylights installed in the ceiling to allow the cats to enjoy the sunshine while lounging on any of the many carpeted shelves in each unit. "Depending on how many cats you want to put in each one, you could house over a hundred in this area alone," he noted. The feed room was of equal size but the entry door divided the area where the barrels would be. "Dry food on this side and kitty litter on this side," Steve said, pointing to either side of the door. "I ordered barrels for here too. They should be here by Friday. I had to make the grooming room a little smaller on this side but, I figured you could put a washer and dryer in that corner there by the door."

"I don’t think I could have planned this any better," Brady said as they examined one of the cat rooms. "This is awesome."

"I’m glad you like it," Steve replied. "It’s a labor of love," he added.

"We’ve always wanted to do something like this," Luke stated, pointing to a small mural that had been quickly drawn along the wall opposite the feed room. It showed several cats, in various human poses, playing ball and other sports in a field of wild flowers. "I was just messin’ around here the other day," he said, blushing. "If you don’t like it, I’ll just paint over it."

Darin studied the artwork and smiled. "I think this needs to stay. Can you do a similar one for the dog room?"

"He already did," Steve offered proudly. "I didn’t think to point it out. He did a sketch for the small animal and bird rooms in the other building. I think he did a great job."

"But he has to say that," Luke said, blushing.

Steve swatted at his partner. "So what if I am prejudice, I still think you did a good job."

"I have a friend who can paint them for us," Luke agreed, a broad smile spreading across his face. "I have some other ideas for some of the waiting rooms too."

Shaking his head, Darin smiled. "Is there anything you can’t do?" he asked.

"He’s can’t cook for shit," Steve joked.

Luke flipped Steve with his shop rag. "Bitch!" he whined.

The sound of a diesel vehicle being driven into the building interrupted their tour. "That must be your new van," Steve advised. "Let’s go check it out."

When they opened the door to the garage area, Brady began to laugh. Parked partially inside the door was a bright red ambulance on a Chevrolet pickup chassis. "What do you think?" Luke asked. "Cool, huh?"

"It’s kinda big," Darin replied, shaking his head.

"I think it’s awesome!" Brady offered, smiling. "What year is it?"

"It’s a ninety-one," a tall black man said as he exited the vehicle. "Only sixty-three thousand miles and as mechanically sound as it can be. I’m Ronnie," he added, extending his right hand to Darin.

"Pleased to meet you, Ronnie," Darin responded, shaking the man’s hand. "So, is this the one you’re wanting to get rid of?"

"Sure is," Ronnie replied. "I’ve had it for quite some time and I figured you guys could use it about as well as anybody. I’ll even have it painted if you want."

"I don’t know, I kinda like the red," Brady interjected. Turning toward Darin, he asked, "What do you think?"

"You’re the expert," Darin answered, "If you think it’s something you can use, go for it."

Brady thought for a moment. "Well, it’s big enough to tow the stock trailer and we could certainly use it when we have to do a rescue or to transport to the vet."

Patting his shoulder, Darin concluded, "So, we’ll take it then?"

Nodding, Brady continued, "I think we should."

Darin patted Luke on the shoulder. "Can you do some striping and mural work on the sides?" he asked.

"Really?" Luke questioned. "I’d love to."

While Ronnie showed them the different features of the retired ambulance, Brady’s cel phone rang. "Hello," he said, opening the case. "Yeah, Cathy, what’s up? When? …I don’t know, maybe thirty minutes…. Okay… You want me to meet you?…. All right, keep me posted….I’ll see you in the morning then…Bye." He closed his phone and turned to Darin. "We just got our first hoof stock," he said proudly.

"What are you talking about?" Darin asked, surprised. "What’s hoof stock?"

"A family out by Overland had a fire and has to find shelter for six goats and a calf," Brady advised. "Cathy’s gonna pick them up and put them at the shelter tonight. Once we see what they want to do with them, we’ll have to figure out where to put them here," he continued. "Like it or not, we’re open for business."

"Your big barn’s ready," Steve stated. "I just have to get some wire fencing along the north side of the pasture and I’ll do that first thing in the morning. You can bring them here tomorrow afternoon if you need to."

"But do we have any way to feed them once they’re here?" Darin quizzed.

"I can go by the feed store on my way here in the morning," Luke offered, "Just let me know what we need and I’ll pick it up."

"I’ll give you a list before you guys head out," Brady agreed.

Following further discussion, a deal was agreed upon for the purchase of three additional Chevy vans, which would be delivered the next afternoon. A young woman arrived an hour later to return Ronnie to the city, leaving the ambulance behind. While Brady and Luke went through the north building and turned off all the lights and made sure doors were locked, Darin and Steve did the same in the south building. "I hope Brady doesn’t take offense to the way Luke keeps including us in your operation," Steve said when they had gathered outside. "He’s so excited to be involved in all of this."

Brady shook his head. "I’m honored that he wants to be involved," he said with a sincere smile. "It’s nice to find somebody who shares my passion," he added, punching Luke’s shoulder.

"We can’t have pets where we live now and I think that makes him kinda depressed sometimes," Steve said softly. "I miss having a dog myself."

Darin laughed. "You can spend all the time you want with the critters here," he promised. "I’m sure we’ll need lots of help."

The sun was completely hidden behind the trees to the west of the house. "You guys have plans for dinner?" Darin inquired.

"I need a shower before I think about anything," Steve quipped, sniffing at his underarms and wiping his face on the shoulder of his work shirt.

"If you promise not to use all the hot water, you can take one here," Darin offered with a sly grin. "I promise we won’t even watch."

"Where’s all the fun in that?" Luke joked. Grabbing Steve’s wallet from his back pocket, he added, "How ‘bout KFC? Dad’s buyin’."

"Ooh, that’ll cost you, Boy!" Steve warned as Luke rushed to his pickup.

Watching the truck back away and speed down the drive, Brady turned to Steve and said, "Well, let’s head up to the house. You can shower while Darin and I get stuff ready for dinner."

"Aw, gees, why do I have to help?" Darin whined, "You never let me have any fun." The friends shared a laugh as they walked across the field toward the house.

"Why should you be the only one who gets to have fun?" Brady demanded, winking at Steve. "I wanna chance to play with him as much as you do but, I’m hungry."

"Hey, how about a swim instead of a shower?" Darin asked as they entered the open garage door. "I’ll race ya," he added, unbuttoning his shirt and kicking off his dress shoes while he pressed the button to lower the door.

Brady quickly unbuttoned his own shirt and tossed it to the floor, next to the back door. Skinning off his blue jeans, he hollered, "Last one in has to do the dishes."

"Hey, no fair," Steve complained, "You guys don’t have work boots on." He quickly began unlacing his boots and kicked them off inside the garage. He grabbed his belt and undid the button on his work pants while he pulled his shirt over his head without undoing the buttons.

All three stood, shirtless, inside the back door of the garage, their breathing heavy as they stared at each other. Brady slowly reached out and touched the barbell in Steve’s left nipple. "That is so cool," he said softly, squeezing gently.

Steve sighed and reached toward Darin, running his fingers through the dense hair on his upper chest. "Damn, you are one hot man," he whispered. His other hand quickly found its way to Brady’s equally hairy chest. "We should probably wait till Luke gets back though," he added. "Damn, I’ve had an almost constant hard on since you mentioned wanting to play the other day."

"I know, me too," Darin chuckled, undoing the button on his dress pants and sliding them past his knees. As he stood there, his black boxer briefs rapidly expanding in the front, he leaned toward Steve and gently kissed him on the lips.

Brady sighed as he took in the sight of his lover kissing the older man. He reached for the waistband of Steve’s white jockey shorts and gently ran his right hand below the elastic, the soft light brown hair brushing against his fingers as he slowly pulled the fabric away from the large bulge. Steve moaned as Brady’s hand pushed the shorts past his throbbing erection, freeing it from its cotton prison. With his left hand, he reached toward Darin’s crotch and slowly repeated the process, freeing his massive hard on from it’s casing. Once both men had their underwear pushed past their knees, he knelt between them and slowly lowered his mouth over Steve’s mushroom headed organ. Steve placed his rough hand on the top of Brady’s head as he groaned with pleasure while Brady swallowed his entire length. Steve’s right hand found its way to Darin’s erection and gently tugged the foreskin away from the head as Brady struggled to free his own throbbing hard on.

"I should have known you pervs wouldn’t wait for me," Luke called out, opening the garage entry door. He quickly set the bucket of fried chicken and the bag with the biscuits and mashed potatoes on the workbench next to the back door of the house and peeled his tee shirt over his head. "It’s a good thing I called ahead so they’d have it ready when I got there," he added. With one motion, he popped the buttons on his shorts and pushed them and his bikini briefs to his ankles, kicking them aside as he walked across the garage floor. He quickly knelt down beside Brady and gobbled Darin’s massive meat into his anxious mouth.

Steve looked down at the sight of his lover working on Darin and Brady’s head bobbing up and down on his meat. "Even if I see it a thousand times," he whispered, "It still turns me on to watch that boy suck somebody else’s meat."

"I know," Darin sighed, "I feel the same way watching Brady do that. Damn, Luke’s got a nice technique."

"It’s the tongue stud," Steve said smiling. "Wait till he runs it under your foreskin," he added, placing his rough hand on Darin’s furry ass and giving it a gentle squeeze.

Leaning his head against Darin’s shoulder, Steve whispered, "I been wantin’ to do this since that day you showed me the place. I just wasn’t sure you’d be open to the idea. I damn near shot my wad the other day when we changed clothes and I saw that hot dick of yours."

"I almost said something to you that day too," Darin replied. "I just wanted to make sure you were open too. Damn, that boy knows how to suck cock!"

"Yours ain’t no slouch either," Steve agreed, his knees beginning to buckle as he edged ever closer to orgasm. "I haven’t had anybody get me off this quick in a long time," he added.

Brady pulled his lips off Steve’s penis and grinned. "Just let it happen," he said before swallowing the entire seven plus inches once again.

Both Darin and Steve turned so they were leaning against either side of the back door. While their partners sucked furiously. Darin could feel his orgasm beginning when Steve pulled his circumcised shaft from Brady’s mouth and grabbed it with his massive hand. He pumped while Brady did the same and watched. Soon, Steve pumped and bucked as a huge volley of thick white juice erupted from the end and struck Brady on the neck. Darin pushed Luke off his dick as, he too began spraying onto Luke’s hairless chest. Luke unloaded a huge load all over Darin’s feet as Brady did the same to Steve. The younger men fell backwards onto the concrete floor while Darin and Steve held onto each other to keep from falling over. "Whew!" Steve exclaimed, "That was intense." His body continued to convulse as he slowly recovered from his orgasm.

Shaking, Darin slid to the floor. "Wow!" he exclaimed. Now, we all need a shower."

The boys were on their feet and, grabbing up the clothes that were scattered on the floor, hurried toward the kitchen door and down the stairs. They were already enjoying the warm spray of the shower when the older guys entered the room. Stepping under the spray next to Luke, Steve kissed him on the forehead. "I love you, Boy," he offered as the water cascaded over their bodies.

"I love you too, Daddy," Luke returned. "More every day."

"Isn’t that sweet?" Darin teased as Steve tossed a wet washcloth at him. He looked at Brady, who was rinsing the shampoo from his curly hair and smiled at him. "What he said," he giggled.

"Ditto," was all Brady replied.
