Yeah, I know, wow, big deal, RH. Fascinating, even, dripping with sarcasm. I felt the need to post about it, though, for your congratulations, indifference or condemnation.

Back when kids were starting to smoke, I was 11 I think, I was asthmatic so I wisely chose to stay as far away from cigarettes as I could lest I drop dead. I grew out of my asthma by the time I reached adulthood (thank goodness, someone up there likes me). I'm 28 years old and I decided to buy a pack of clove cigarettes (because I always thought they smelled nice) and give it a try because, you know what, despite the enormous health risks and how gross it smells, I wanted to know what it's like to smoke.

It's so cute, I'm all buzzed from my first dose of nicotine. I would honestly be surprised if I bought a second pack. Wow do I ever look cool smoking, though. Never coughed once, I'm happy to say. Must be from all the mandatory pot smoking I did in B.C. (out there if you want healthcare then you have to smoke pot, it's the law*).

Cheers, thanks a lot.

* How's that for hyperbole?

I quit permanently a couple years ago.But every morning when I have my coffee,I wanna rush out and buy a pack of Marlboro Lights.... But I don't.....I chew a toothpick and drink tea all day instead....

You too? I want to rush out and buy a pack after a lot of things actually. Even running and how much sense does that make?

Op don't even flirt with smoking. One minute I was a social smoker and the next minute I was smoking a pack a day. It creeps up on you big time.

Careful, they can be harder to quit than crack. I loved the morning smoke with coffee, that's how it started, just one, and there are moments (anxiety, boredom, panic) that I feel, just for an instant, that I can't go on without one, but it passes. I thought my friends who were hooked had no willpower, hah!

After smoking for a year during my college Freshmen year and part of the following year, I quit smoking cigs.... that is 34 years ago and i was only 18 when I quit! I started smoking because of peer pressure.... everyone was smoking and being 1,000 miles away from home, I was FREE at last! I could never get around to really enjoy smoking... I am always coughing and choking, etc... so in three days I smoked no more.

I started 'cause I loved it, the smell, the taste, the rush, the softening, the aesthetic, it seemed like it was starting to corrode me. It was hard. I still love it, I just don't do it.

Well, for heaven's sake, let it be your last !

How expensive. I'd rather spend $5 - $10 a week on something more fun...

$5-$10 a WEEK???????

FUCK......if I could have gotten by THAT cheaply I wouldn't have bothered QUITTING...... #-o .......but I was looking at $12 a DAY when I quit.

Dude, dude, dude...

Nothing really, I just wanted to be hip by saying "dude" a lot. :p

Seriously, smoking is kinda a dealbreaker for me. I can't stand the smell. Makes my body want to hurl. It gets into your pores and oozes out all over everything you touch.

Sorry to be such a Debbie Downer ... Yeah, I had lots of fun in my younger years playing with a nicotine buzz, but it's notsomuch fun anymore.

I'd much rather *|*. :D

Congratulations. You just took about 10 minutes off your life.

Now, if you will excuse me I am accompanying a friend to Chemo treatment tomorrow and I have to get up early. (I'm being serious.)

My first pack was 50¢ out of a vending machine. At school. In Utah. Surreal. I was 19, got a little light-headed just dropping the coins and pulling the handle, then I sat down with my organic chem text and...

If you didn't have so many posts I would ask if you used to call yourself barebackingslut.

^You're overreacting. I don't even know one per mill of the substances above. #-o

Anyway, RH, you're a grown up, so it's for you to decide. But based on the series of diseases arising from whorls of cigarette smokes, it may be wise for you to think twice.

To bad smoking seems to get out of control. If I could only smoke 3 or 4 a day I would have no problem but it doesn't stay like that.

I love smoking, and regardless of the hardcore reaction of many here there are plenty of guys that will date you and hang with you if you smoke. The ones that are very self righteous might be ones you would avoid because of some of their habits. Its a 2 way street though they think there shit doesn't stink and love to put smokers down anytime they can doesn't mean they are correct, just smug and arrogant though they certainly have the right to be that way and see who they want the problem is many think all want them,... and smoking or not they are not in demand as much as the prize they think they are because they speak so fucking nasty about smokers. Fuck `em.

I wouldn't want to start smoking again if I had the chance because of the cost, the known health problems due to the going above a few cigarettes a day to a pack or more.
But you know I can't see getting hooked on cloves like the other types, and perhaps that could be a good occasional relaxing break just like many smoke a joint in a social situation?
In your case it could cause a flare up in the sleeping asthma? That would be a big concern.
The daily out put of money is a waste, bottom line, rather you are pro or con it comes down to a big chunk of change for a diminishing return with time, the buzz wears off.

No offense, but saying that somebody up there must like you due to the disappearance of your asthma and then turning around and trying cigarette....not exactly the best way to thank them.

You are an adult and I will defend your right to do whatever the hell you want with your body, but please don't take for granted your newfound ability to breathe because if this becomes a habit, that won't last long.
