Posting this here, since many of the "story" threads were posted here.

This thread is to pro-actively avoid any confusion surrounding the temporary banning of:
  • FRZBGLFR
  • Musicman-bflat
  • G-Man90
  • paraman25
  • Mysterymeat

For several weeks now, the moderator team has been monitoring several users for suspected violation of COC #19:

Please do not use the message boards, Private Message system, chat, or personal webspace for any commercial purpose without the express consent of JustUsBoys.com. You may only create one account for yourself as an individual. You may not create an account for your corporation or other business entity. Please see below for more guidelines for commercial users.

We have been monitoring them for quite some time, and put a lot of detective work in collecting evidence for our suspicion. We've held off on acting upon our suspicions because 3 of the 5 users are long-time users who have posted very personal stories about their lives. We also wanted to believe in the love-story between two of the users however with a recent addition of a fifth user who posted yet another fictitious story, we confronted the person and received another unlikely excuse. It is hard to tell now which (if any) of their stories are real, and if any of the personae is real.

We are still not a 100% certain that those ALL are the same person (maybe there are two "playing" together), but they are at least:

  • all posting from the very same IP in a suburb of Dallas
  • using the exact same Browser with the exact same settings. All the time, no matter where they actually claim to be.
  • never online at the same time

When we confronted them with the evidence, we got a story about how they all live together in the same place and use the same network. This in an interesting claim, since many of you are aware that two of these users have claimed to be lovers living in San Diego and a third user claims to live in Houston, Texas.

We have asked them to provide us any proof for the claim that they are roommates (like a group pic with their individual usernames written on a piece of paper). If they are unable to deliver us something substantial, their accounts will be permanently banned from JUB.

Thanks a lot to Karabulut and starwarrior who put a lot of effort in this investigation.

"Oh what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive!"

if the long time member is/was complicit in spouting off lies and half truths then whatever they may have posted in the past should be considered suspect. the ban should be permanent, not temporary.

LMAO !!!

I cant understand that !! :)

Congratulations for a good work.
But I'm so sad that love story in the jail was fake. My heart is broken, I think that I can't belive in love anymore ( read with theater grandiloquent tone).

Well Kara and Corny,

I'm about to send you a copy of a pm that should get Mysterymeat banned for awhile longer.

As you said in the other thread, sometimes Christmas just comes early.

Trolling with schizoid personalities have occured in other forums here on JUB. It is disruptive to the flow of conversation when other proper users weigh in to address the rubbish these fakes output exchanges can get heated...

But, the resultant backlash is paranoia about newbies that will join in a conversation.

The whole atmosphere of JUB changes when we have trolls and their schizoid personalities. Some ingratiate themselves, other personalities seem offensive and bellicose, and others just seem like good honest folks. It isn't hard to feel decieved when the unmasking of the network of gremlims occurs.

The stories below were the ones that really were the shame. A shame that it probably wasn't true. And a shame that so these guys created a work of fiction with the intent to dupe so many people who want to hear a love story and a happy ending.

Now I'm surprised, and understand your post in that thread.

Well I haven't read those threads and now I'm not going to but my question is, why would a person or persons go through the trouble?
I believe there is an area here devoted to fictional tales, no?

Let's face it people, when it all boils down to it, this whole thing is largely just random things from people you don't know. If something makes you feel better then great, and if something makes you feel worse, just click on a few different threads until you feel better again. Or better yet go outside, call a friend or family member, strike up a conversation with the new guy at work, whatever.
This is just the internet. Everything is subject to fallacy.

Now I don't mean to be detrimental, I know there are many people here who have shared some very personal things that they can't share elsewhere. I've done that myself, and I've "spoken" with a few people via PM who I really think are great people. Now if those people turned out to be fakes, I think I'd be upset. I still plan to take Chaz out for a beer sometime haha. But just reading a story and later finding out its fictional, well so be it.

I don't mean to underplay their violations of the site's rules, and I wholeheartedly agree with the decisions of the staff, but I don't understand why other members would really be upset by finding out what they had read was in fact not reality. Isn't the idea of this (in part) to be a release from reality? Well I guess the fakes delivered that, and apparently put a lot of interest and effort into making it seem like a reality for the audience. The method was wrong no doubt, but I have to question the intent. Much like you guys enjoyed reading the stories, somebody apparently enjoyed going out of his way to make it seem all the more real. Is that such a crime?

This really disappoints me. He had some heart-rending and heart-warming stories.

I guess that is just what they were........... I'm sad.

GMan posted photos of himself, didn't he? The guy with the arms?

I wonder if those weren't really him.

Without getting into a lot of detail, we've known about this group for a while. They didn't post very often and seemed otherwise harmless. And they seemed to be very friendly with several people.

The action was finally taken after the latest addition to the group started sending harassing PMs to people who questioned his latest story.

It would be easy to focus upon the fakers and question the veracity of people on the internet. But that's much like the saying about "one bad apple spoiling the whole bunch".

Most people here are what they say they are.
