Which state do you like better and why? Although they are both nice, I had a better time in California.

They are both bust economically, so that's even, as far as beauty goes, it's hard to beat California. I could never see myself moving to Cali tho, Florida I can so see myself in Fort Lauderdale, sitting by my pool having a cool beverage.

Lives in one, visited the other several times.

California:
  • Weather (I like variety, it would trump my love for humid weather).
  • Geography.
  • Coastal parts are relatively more socially accepting and multicultural.
  • Cheaper to fly to my and my parent's birth countries across the Pacific.

Florida:
  • Warmer ocean water.
  • Cheaper gas.
  • Relatively friendlier to small businesses.
  • I'm a Floridian.

Logically neither cause of the economy and unemployment rate, i'd rather visit both than live.

Remember California is quite big compared to Florida. It has a much more varied geography and climate than Florida. I'm partial to Palm Springs, CA. Didn't care for LA, Haven't been in Northern CA. I love Miami, Ft. Lauderdale and especially Key West. Overall, if I had to choose one, I'd pick Florida.

^ Okay, this is the first time I can recall getting an ear-worm without actually hearing the song.

Cali is nice, but I like Florida better, especially south Florida. It's the closest thing he have to the tropics in the continental US.

Plus I'm an east coast guy. I can be in NY in 2.5 hours.

LA has terrible smog and traffic. And their weather is odd, they can get real cold in the winter, and last week didn't they get to 102?

and Cali is much more expensive to live in.

I love Key West too, Ive vacationed there a thousand times, but I couldn't see myself living there, Fort Lauderdale seems nice to me too. I've been up and down the coast of CA several times and nothing compares beauty to it beauty wise. SF is fun but expensive. If i move anywhere the cost of living is going to have be a lot lower than it is in the shadow of NYC.

San Diego is beautiful, I've been there a few times, Palm Springs too. I have friends with houses in both places, nice way to live!! I love the airport in San Diego, it's like landing in the middle of the city.

As a born-and-bred Floridian I can certifiably tell you that Florida is shit. The people down here are psychotic, the weather sucks, the job market is almost non-existent, and it's one of the poorest states when it comes to LGBT rights.

I'm not kidding about the weather; it's completely unpredictable, and a cool day half the year is upper 80's.

I must say that I am amused at those that say that Floridians are nuts. I lived in So-Cal for a year and a half and I can tell you about nuts roaming the streets you would see on a daily basis.

May I add one I just took?

Alright, it sort of pales in comparison to the others. But the weather is, in most people's opinion, sucking ass right now (I love it, though), and it still looks gorgeous. :D

I've never been to Florida, so I can't comment much on it. It does have the Harry Potter theme park, for which I'm jealous.

Is that a wildfire rolling in? :p

Earthquakes are worse than hurricanes. You can see a hurricane coming and evacuate. If an earthquake happens and the bridge you are driving on or under collapses you are fucked. Same if you are on the first floor and the other ones decide to topple on top of you.
