May have been that arrangements were in place before this, given how ill he has been.

I'm very pleased that they were able to bury him with such privacy.

That's possible. Still, I can't imagine any of his family anticipating a protest from the WBC.

Then again, they wanted to protest the funeral of a young Canadian who was beheaded by a lunatic, so I shouldn't really be surprised.

Of course the arrangements were already in place. Of course Steve would have supervised the arrangements himself.

I would hate to have been his chosen funeral director.

"What is this? You call that a tombstone? Jonny Ive could do better than that blindfolded and fighting off a drunken muppet. You should hate yourself for making the funeral industry fail like that! Get away from me and don't come back until you have something fit to be buried under. I wouldn't bury Michael Dell under that piece of garbage."

Westboro Baptist Church coming to my city tommorrow

I'm sure many of you have heard the story out of Syracuse regarding Bernie Fine and whether there was sexual abuse that occured.
There have been many groups that have come since the story broke and tommorrow it will be the Phelps clan. They will be protesting right outside the Dome before and after the game. I normally don't hope for rain but I'm hoping for it in buckets tommorrow. That way they can all melt like the pieces of garbage they are.

The best way is ignore them, these idiots just do it to get publicity and be famous.

They are basically just xfactor drop outs looking for another way into the papers, and try some shock tactics. Let them go.

From memory, they threatened to sue the Australian Government when they were denied visa's at the time Heath Ledger died. Personally I would have let them come. Australia doesn't have Freedom of Speech like the US does. You're free to speak all you want but they would have ended up arrested, that or trying to swim home to the US.

I've never been happier than I was when Australia's 60 minutes did a story on them and listening to how much the old guy hates Australia, calling it the devils playground filled with sin. :badgrin:

They would be arrested and the kids taken away.

If you ask me throw the kids in a meat grinder, they're so fucked up nothing can save them and you'd be doing them a favor.

The best way to fight them is to practice your freedom of speech LOUDER than they do....

I have been impressed by the multitude of different ways the Phelps have been removed from harassing a grieving family. There is no reason this should be different. But don't assault them unless you can get away with it.

Last I heard, they weren't banned from entering Canada, but their protests would violate hate speech laws and they would be arrested. Also, I would guess that none of the lawyers in that church are registered with any law societies in Canada, so while each of them could represent themselves, I don't think they could represent the entire church.

In Canada there's an informal scale of lawyers. At the top are corporate civil litigators, the kind that really just move money around among rich companies and people. At the bottom are your personal injury lawyers, although it seems the Phelps have carved out a place under that for themselves.

You're partly right on the brain part. I know many brilliant lawyers, who are clueless to everything else. Successfully argue an issue of constitutionality in your sleep, sure. Know how to save a draft document.....nope.

When you think about it, they just prove the stereotype about lawyers believing themselves to be omnipotent.

The sad part is no one is willing to prove them wrong.

I still hope almighty Kharma smites them one day soon.

I didn't realize they were a family, and largely lawyers, though.

Too bad so many have been brain-washed and never learned how to think and reason for themselves.
