There have to be others out there who are really good shots at 1km+. All that needs to happen is every time they picket, a couple get picked-off. My guess is that they'd not be so inclined to show up everywhere.

Ok, now is the time for LESS gun restrictions. Go get em, America!

WBC tried to picket a high profile funeral up here in Canada once, and when our government refused to protect them and their freedom of speech right, they turned tail so fast and never came back. Low lifes!!!

I am not trying to play the devil's advocate here, but in the bizarrely warped and morbid interpretation that these people have of religion, doing this is an act of mercy and a sign of genuine kindness - I will always remember first documentary that Louis Theroux made on them, in which the younger girls were deeply upset because the "fag enablers" didn't joyfully welcome them as bearers of the truth and compassionate souls each time they picketed funerals, hurled insults at another congregation or targeted some event.

These people are mentally ill and have deliberately separated themselves from the rest of society. When Louis Theroux went back a few years letter, I got the impression that many of them toed the line and did everything that Fred Phelps wants them to do, because they have never lived in the real world and are terrified of being rejected and isolated by the only people they're familiar with. They simply don't know how to deal with what lies outside of the little place they have entrenched themselves in. Which, if you think about it, is pathetic enough to make you pity them (well, at least the genuinely vulnerable and somewhat sane among them).

With this said... Is anyone really surprised that they would be doing this? "Shocking" people into accepting the "truth" is their main means of proselytizing. They wouldn't be known if they didn't exploit other people's pain for their own publicity. As horribly distasteful as this is, well, it sort of works for them and helps them to reinforce the idea that they are the only ones who truly follow and serve God. As I've said before, these people are insane. #-o

I was wondering if they would show up, and its sounds like they are. fucking bastards. This will really get the attention of the US & the President and hopefully will get so many people against them that maybe, just maybe, they will be banned from ever doing this again.

It's sad that they crave so much attention. First it was the soldier. Then didn't they want to picket for those that were killed at the movie theater? I'm sure there were others, too. It's really sad how they just don't respect anyone.
