I would disagree with the idea that atheists have no belief systems that can be exploited. It called atheism and while it may not be as developed as some organized religions, it is just as developed as many of the less dogmatic religions. The Soviets and others managed to manipulate it to control people quite well.

No kidding. I have yet to meet an atheist with no belief system. In fact, having no belief system would pretty much require a permanent state of amnesia.

Yeah, I agree. There are all kinds of philosophies/beliefs that some attached to it, but atheism itself...

The "invitation" there is all too much the sort of thing that literalists really do believe as far as prayer goes, as if God would just create something out of nothing just for them.

If I were to make a request as to what God should have appear in there, it would be a scroll saying, "Of course My Creation is billions of years old -- did you think I made it just for you?"
