Sort of relates to my own issued with Christianity, the closest I found relevant is the argument that hell is not really the figurative fiery lake but those souls realizing that they will spend an eternity without God.

Except in this case he's making a fallacious claim. Substitute something else:

"The easy confidence with which I know another man's writing is terrible teaches me to suspect that my own is also."
