Funny anti-religious Internet pics

Re: Funny anti-religious Internet pics

Another fan of ignoring reason.

Re: Funny anti-religious Internet pics

Why is it that the least hint of a slip from logic on the part of someone religious gets pounced on with glee, but fallacious reasoning by atheists gets not just a pass, but cheered on?

Interesting that you should say that. Above you mentioned there was an absence of conflict between faith and reason. If so, and if we share an understanding of reason, then it should be easy, trivial even, to agree on a framework of reason which can be compatible with faith. Because the "reason" part we should find to be common ground.

And yet I don't find "the least hint of a slip from logic" on the part of someone religious. I find chasms of astonishing fantasy, magical thinking, and incoherence.

I have heard some people say some very silly things about religion while calling themselves atheists, things that bear no hallmarks of reason. Some will deny the existence of any god on the premise that no god would allow babies to die of cancer. Of course this neglects the obvious logical possibilities that god could be an asshole. Or he could be inept at teaching compassion.

But logical possibilities do not often add up to logical probabilities, which is where that chasm of belief begins opening up.

This thread is an atheist venue. Obviously, herein religious illogic will enjoy a little gleeful treatment, especially when offered by someone as outspoken and persistent as yourself.

Are atheists' propositions considered impartially in this thread's counterpart, church? Or, for that matter, in American society at large?

What's interesting is that top line is usually -- and originally -- a liberal mantra that is totally anathema to most religious people.

The bottom line could have come from St. Paul, if he talked that way; it certainly sounds like Ignatius of Loyola.

Why not? The believers in magic and infinite contradiction have an entire well-guarded and gated community on this board where no one is allowed to point and laugh at the foolishness and profound absurdities generated therein, under pain of the stocks, and ultimately excommunication, from the board.

So when they venture into this forum while riding their little hobby horses, they find to their repeated and seemingly eternal surprise that their armour of mod resembles more the emperor's new clothes.

I'd be kicked out of their comfortable little enclave if I ventured into a thread in there to accuse the posters of hatemongering, but this thread illustrates how they get away with that in the free world outside the borders of their walled electronic ghetto, all the while hijacking the thread to suit their own ends. Such is the non-cloistered world.

They don't like it one little bit.

I just re-read the last ten pages in this thread, and I can't figure out what you're talking about. Your first sentence reveals the source, though: a blind and uninformed bias. The rest reveals your level of discourse: petty insults. And the last reveals ignorance of this board as well.
