Gay Marriage Updates By State

^
People don't have to have their relationship recognized at all if they don't want it to be recognized. I don't think that replacing civil unions with marriage is a controversial concept within the gay community. Civil unions do not have the same benefits of marriage even if a state tries to make it so. When states like vermont had civil unions, there were couples that had trouble getting organizations to even recognize them for insurance purposes, going to a hospital, etc.

Yet Another New Poll Shows Majority Support For Same-Sex Marriage

http://networkedblogs.com/gR0HJ

it is interesting to see that there is more support in the West than the East

The poll found a majority of women — 57% — and a majority of both white and non-white respondents support marriage equality, along with 60% of those under the age of 50. 59% of those who attended college and/or made $50,000 a year or more also support full marriage equality.

The greatest disparity was in political affiliation. 64% of Democrats, and 55% of Independents support same-sex marriage, while only 27% of Republicans do, with a whopping 71% of Republicans answering that gay and lesbian couples should not be afforded marriage equality.

Majority support also came from those in the Northeast (55%), the Midwest (54%), and the West (61%), with only support from the South (41%) in the minority.

Those who identified as members of the Tea Party opposed same-sex marriage by 76% to 31%.

Christine Quinn: "New York on the verge of getting gay marriage"

http://www.advocate.com/News/Daily_N...e_of_Marriage/

"On Monday, Quinn indicated that she had made progress in a recent lobbying trip to Albany, the state capital. She reported on a promising conversation with a senator who had been a “very disappointing ‘no’ vote on marriage.”

“When I met with this senator last week, at the end of the meeting, the senator said to me, ‘I will make sure that your father gets to see you dance at your wedding,’” said Quinn."

IMO she's likely talking about Addabbo or Alesi.

^^^My God, do they want the guy to sound more like a Southern Baptist preacher?

Blah, blah, blah is all I gotta say. The energy in New York for our side is insermountable. 15,000-20,000 people may attend Ruben Diaz's little rally on May 15, but in New York City that's nothing more then a couple drops in the bucket (not to mention that many were bused in from other areas of the state and even out of state).
