A month later...not even close to recouping it's costs.

Don't think we are gonna see a sequel and since Card's personal bigotry has been called on the carpet so publicly thanks in large part to GeeksOUT I doubt any of his other stuff will be embraced in Hollywood anytime soon.

This is exactly the kind of movie that would be MUST SEE for me...and I had a complete loss of interest based on Card. I don't think I am alone.

Either way...I would give the boycott two thumbs up...I think it did it's job. If you can keep 10-20% of a potential audience from viewing the movie...that is HUGE when you crunch the numbers and profit margins!

Yep, I am pleased with how things turned out...

Possibly. Then again, the way his books sell someone will likely buy up the rights sooner or later. Then that movie will be boycotted. And the only people who suffer are the Hollywood types (many of whom are coming around, if they haven't already joined the equality side). I still don't understand why y'alls don't just boycott Card directly by going for the books. If the books don't sell he doesn't make the money. In the long run the films also wont be made, but the way y'all go about it Card still gets his money. The cast of the film and crew, even those who are gay and gay friendly are the ones hurt by boycotting..... Acceptable collateral damage, I guess.

Um, actually the cast and crew did get paid. Only people who get money from ticket sales lost anything.

Also, Card's books don't sell well at all lately. T
He got a bump due to the movie coming out, but in general he's not been doing well for years.

^^^Card's "brand" is damaged so it may very well affect his future book sales.

One author I always buy is Terry Brooks and I visit the TB Message Board sometimes...and if he suddenly decided to fight equality under the law for GLBT people and I was made aware of it I would cease to buy his books...but I might stay on the message board :-<
