GOP Sen. nominee Christine O'Donnell: homophobe or closet case?

It sounds like you don't think homosexuals and Christians can live alongside each other. I think they can. So what's your solution?

I think I've been pretty clear with my solution.

Now I'm more interested in how you think gay people can like with the christians. And what you'll use as proof of that.

I think you can have Christian neighbors as long as everyone minds their own business.

Yeah. But please point to a time in history when Christians minded their own business?

Those people spend more time telling other people how to live than they do breathing. Those people spend more time sponsoring laws to legislate their will on others than they do awake. Those people spend more time attacking other people than they do caring for their own kids.

We clearly can't live peacefully with them, I say it's time we declared war on them. It's for our own survival.

I know some Christians and haven't really had any issues with them. Some of them are gay even. Of the gay Christians, two of them are liberal Democrats and only one of them is a Republican.

You're stereotyping and way overgeneralizing again.

Again, like 75% of the country is Christian. Only a small percentage of these people are militantly anti-gay.

What you are doing is no better than when straight people stereotype all gays as feminine queens because that's all they see.

It's mostly just fundamentalist evangelicals that are the extreme anti-gay people in Christian circles.

And it's just as liberating as it was yesterday.

Bull. Fucking. Shit. The vast majority of them are.

And that's only what... 50% of the US population?

It would not be possible for a majority of Americans to have no problem with gay relationships if the 75% of the country that were Christians were all (or even a large majority were) anti-gay.

Again, please get your facts straight.

And that's only what... 50% of the US population?
Um...no. It's clear you are very uninformed on this issue. I'm not going to argue any more since it's futile with someone in your position who refuses to educate themselves.

As I was writing my response, I understood your point. However, I don't think it's good as a long term strategy. We're still trying to win hearts and minds.

I don't think it's about the majority of Christians being anti-gay and more about a minority of fundamentalists being more vocal and passionate about organizing against us. The same could be said of other extremists who rally against other groups.

Typical bigot of hate and intolerance of the gay community. She even sees MASTURBATION as evil.

No we're not. That won't ever work. Those people WANT to be "legally better than us."

Well I think it's about 100% of Christians being mentally ill and the vast majority being evil. They worship a Zombie, for crying out loud. How can you reason with people THAT nuts?

What people? I'm talking about society in general and not just Christians.

It's always the extremists you hear the loudest.

It's always the extremists you hear the loudest.

And always the loudest ones who get their way.

Which is why I'm done being rational. If the micro-minority of Christians who don't want us in the gas chamber aren't willing to do anything about their ranks... I think it's time we DO.

Fuck. Them. All.

sorry if a few nice people get it too... their fault for being Christians, if you ask me.

Yeah but that's not true is it. It's a minority of Christians who will call their bigotry what it is (and really, if you count up the denominations that are overtly anti gay, that isn't a minority - start with the Catholics). That doesn't mean the rest of them are any less anti-gay, they just call it loving the sinner and hating the sin.

In here and among gay men we all love to produce the whole mistranslation thingy like some kind of rabbit out of a hat, and isn't it comforting. But you know, the gay community is the only place that really gets any play at all - the Christians aren't buying. Why is that? The Christian denominations that think being gay is just fine you can count on less than one hand.

We've made headway with the non-religious, and the marginally religious, but the majority of the actually religious are still anti-gay and always have been.

It's always the extremists you hear the loudest.

And if the anti gay, religious bigots are all that ever get heard, you’re fucked and so am I.

We as gay men only started getting anywhere when we started shouting, up until then it was closets and police.

Being out and loud got you where you are, it got us this board, it got us every step we’ve made.

That’s just fact.

Did I ever say anything about not being out and loud? I think there's a difference between being loud and being a narrow-minded person. I'm all for calling out senators or other religious leaders that want to go against our rights. It doesn't mean we try and take away Christians' rights, as Jasun was suggesting.

What's your gameplan for the future, TX-Beau?

What's yours? What is the point of that question in the first place?

I really don't think that Jasun was being all that literal. Do you?

I have no idea. It's the internet.

The point of the question is your just bitching about things without giving any suggestions on how to improve things.

I think we need to call out bigotry when we see it and live our lives and be out of the closet. We should vote for the people who support us and combat bigotry when we see it.

Agree with all of this. Agree with speaking out against those who have advocated bigotry and discrimination.

Do not agree with displaying needless bigotry against all members of huge groups just because some of their members are anti-gay bigots.
