GOProud puts economics before gay marriage at ‘Homocon’ dance party in Tampa

Given the choice of living with a family that struggles paying the bills but accepts me for who I am and encourages me vs. living with a financially successful family but despises me for who I am and tells me to conform or be cast out; I'm going to have to go with the former. I guess it all boils down to what's the most important thing to take to your grave.

If this guy wants to be filthy rich, he should be voting for people who want to restore Bill Clinton's economic policies, and Reagan's common sense that when the deficit grows, you raise taxes. Those were policies that generated many thousands of high-paying jobs, which when treated rightly can make a person filthy rich in not many years (I knew a guy who just out of college was making $70+k/yr, but kept living like he was in college, socking away $30+k annually into investments; after five years of that and good investment picks, he had almost a fifth of a million in assets).

Heard Jimmy LaSalvia on Pierce Morgan- he said this assinine comment about- in order to 'get married, you need a date, to get a date, you need a job.....' IS passing ENDA on the GOP Platform???? Hard to get a job/keep a job if you can be discriminated against while applying or fired for being gay....

"Vote for Romney - it'll get you dates!"

Sounds like GOProud is run by horny 13 year old girls.

I'd rather vote for the party that won't pass laws to have me treated like a 3rd class citizen, thankyouverymuch.

Worse. It's run by horny 13 year old "mean" girls who know full well that "equality or filthy rich" is not the choice for most people. They are willing to trade civil rights and equality not only for themselves but for EVERYONE so that they THEMSELVES have the chance to be "filthy rich."

You mean to tell me that the credo of the GOP is basically, "Fuck you, I got mine"?

I am shocked, I tell you - shocked!

I know, I'm terribly sorry to break it to ya! Add that to that the fact that "Silver & China Queens" like Jimmy and his beau are only happy when they're talking about vacations YOU didn't take and presto, you have the essence of GOProud in a nutshell (well, maybe a little bigger than a nutshell but CLOSE)

I'd rather be rich and civil union'd than unemployed and married... but that doesn't mean I think Republicans can make the "rich" part happen.

In any state you can have a wedding, in church with tuxedos, a reception, cake, a honeymoon no one is atopping you. Have a joint account, powers of attorney etc. etc.

It is embarrassing, that after several months of being on this forum dialoging with other gay forum members, and supposedly being a gay man yourself, that you have no concept or idea of the legal and financial benefits it means to have marriage equality recognized by the state and federal governments of the U.S.

Considering that Benny "claims" to be a lawyer, that makes his lack of understanding the legality of gay marriage even more embarrassing for him.

He none the less has a point, a point that has been lost in the gay marriage debate. The marriage license and benefits that come with it from the state do not a marriage make. A marriage is made by a bond between two people and the recognition of that bond by the their peers (not the government) and the government recognition with beanies is just the cherry on top of that.

The LGBT community should join with their supporting communities and say we are getting married no matter what the government says. Do ceremonies, get the rings, set up a legal framework have prepackaged marriage agreements that give us a much as can be legally obtained without that license.

Then as the numbers of married LGBT individuals grow and more and more people see that they are just people and not some stereotype activists out to ruin marriage, we gain more sympathy among the public and it becomes harder and harder to deny that license in the courts and the voting booth.

Haha! You are funny, but so sad at the same damn time...

That's not a bad idea. If gays started saying they were married, acting married, etc., people would get used to it.

I'd love to see all marriage benefits cut and the government get out of the business of discriminating against single people ..|

if two (or three or twenty) people want to get married, go for it. it's between you and your church (or some non-governmental secular organization whose approval/recognition you feel like you need)

I don't know about eliminating all the legal benefits, but certainly having over a thousand is a bit insane.

Marriage should be replaced with "registered unions" in the government's eyes. The term would eliminate religious overtones while indicating that the union is chosen and established by the parties to it, not by the government, and that the government's job is to dutifully record the union and grant all the benefits and privileges the law has established. And if that's a union of a dozen people, it's not the government's business to say that's not allowed.

Well, I wouldn't love to see marriage benefits being struck down. Getting married is one of the fastest ways for me to get a citizenship, were it legal. Not something I could do with an attorney, a church marriage and a honeymoon exactly. Not that my plight brings Benvolio anything but cold xenophobic terror...

Don't worry, your English is way better than his, you're not brown, and you didn't swim across the Rio Grande.

He has no problems with you....

OH WAIT, you ARE the spawn of Godless Communism.

Sorry. Back on the boat with you!!!

But anyone who makes less than 7 figure salary has ZERO reason to vote Republican anyway...

That's why they adopted the ever popular religious loon platform.
