Grocery shopping...home delivery

I've just got back from a trip to Sainsbury's. There were large gaps on the shelves, but the place was remarkably quiet and there was plenty of room in the car park. Most of what I wanted was in stock, but no eggs or tomato ketchup.
 
^ We are lucky with eggs. Our neighbours have chickens.
 
^ Better than supermarket eggs any time. I did buy tomatoes, so I guess I could make some sort of ketchup if I was that bothered.
 
Agreed. Well... back from shopping.

Loblaws has the plexi guards at all the registers and the store was completely civilized with lots of fruit and vegetables and bread and dairy products.

Almost all the essentials are now labelled limit of 2 per shopper and again, I didn't see anyone going nuts with their shopping orders.

We are good now until well into the next week or so, so shouldn't have to hit the stores or the pharmacy for at least 10 days now.
 
I've been afraid to go to any grocery store. The Walmart here is on a 7 day wait list for grocery pickups.

I've stopped at Target and picked up a few staples that I've needed. I usually keep a pretty good pantry stocked.
 
Just had a Shoprite home delivery and they are still doing a good job :)

But picturing the deli man sneezing on my turkey breast has sucked all the joy out of my sandwich. :lol:

I generally don't shop Target--limited selection and higher prices in general than my usual store. But that might change... I've looked at the website, and if the data is accurate showing what's in stock, it looks like they are doing a pretty good job of keeping some staples in stock.
 
An update on my home delivery experience:
I placed the order on the 21st and was scheduled for delivery today between 5 and 6 PM. I kept getting text messages that pushed the delivery to a later time, finally I got a call from the delivery/shopper saying that they had just gotten back to the store and it was closed. Then I got another text stating that they were doing my shopping, followed by multiple texts saying that they were refunding various items... it turned in to the whole list. Then I received
an e-mail from Kroger asking me to rate my experience with their home delivery. We are in a strange time and are not used to inconveniences. Hell, this the USA, we are supposed to get what we want when we want it! Perhaps a good taste of empty shelves and a lack of choices will be an eye opener for us.

Well, that's terrible.

Do you have to maintain/pay for a membership?

I'm wondering if places/companies that operate like Amazon will offer any sort of adjustments to the monthly fees since thay are unable to keep their part of the bargain.
 
I’ve been getting out every 3 days or so to get something from the store or to get a drive through order from the only restaurant in town or McDonalds in the closest town over. Not a lot to chose from food wise at the local grocery store or WalMart as the hoarders are keeping the shelves empty. So basically all I have had luck finding is some cereal, cheap tv dinners, cheap frozen pizzas, soup, peanut butter & jelly sandwiches, and chicken nuggets. At least McDonalds Daily Doubles have lettuce, tomato, and onions for veggies! 🤣 The sub sandwich place here in town has expanded their menu to include meatloaf, salmon, and other entrees to go but I haven’t tried the new ones yet. But for $5 they look good.
