gay black men hate themselves. And you guys (white gays). Many of them grew up in hostile, homophobic, insanely-strict religious households and neighborhoods and have been successfully taught to loathe homosexuality in themselves, in others.

They sit silently in the pew every week as the preacher reminds them that they're an abomination and that homosexuality is nothing but a hypersexual condition. The offspring of this are the DL phenomenon, marrying women and raising families to keep moms off their back, and promiscuity. Since their own community hates them and they hate themselves, they seek whatever gratifications they can find, namely sex, which (partially) explains the sky-high STD numbers.

I can make the same gay marriage or DADT thread here and on a black gay forum and the responses would be like night and day. JUB would cry for justice and equality, the black forum would demand that we stop "throwing our sexuality in people's faces" and "stop promoting this trashy lifestyle."

This is why they're not at the marches, signing the petitions or demanding equality from our government. I made a thread on a black gay forum about including sexual orientation in the high-school curriculum and the way they responded you'd think I suggested burning babies and eating the charred flesh.

The graffiti movie/documentary "Infamy" shows a gay black tagger offtopic:

LOL

public service announcements are making a comeback

Even Little Richard and Johnny Mathis?

Ohmygawdgirlfriendsistagirl you done brought up two names, guess that shatters my little theory here. If you're ever bored, register on bgclive.com (bgc = blackgaychat). Make a thread about gay marriage. They might not even take it seriously and will instead harrass your "white ass" for being on "their site" but if they get over your skin color they'll lay into you for the things I stated above, "throwing your sexuality in people's faces," "promoting this lifestyle", they'll suggest that you "stop letting your sexual orientation run your life."

Imagine the way a group of republicans would respond to the topic and that's pretty much what the responses will look like. Rhetoric like "Gays can't even commit!"

How can we help them feel Comfortable with themselves, to be who and what they are? It's sad to hear or read these stories.

If I knew the answer, I'd bottle it and sell it. The self-hatred they feel is passionate and so deeply engrained in their subconscious that even when you hold up a mirror and show it to them, they vehemently deny it.

Everything the white gay community is doing now (fighting for equality, coming to terms with being homosexual) will bleed over eventually. As long as black Americans insist on sticking to this poisonous religion we can't do more than what's already being done, most importantly the idea of including sexual orientation in high-school curriculums.

This offers an unbiased, educational perspective on homosexuality but even at that age they've already had years of "You ain't no faggot is you?" or "Ewwww that nigga gay!" and "You're going to hell unless you knock up that girl Keisha in the next building over."

I guess I am one of those rare black people who didn't grow up in that environment and didn't have to go through all that shit.

I guess it's good to go to a sane black church and live among sane black people. Even though I lived in a low income area around some pretty ghetto people.

Meh, maybe it's just Houston?

I've met a lot of black gay men who seemed just fine with being gay. I'm sure lots of people from every race have issues with it.

I guess that I'm one of the Lucky Black gays that don't hate themselves and is just fine with his sexuality.

Me too, I guess it's only exclusive to Chicago, Houston, NY and LA. B/c prior to joining JUB, I wasn't really aware of such things. You know stuff like, "I'm a black guy and white guys won't look twice at me." or "Death to all you disgusting femmy bastards for making my coming out the closet so hard to bear." Everyday I come here and read threads like these, it's an eye-opening experience for me.

Or maybe I'm just naive.
That's what I thought until I realized JUB doesn't reflect life.

I know plenty of white guys into black guys and guys of other races. Nor do I see all that random stuff with the femme hate like on here.

I guess the major metropolitan areas of the US are excluded from these types of things?!

Of course not! It might be less noticeable since they're more integrated than some smaller towns. Few places in the US are immune to any of the ills that were mentioned.

That is true. I don't doubt the things you mentioned are true, I just haven't seen it in my life, and I feel things are changing more and more.

Slower in small towns yes, but it is kinda changing. Of course, looking at that video, it seems not enough.

Meh, education education education
