Who thought sailing a ship of state would be so hard, much less fixing it. I am trying to give this captain the benefit of the doubt, but each day becomes more frightening. Upon inauguration a majority of us did not support him and he will see that only the finest of the first class passengers, his family included, will have life preservers. Each day becomes more horrid.

I've worked with several criminals helping them get their heads straight and their lives straightened out, so I've learned to have a lot of patience with people just not getting reality -- but with Trump I'm losing it fast; he seems less correctable than a multiple felon.

So they are apparently still pushing for a vote this week...tinkering with their tax cut bill disguised as a health care bill in order to try to bring just enough tea baggers and moderates on board.

All we can hope is that when Trump tries to bully them tomorrow that they just say 'Fuck You' again.

Because if this bill passes, the GOP is going to take a shit kicking.

They deserve a good kicking anyway for betraying the name of the party. Maybe once upon a time ruling could be done by a privileged wealthy class and it could be called a Republic, but I think that day was gone not long after Machiavelli wrote his classic on how to govern.

This is where I am foggy on the construct. Would the GOP actually take a shit kicking, or let trump pronounce it a "fake shit kicking by the failed press?" It seems as though the party seems to give him a pass when it is convenient and lets him take the blame when it suits their needs. Am I getting this straight?

Politicians are ALWAYS ready to let someone else take the blame, especially when they're doing the exact same thing they condemned the other party for doing when they had the power. And this batch of Republicans is already predisposed to blaming everything on the White House....

During the election, there was a lot of speculation that Trump was a narcissist. Over the past few months, it's become clearer that he's something much worse.

The House has now repealed Obamacare.

Just a reminder- this is House repeal vote #55 since 2009.

This time around they knew the consequences of electoral backlash. They barely had a final bill that the Press or any governmental watchdog agency could review and they rushed it the floor before the CBO could score it. This time around, they didn't want the CBO to say how many millions of people would lose coverage and how many people with pre-existing conditions would see premiums sky-rocket.

As they say, "Elections have consequences". There's another one coming up in 2018... if we survive 2 more years, that is.

IMO, the conservatives have shot themselves in the foot with this ball of s***. The legislation removes several million from the insurance rolls, raises premiums on those who have pre-existing conditions and is extremely harsh on those who are members of AARP. These constituencies will not forget come 2018

That's one of the most beautiful statements of why medical insurance is an immoral scam.

Healthy people cannot afford to bear the burden of the people already sick.

And that's one of the most selfish statements ever. It most definitely isn't true, so the only thing it can be is selfish.


In a way we should be thankful for the whole health care circus the GOP is performing, as it reveals the depths of depravity of today's so-called conservatives.

These Republican congress members are the same people who will fight to death about death with dignity laws and oppose any access to euthanasia of any kind. Since they are basically saying that they don't care if they die now, would they at least give them access to euthanasia, so at least they won't have to suffer a long agonizing death that could be easily prevented?

I dare say that a rather large portion of the Trump voters have pre-existing medical conditions, and it will be interesting to see what they do in 2018 and 2020 when they suddenly find themselves unable to afford medical care.

And yes, while Trump did say he was going to repeal Obamacare when he was running for office, he also said that pre-existing conditions would still be covered and that everyone would have health insurance.

It makes me wonder if we could go back in time and tell the people in the rust belt states, the ones who ultimately gave Trump the election victory, that he would ultimately end up taking away their access to healthcare, if they would still have voted for him?

But, I'm just as bad. I voted for Jill Stein. If I had it to do over again, with the knowledge I have now, I would have voted for crooked Hillary, even though I loath her. I can only hope that in 2018, enough people feel like I do now, vote the Republicans out of power.

House Democrats taunted Republicans on Thursday by bursting into song after the GOP plan to repeal and replace passed.

Many people since the sixteenth century have called the Papacy or the Pope the Antichrist, but today's GOP gives him stiff competition for the title.

So I've been reading some of the commentary and analysis of the House Bill that passed. The general opinion is the Republicans in their zeal to pass something have managed to cobble together a bill that is the WORST of all worlds. It does not actually repeal Obamacare and it manages to break all of Trump's promises on what Trumpcare was going to look like. It will not make Healthcare better. Given the overall unpopularity of the law, if it passes in anything like its current form the full negative impacts of it will be becoming apparent just in time to devastate the Republican party in the midterms. For the Republicans, this bill is a lose/lose situation.

What happens now is:
1. The Senate lets the bill die in committee and we return to the status quo.
2. The Senate not wanting to be the ones blamed for failing to pass healthcare reform makes some tweaks and passes the law. This is the worst outcome for Republicans who will likely lose the House in the midterms as fall out.
3. The Senate either guts the current bill and rewrites it from scratch or passes their own healthcare bill and sends it back to the House to reconcile. This is probably the best chance to avoid disaster for the Republicans if they can craft some real reform.
