Highly educated Democrats are now way more liberal than the rest of the party

Believing in a cause or causes is not fanaticism

Martin Luther King was not a fanatic
Ghandi was not
Gay right advocates were not and are not fanatics
Bernie supporters want a better world not just for politicians who made $28MM last year, $10MM of which were made in speaking fees

Bernie supporters are not fanatics - they just want justice

have you heard of that concept ?

Bernie comes from the strand of populism in which people feel in their gut that while we have done away with the negative consequences of tribalism, we have lost along with them many of the beneficial aspects of tribalism, namely those where everyone in the tribe gets cared for. If the nation is just people, unconnected, then Bernie is crazy, but if the nation is a people, then he is the most sane man in the race.

Bernie appeals to the highly educated or highest educated among the Democrats

The Vox article linked in your opening post does not mention “Bernie” (or any other representation of Senator Bernie Sanders).

I'm not understanding your logic.... highly educated people prefer liberals so they like Bernie?

The “logic” presented in the opening post is not validated by the external source-link provided in the opening post. It is smoke and mirrors.

good piece - worth reading

The “piece” is based upon results of a recently updated study conducted by Pew Research Center, A Wider Ideological Gap Between More and Less Educated Adults. And of course, it doesn’t mention Bernie either.

– But, it too is worth reading.

PROGRESSIVE = BERNIE

Hillary is a self professed moderate - I can find the video of her proudly proclaiming it if you'd like but it's on 1-2 threads already

Bernie is a self progressed Democratic Socialist - if you've seen or heard him a few times, then you've heard that - not to mention his record and stance on issues

hope that helps :)

It does not help explain your statement that “Bernie appeals to the highly educated or highest educated among the Democrats.” Maybe you posted the wrong link to support your affirmation.

Anyone who follows politics or news knows that Bernie is the most liberal and the most progressive of the candidates remaining in the race

not sure why you're struggling with that linkage

Not sure why you created this thread.

In fairness, if we compare the collective results of Democratic supporters versus Republicans....there can be no doubt that more college educated voters are going to be more progressive and vote Democrat...and as the poll tabulation from earlier this year shows...Hillary is attracting more college educated than Bernie.

The conclusion could be drawn that both Bernie and Hillary are, in fact progressives....just in different ways.

But the presumption is also unfair....because both of them also have many supporters without college education as well. It doesn't take a college degree to understand that unions protect workers and raise the standard of living for the middle class...or that every job deserves a living minimum wage.

Bernie appeals to the highly educated or highest educated among the Democrats

The error was to draw a conclusion that only Bernie appeals to the highly educated. Because that simply is not the case, it appears.

Way to strip out the elitism there.

The issue of education isn't going to turn anyone to the other side, of course it was elitism, also an attempt to paint Clinton and her supporters in a negative light.
