How Barack Obama played the race card

Just for you, Midnight, and maybe you will tell us sometime why you are voting for either Ron Paul or Obama, maybe because they are both men because they sure don't have anything else in common.

The #1 Issues for me as a Voter are the War in Iraq and the Economy. I'm sorry if they carry more weight than the other issues, but that's the way it is, as those are the two big issues at the moment. And the reason they are important to me is because they are intertwined with each other.

I consider myself more so a Libertarian Republican.

I believe in a "Mind Your Own Business" Foreign Policy. I don't believe in being the proverbial "Policeman of the World", as that policy has made the World a far more dangerous place over the years. We have no right interfering in the business of other countries. With that being said, all the overseas bases we have should be closed down, and our troops should be brought home. There is no need for our troops to be everywhere around the World. They should be at home protecting the United States of America and defending our own borders.

I believe in a complete withdraw from Iraq, in almost immediate fashion, however I feel that 6 months to a year is acceptable. And that means all troops should come home. I don't believe in maintaining our Embassy there, nor do I believe in carrying on a mission against Al Qaeda in Iraq.

I believe in reaching out to our enemies, such as Iran, Syria, Venezuela, etc. as being the Boss and dictating things to these countries is wrong on every level. In the very least, our country's leaders and their countries' leaders should be able to sit down and talk out our differences with them before imposing sanctions or anything else on them.

With that being said, I am not in favor of continuing to operate our current Foreign Policy for the benefit of Israel. I believe that Israel should be treated just like any other country. If they want to go ahead and bomb Iran so badly, they should ... and let them deal with the consequences on their own. Chances are, with the military fire power they possess, they'll be fine defending themselves. But regardless, this is none of our business.

I believe in Low Taxes (but I realize I'm not going to necessarily get that with Obama)

I don't necessarily believe in Universal Health Care, but am willing to go along with a candidate who supports it to end the War ... or should I say "Occupation" in Iraq and to bring the troops home.

I don't necessarily believe in Gay Marriage ... but that is only because I don't feel the states have a right to interfere in marriage ... as marriage is a religious function. I view this as interfering with Separation of Church and State, and I don't think the States have any rights telling the Churches who should and who shouldn't be married.

I don't support Don't Ask, Don't Tell anymore. I used to, but my views have changed on this matter the past few years.

BUT ... with that being said, I unquestionably stand up for equal rights for all Gay Couples and believe that Domestic Partnerships should absolutely be entitled to everything straight couples are entitled to.

I support the Death Penalty, but am outraged at the costs behind it. Something is wrong when it costs 5 times as much to send someone to the chair, then it does to imprison them for life. Clearly, we have a problem here that needs to be examined.

I am Pro Life ... actually being adopted myself, and support the Overturn of Roe v Wade. I think the way to make progress in this area is to let the states decide on what is best for the individual states.

I am for Less Government, something the Republican Party used to stand for ... but not anymore since the Neocons came in and took over.

So with me sharing some of my political views, yes my views are predominantly Republican, but I disagree so much with what the Republican Party has become, that I have become very disenfranchised with the Party, as a whole.

Also, I put substantial weight on character and integrity. Something Ron Paul excels in. Something Barack Obama has done very well in. Something John McCain has done okay in. But something Hillary Clinton has failed miserably in. And I find it very peculiar that one's character doesn't seem to matter to you.

Furthermore, I don't see how any of what you put in that list gives Hillary Clinton any edge in experience for running for the Highest Office in the Country than anyone else. The Feminist in you wants to equate First Lady with Presidential Experience and ... I'm sorry, but that doesn't fly.

Hillary Clinton has never managed a city. Hillary Clinton has never managed a state. She's been First Lady. And she's been a Senator in Congress. First Lady kind of comes default with being the Spouse of the President. So she's been a Senator, too, like I said. Well, so has Barack Obama and so has John McCain. So guess what, I view them all equally in the Experience Department ... as everyone should be doing. Being First Lady and giving speeches does not equate to Presidential Experience ... no matter how much you try to spin it around otherwise to push your Feminist Agenda.

Going back to me. Yes, I back Paul 100%, but since it is obvious that he is not going to get the nomination, and that I don't particularly care for John McCain ... because he is not giving us the "straight talk" he says he is on Iraq (and besides ... voted twice against the Bush Tax Cuts, anyway) ... I have no choice but to examine the Democratic Nominee and consider them as a possibility.

Senator Obama most closely aligns with my ideology of what Foreign Policy should be ... of the remaining candidates.

Here is another comparison between Obama on a number of the issues compared to Hillary.

http://thinkonthesethings.wordpress...t-hillary-clinton-comparison-compare-records/

On Experience ...

1. Barack Obama has both sufficient experience and a record of good judgment.

2. Barack Obama will have held elected office for 12 years before becoming President. Hillary Clinton will only have held office for 8 years.

3. While Clinton claims experience from her husband’s presidency, she will not release her White House papers to let us know specifically what that experience is.

4. She cited her experience as the reason she voted to go to Iraq, so that nullified her experience argument.

5. Even Bill Clinton said when people criticized him for being inexperienced in the 1990s that, “The same old experience is not relevant.”

6. Barack Obama will be older than Bill Clinton, Teddy Roosevelt, and John F. Kennedy were before they took the presidency. He can’t help that he takes care of himself and ages well.

7. As John Kerry argues, Barack Obama has more legislative experience than either Hillary Clinton or John Edwards.

8. Barack Obama has passed more progressive legislation in his lifetime than Hillary Clinton. As an Illinois Senator he passed over 200 of the bills he wrote.

These bills include:

1) A bill that expanded healthcare to over 100,000 people in Illinois.

2) A bill that set up community health centers to serve underserved populations.

3) A bill that provided the earned income tax credit to thousands of Illinois families.

4) A bill that reformed the death penalty that had sent innocent people to death row

5) A bill that banned gifts and meals from lobbyists.

While Hillary Clinton has spent more time in the U.S. Senate, Barack Obama has gotten more substantive legislation that affects the American people passed while he’s been there. Many of Clinton’s bills were about naming post offices and buildings. However, Obama’s legislation includes:

1. A bill with Senator Richard Lugar which bans the development of nuclear weapons.

2. A bill that created a public database where average Americans can see how the government is spending their money.

3. A bill that provided important assistance to address the situation in the Congo.

4. A bill that Nancy Pelosi calls “one of the toughest ethics reform” bills in this history of the Congress.

On Foreign Policy

1. Hillary Clinton voted for the Iraq War, while Barack Obama opposed the war from the start.

2. Hillary Clinton did not read the National Intelligence Estimate report before voting to send troops to Iraq.

3. Barack Obama agrees that America should talk to countries that are our foes, while Hillary Clinton takes issue with his position.

4. Barack Obama understands the basic facts about Pakistan’s electoral system better than Hillary Clinton.

5. While Barack Obama has proposed a detailed foreign policy plan, Hillary Clinton has not provided Obama’s level of detail.

6. Hillary Clinton’s current foreign policy advisers were largely supportive of the war in Iraq. Obama’s current foreign policy advisers are more “forward thinking” and generally did not support the war. We need people advising our president who have good judgment on foreign policy, not people who carry the old conventional wisdom.

On Ethics and Lobbyist Perform

1. Barack Obama has a superior record to Hillary Clinton on confronting lobbyists and special interests.

2. Barack Obama does not take federal PAC or federal lobbyist funding for his Presidential campaign, while Hillary Clinton does. In fact, Hillary Clinton said, “Lobbyists represent real Americans.”

3. Barack Obama has released his personal income tax returns to the public for scrutiny, while Hillary Clinton has not.

4. Hillary Clinton uses more earmarks and pork spending than any other Democratic nominee or Republican nominee.

5. Barack Obama agreed to take public financing for the general election if the Republican nominee will do the same. Hillary Clinton has not agreed to this.

6. Barack Obama passed the toughest ethics reform legislation in the U.S. Senate since Watergate, while Hillary has not passed a bill yet of this magnitude.

7. The majority of Barack Obama’s campaign funding comes from small donors, while the majority of Clinton’s comes from large donors.

8. Barack Obama was the leader in revealing to the public all of his federal earmark requests, while Hillary Clinton was not.

On Human Rights

1. Hillary Clinton was the last Democrat to support the torture pledge.

2. Hillary flip-flopped on the issue of whether America should use nuclear weapons.

3. Obama voted to ban the use of cluster bombs in civilian areas. Hillary Clinton voted against the ban. Cluster bombs have a high failure rate and are often mistaken by children for toys. They are indiscriminate and result in thousands of civilian deaths.

On Lying and Character

1. News reporters have shown that Bill Clinton lied to voters about being opposed to the Iraq War from the start. The reporters have video of the Clintons expressing support for Bush’s actions back in 2002.

2. While Hillary Clinton gives traditional Washington non-answers to questions, Barack Obama has been praised by commentators for telling the truth.

3. All the Democrats made a pledge not to campaign in Florida or Michigan because the two states broke Democratic rules by moving their primaries ahead of other states. While Obama and Edwards abided by the rules and took their names off the Michigan ballot, Clinton kept her name on the ballot. Right before the Florida primary, Clinton started working to get the Florida delegates counted even though she agreed not to do so at the beginning of the primary season. If she cannot keep her promises during the campaign season, how will she keep her promises as President?

And blacks pushed Obama over in Wisconsin and Iowa and the MANY other states Obama has won? Obama has mainstream appeal which has been compared to Oprah. She transcends race. And so do Obama.

Blacks have absolutely pushed Obama over in Wisconsin and other states. An astounding 90% of blacks broke for Obama in Wisconsin; this level of homogeny is historic. If he was only pulling around half the black vote, the same proportion Hillary is pulling among the female vote - especially in states like VA & MD where blacks make upwards of 20-30% of the electorate - It would be a much different race. Conversely, if Hillary was pulling an unimaginable 90% of the female vote, Obama (and pretty much everyone else) would have dropped out months ago.

My post had nothing to do with whether or not Obama has mainstream appeal. Of course he does; that's one of the reasons why I voted for him. My post was about the double-standard of blaming Hillary's appeal on "gender-preference", when that 90-point bloc of black voters leaves Obama's camp much more vulnerable to the very same criticism from a racial perspective.

There's another example of how you personally attack other members..

Maybe you should read the COC ,and the TOS..

Talk about "fallacious".

Any chance of you maybe dusting off your Thesaurus and finding a different word?

I mean, you manage to insert "fallacious" in just about every other post..

I'm starting to think maybe you need a blowjob or something..

You, and about a handful of other posters in this Forum, are the last few to be pointing out what constitutes a "personal attack" around here.

If the Mod Team received a little MORE cooperation from those claiming to be "attacked" then I wouldn't be posting this.

As you were Gentleman.
