I have found the above link to be a great way to keep track of how much I eat, I was at 218 in May and today I hit 193.
I have found it to be more difficult to lose weight and keep it off as I get older. Today I ate about 1200 calories, my plan (I don't like the word diet) allows for 1600, but I really didn't feel like eating any more.

I have no idea, never looked at the calorie content of anything.

No idea, I don't count calories.

I don't count my calories but I do pay attention to the amount of salt and calories in things majority of the time, though of course I have my cheat days. I have cut out a lot of snacking that I used to do and a lot of soda, which I am sure helped tremendously, although I don't really see it. One of the things that I think keeps me having a little bit is a weight is that one of my medications for my asthma is a steroid, so that kind of sucks.

I don't pay attention...just usually don't overeat with the wrong stuff. I don't drink sodapop (ever), also do very little snacking except for usually an entire dark chocolate bar everyday.

Good going on your weight! That's some pretty serious progress.

I weighed in the 220's for years, until I went on sort of a diet in 2005, and got it down to 180 pounds by mid-March 2006. Most recently I was around 185, and I have been back up to 200 a couple years ago...

I used reverse psychology on myself by CALLING it a diet. I always thought, for decades, that I like food too much to ever imagine going on a diet...so I called it that, to prove to myself that I could actually do something I thought I could never do.

For a moment I was incredibly worried about you
As you wrote the above it looks like you have been eating 218 and now 193 calories per day. Gulp!

I don't count either. I eat high protein, low carb and have lost about 27 pounds using this approach.

Probably about 2000 to 2400 calories a day.

Unfortunately they aren't all good calories (alcohol)...but otherwise, I consume about 250 calories at breakfast, 250 at lunch and about 800 - 1200 at dinner, with about 250 calories in fruit or protein snacks during the day.

I don't believe in calories. Does anyone really know how many calories are in any particular food item, or how many you burn while pumping away at the gym? It's all based on averages and experiments done under laboratory conditions. My rule is never eat anything you can't lift.

congrats! an approach or plan seems to work best. If I don't count I eat larger portions.

I've no idea. I judge my weight by the fit of my clothes and eat less if they start to feel tighter.

When I have to unbutton my trousers to sit comfortably I'll try to eat less, sure, but more important, I try to be less sedentary – get off my lazy ass. :)

I don't know. I try to have 4 meals a day and eat healthy... even if the shedule doesn't always allow me to follow that. As of late I'm also transgressing with quantities and fancy food. I'm ok with it because while I'm 25kg overweight I am also "athletic". Let's say I don't mind getting heavier... until my clothes still fit. I've never had problems losing weight.

I think I'm usually under 2000 calories per day. I've lost 30 lbs since last August, and most of that was within the first few months.

I focus on unprocessed foods. Lots of vegetables, fruit, whole grains.

Fish as the major protein, followed by grill chicken. Red meat usually once a week or twice at most.

Trying to control my sweet tooth is the main challenge so I try to limit desserts in both size and frequency.

I've been to a lot of barbecues, potlucks and parties this summer and was worried that would wreck my weight loss plans but to my surprise, despite those indulgences my weight is holding steady around 167 lbs. I'm 5'10".

One little trick I've found helpful before a big meal out is to have some raw mushrooms ahead of time. Really bulky and filling and helps prevent overeating of high-cal stuff. Apples and dill pickles are also helpful in this way.

A 29 year old male 5"9 and 140 lbs with moderate activity will maintain weight at 2400-2500 calories a day. Some days I don't consume even 1000 and on others, particularly on vacation, it can be well over 4000.

Did the maths, probably around 2500-3000 per day.
I'm 189cm and weigh about 93kg, whatever that is in imperial units.

I realize this is a 4 1/2 year old topic thread. But I just found it. I've mentioned in a different topic last year that I started using LostIt! App and website last May 2020. I'm currently at a goal of 1,200 calories per day. My Doc told me to not go below that because it's most likely the range in which your body, male and female, will go into starvation mode. I've been at this level for about 4 months. When I first started using the app I was in the 2,000 calories per day range. As i lost weight the app lowered the amount of calories I am allowed. My goal was to lose 1 pound a week. In order to get down to that average I had to adjust the calories down 400 calories.

I had lost 40 pounds just by cutting down on what i was eating and making better choices over a period of about a year. Then for the next 5 months I was only able to lose 4 pounds. That's when I started using this app to track my calories. I have lost an additional 30 pounds since May 2020. I have another 32 pounds to go to get down to an ideal weight for my age.

Let's see now....

3 stuffed cabbages for breakfast

4 stuffed cabbages for lunch

4 more stuffed cabbages for dinner

And one more cold for a midnight snack

Approximately 2000 calories

No idea how many calories I eat a day. I just eat. That said, I am extremely active. Aside from working with my hands, I also workout 5-6 days a week.
