How many different people or ways will they come up with ...

Something ironic is the Republicans are blaming Obama for the recession, saying "Obama owns the recession now", "after this many months, it's Obama's recession." Dig around the forum and you'll see this.

...but are giving credit to Bush for getting Bin Ladin.

Fox "news" will be the first to bring up the concept of Obama stirring up possible terrorist attacks because of this "rogue" action. After all, there are plenty of "sleeper cells" right here in the states, and any action of terror will be Obama's fault, the worst president in history.

Also, May 1st is the anniversary of the formation of the Illuminati, so I'm sure that eye on top of the pyramid will be voting for the GOP in the next election.

Oh come on Joshua_me, this is good news to every American and all are happy this President did this.

And, yes, the Administration has already warned Americans about overseas travel realizing this could raise danger levels and I'm sure they didn't do that on Fox's orders. :-)

So you claim, no cites or anything, I see. Nothing I said is incorrect--- it's documented, I recall Dubya's words, and the events at the time. Dubya took the fight to Iraq which was and is still NOT Pakistan. So, yeah, I won't say that Dubya gave up completely, I'm pretty sure he wanted Osama--- it would've helped his legacy politically sure BUT I don't doubt Dubya seriously wanted the prick dead, but Dubya put himself in a pathetic position that made it improbable.

You said he stopped. That is factually incorrect. We know because the CIA agents and officials that were working for the agency have said so.

The only involvement that either of your presidents have in this is the fact that they were both Presidents signing off orders. You have your intelligence and your military to thank for Bin Laden's death. The way you squabble over which of your 'daddies' is the best is just so funny to outsiders. Thanks for providing me with a smile over breakfast!

Bingo. Obama didn't find him, nor did he kill him. McCain wouldn't have either if he had won. The intelligence community and military did it all. (and quite spectacularly it seems)

^Very true, quasar.

But I still give props to the President for signing off on the mission.

More things could have gone wrong that right.

He was bold, took the risk, did the right thing.

Couldn't agree more. However, I've ordered a bulk delivery of popcorn ready for when the Republicans put their spin on it.

Yes,here's something I read on another board..

POTUS announcement interrupts celebrity apprentice finale....

Obviously Obama knew OBL was dead much earlier in the evening.
Yet he waited until THAT time to break into programming.
WOW. Justs WOW.

Sneaky, ain't he?

You think the timing was an accident?
This is how politics works.

Unreal.

Mark his words.

They will turn out to be true. Fox will be frantically trying to figure out a way to make this a bad thing. Something that will appear more like blame than praise.

One angle will also be that it took too long. That Obama should have been able to do this earlier.

Just give them 12 hours to develop their poisonous spin.

The timing was brilliant.

Some days you get to make lemonade.

Well, what I consider main stream Conservative talk radio, Bill Bennett's program this morning they are giving credit to both Presidents for this. Bush for starting the search and Obama for finishing it. They actually corrected callers who suggested that Obama deserved no credit.

They also mentioned, as part of the highlighting Bush's role, that according to a New York Times story, ( I haven't had time this morning to look for it) a critical lead that led to the success of this operation came from detainees at GITMO.

I agree with the program's tone on this, it is a win-win for all involved and Obama and Bush both deserve credit for their parts in it. The voices that say otherwise are the voices of the partisanship that is tearing up our political debate.

It may very well turn out to be a very bad thing. We just don't know yet. In the meantime, we should celebrate that he's gone on the one hand, and continue to protect ourselves on the other.

But the truth is... Bush said mission acom0plished

Obama accomplished the mission.

its just that simple.

Except Bush didn't -- he just got put in front of a sign someone else put up that didn't meant what the liberal Bush-haters wanted it to mean.

Unless Obama (or Bush) was the one that fired the shot that killed Osama, they don't deserve credit.

So his statement is accurate.

Sure they deserve some -- the guy in charge always deserves credit, just as he deserves blame when things go wrong. But it's like congratulating the owner of the horse that wins the Kentucky Derby: you know he's not the one who did the work.

Yes. Obama started looking for Osama again. Dubya stopped in 2005 and publicly downplayed the search for Osama multiple times as he focused his attention in Iraq.

"Stopped" -- not exactly. He shut down the special task force tasked with only that job. The hunt continued on an ordinary tasking level -- which I would surmise is functionally close to stopping looking.

Definitely. It takes someone to give the right orders. Obama did.

I've been listening to CNN plus bits elsewhere while reading online. One source -- they sort of run together for me -- gave credit clear back to Clinton, because a lot of the information obtained then laid major groundwork for understanding later information.

The detainees as an important source has been mentioned more than once, as well.

But whose hand would I like to shake and say "Thanks"? Easy: the guy who pulled the trigger.

I like what was just said by a government guy: if the opportunity to take bin Laden alive had presented itself, the team was to take it -- but him putting up resistance meant "shoot back". So they were ready to grab him alive, but it wasn't any big deal if they couldn't.
