  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

I didn't know this, if you are fat just starve often ...

Not entirely sure, but I thought I had read that you were on Metformin, If so, has your doctor take you off of it?

and if not, what's your dosage and at what times do you take it?

just curious as I'm also having excellent results in managing my diabetes....haven't had to take a shot of *insulin since January 10th; now taking two 500mg. tabs of Met in the am, and again at early pm-ish (lunch)
January 2nd. my A1C was 5.6

*
orders for insulin are now to check blood sugar before meals. If below 150, take no insulin. If above, take 3 units of Novolog..if sugar is close to 200 or above, take 4 units
Really? Wow. I'm at 1000 mg of metformin twice a day AND 55 units of Novolin 30/70 twice a day.

I want those fatties chained to treadmills with dynamos to generate electricity.

No treading? No welfare check!

Is this fat shaming ?
I wouldn't say this because i'm 100% sure they cannot and will not do this.

That's my dosage as well. I'm on Januvia (Sitagliptin) 100mg, too, once daily. Januvia was recommended to me by a fellow Jubber and I asked the diabetic doctor about it. He wrote out a prescription on the spot. It makes it much easy to control my blood sugar.

Hehe I'm off all meds. All I have to do is eat once a day 4-5 days a week. Doctor monitor me regularly. No need for any meds, which was exactly I was looking for. I absolutely hate the idea of having to take meds for the rest of my life.

Never forget what you are, the rest of the world will not. Wear it like armor and it can never be used to hurt you.

"This sense that weight loss should be effortless is magnified by persistent social obsession with thinness. Not only do we, as a culture, give unearned privileges and benefits to people simply because they are thin, but we also treat being overweight as a personal failure. A larger sized body is treated like its own scarlet letter."

I remember when I used to make excuses about my weight.

Was going to make another thread. Then I remembered this thread. Might as well continue the discussion in this thread.

So, certain member here has said that studies show that intermittent fasting causes diabetes. I finally had some time to myself and looked this up. Here are a few links.

Here are a few things that jumped out at me from this "new research" that suggests intermittent can cause diabetes.

(1) It is ONE research.

(2) It is NOT peer reviewed.

(3) Study was done on rats.

(4) The study involved making the adult rats not eat every other day.

For three months, healthy adult rats were subjected to intermittent fasting consisting of no food every other day.

If I remember correctly, a rat's metabolic rate is a lot faster than human's, relatively. A rat's day of fasting is like a week's worth of fasting for a human.

This is in stark contrast to several peer reviewed studies ON HUMANS regarding intermittent fasting.

If nothing else, peer reviewed studies have shown that it is safe for people. For me personally, it has cured me of all my ills, including diabetes. I am now off all medications and regular tests continue to show good results. My cholesterol was in the 300s. Now it is in the 150s. Had high blood pressure. Now it is 112/70s.

And again, I am not "starving" myself. Don't know why people continue to insist on using that word. I am not restricting calories at all. I have quite a big appetite. I just don't eat 3 meals a day like society tells me to do.

I used to eat only once a day. Now I've been experimenting with just time restricted feeding. All I'm doing is not eat for 16 hours and then eat in the remaining 8 hours. Get that? I don't eat anything until 12pm and I don't eat anything after 8pm. This very simple strategy is more effective than years of medications they have put me through. And like I said before, I can now eat cheese and drink milk. Even my lactose intolerance is gone.

I just wish there were more studies to find out why this simple time restricted feeding strategy has made such a drastic change in me.

You beat this horse to death a few months ago.

And back then, you insisted on intermittent fasting causes or could cause diabetes. Any chance you could elaborate?

I've heard an hour interview with Dr. Fung on fasting---he lives and works in upstate NY---he sounds very convincing --he also said stop eating a 5pm---and then don't eat until 7 or 8 the next morning ---do it twice a week---

Yup. He's one of the more vocal advocates for incorporating fasting into our daily lives for healthy living.

The idea is very simple. Humans did not evolve to eat constantly like modern humans do. Hence we get all kinds of health issues. Humans evolved to eat and go thru periods of fasting. Some people are more sensitive to the change in this diet than others. Some can tolerate constant eating more than others.

Trying out fastig has changed my life. Before this, I was always taking all kinds of prescriptions to deal with high cholesterol, high BP, IBS, autoimmune disorder, diabetes, joint inflamation, narcolepsy, etc. All these conditions magically went away after just a few months of intermittent fasting with no help from meds.

I know I sound like a broken record. But if you found something really really good, wouldn't you want to tell people about it?

Intermittent fasting. What one eats is important also. Vegetables and high protein content is my focus. Also, be active. I walk the parking lot at work during my break and lunch.
