We're still waiting for the pic of your incision, Kuli - need to see how your surgeon did with your style replacement vs. Neil's

I've been using a juice bottle, but now that I have the one from the hospital things are easier.

I feel rather medieval in the morning -- I open the window and toss the contents into the back yard.

Ahhh... that explains why I heard the gardener cursing! :)

For once I decided to skip taking an oxie at bed time. I got to sleep okay, but this morning there are little sharp twinges when I do anything but basic forward/back motion. The only thing I can think of that would cause those is the suture line where the ligament capsule around the joint got sewn back together.

Gentle stretching the long term solution to that?

Maybe, but I don't think I should be stretching so long as it hurts.

And speaking of hurting, I've learned can walk around the yard doing yard work just fine, but walking on pavement and the hard floor in a store is painful. Even so, I made it to the store and back for cookies without crutches.

I drove to the pharmacy and . . . well, I cheated on the way back, because I couldn't keep up using the clutch: I stayed in first gear and sort of drifted through a stop sign, then pulled in and just turned the engine off. But the effort showed that I can drive so long as I don't have to work the clutch quite so often.

Impossible to use the clutch with your right leg? (Or your other right leg, in case I'm mixed up.)

The right foot does the accelerator and brake. The clutch is over on the left side, far enough I'm not sure it's even possible to reach it with the right foot -- I think the steering column would prevent it.

But we just went for a drive, and I was fine -- so I'm fairly good for trips outside town, because I don't have to shift frequently. That means I can start doing some of my conservation work on my own again! (!)
