  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

I HATE asking for moving help.

A couple of years ago, between more "permanent" jobs, I spent some time working with a local moving company.

Besides the fact that I'm sure it wasn't good for my back, I learned these things:
1. Moving is dangerous.
2. Moving well takes thought and planning, which are helped by experience.
3. Movers should always be tipped generously.

...so I'm hoping that next time I have to move, I can afford to hire movers. The last time I moved, after I had lived in this one place for 12 years, I am certain that I threw away a TON of stuff. Not metaphorically. A TON.

...Nowadays, I will lend out my pickup before I say I'll help move!

It sounds like you've got a reasonable load, Trans, exactly the kind of move that you and some friends can do effectively. There's a lot to be said for frugality in possessions!

I did all that moving from Chicago to Minneapolis in January. :)

I now possess...

1 double bed.
1 5-drawer dresser.
1 TV.
1 desk and desk chair.
Books, movies, music, clothes, kitchen stuff.
1 big-ass scary black didlo

That's it.
Fixed it for you.

That dosn't sound like a lot of stuff... unless you have thousands upon thousands of books/movies/CDs/clothes/ ect.

I have around six boxes of books and three boxes of dvds.

One box of records.

Three boxes of clothes.

Give or take. ;)

That isn't much at all then. Doesn't the place your moving too have an elevator? That would make using a two wheeler a breeze and cut time in half.

Well, we'd at least have to split a case.

At least.
