  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

i need white people's perspective on this

I grew up on a res..............don't try telling me what goes on there.

you're pretty good at pointing out problems....how 'bout some answers?

Despite popular belief, I'm actually not a know-it-all. I don't have all the answers. Not even most. Or even some. What I do know is there is something seriously wrong with a subculture when the popular music depict violence against women... and people don't seem to see anything wrong with growing percentage of births without fathers while the super-majority use the social safety net of the absolute bare minimum as the norm.

Again, we're not going to solve anything if we keep repeating the same politically correct attitude that we've been having in the last 30 years. It hasn't helped in the past. Why on earth do some people think continuing to sugar coat it will make anything better in the future?

I should've said "certain white people's perspective" in the thread title :? thanks for your input you can go play now :)

Because he can only point out the problems in a simple fashion and doesn't even have a clue to how complicated the issue is. Repeating the same stats over and over blaming it on the love for the movie Scarface and the Godfather.

Take the figure of unemployment. Never does he bring up that technology is taking out more and more jobs because the human element is gone. Not just the jobs themselves .
If you file a online application for a 10 bill a hr job at Home Depot and have a record your application is trashed. There is no human element to give you a interview and a chance (you have no chance) the technology has weeded you out already,... wiped you out. I certainly have some mistakes in my background and would get the same shredder as a young black man with some criminal record if I applied for the job too.
For many jobs the same technology that passed you for no criminal record knocks you out for a bad credit rating, another strike where you will never get a human interview for a job. A low wage dead end job in many cases.
Technology is color blind and a felony on your record makes you unemployable in 2014 for a lot of jobs who use the net for job applications. Just one tiny detail that zombie doesn't even throw into his rant.
It is making extremely hard for a great many men to find work with a tainted background. Everyone needs to survive and its hopeless when a shit load of things keep wrecking you.

Well, for a starter, I've always supported giving people second chances. The current system of excluding people with records simply makes no sense to me.

Are you willing to admit, though, that 70% of all births within a community is an extremely high percentage? The bad news is it's climbing. It didn't get to 70% over night.

I used to be in love with a black man. Through him, I was exposed to the mainstream black culture. While I wouldn't say I'm an expert, I've seen enough to make me care, especially about the direction the black community is taking as a whole.

that looked pleasant and non intimidating ^^ I love that show
maybe if more black family living like that instead they copy horrible reality show

So the black family should aspire to have a sassy teen daughter, a dimwitted son who gets a girl pregnant, and a sassy young daughter with an annoying super intellectual friend?

Got it.

Meanwhile, white people have GREAT role models - like Breaking Bad, or Sons Of Anarchy, or if we're just chasing sitcoms to be like, Two and a Half Men, or Surviving Jack, or Dads, or Arrested Development, or 2 Broke Girls...

For the love of christ. All musical genre's depict violence against women. You ever read any of those lyrics to those Golden Oldies? There's a reason why "Goodbye Earl" was so popular with women in country music - you get tired o'hearing it and want a little back. Popular Rap is just more blatant about the misogyny. And all kids have fathers. The kids didn't suddenly fall from the goddamn sky. How about you complain about the deadbeat dads everywhere instead of bitchin' about the supposed high-life o'Welfare Queens?

That might help, but I remember watching the Cosby show and Fresh Prince and while I liked 'em, I also thought they were rich as hell and what they did for work wasn't remotely possible for anyone I knew, black or white. If something is too far removed from an individual's reality it isn't considered an option. I don't think the core of the problem is people imitating television.

I know ^^ Im not talking specifically..like Tv as the most accurate device to brainwash people/spread agenda. I just found few examples from tv shows but they're not the ultimate role model. I would put M.L.K at the highest pedestal though..for positive influence

Unfortunately that's exactly what it means in some circles. Every culture has an anti-authority, anti-education, anti-establishment clause.

ya but what I sense that in black african american it's so widespread until it became staple "culture", it's mind concerning.

Here Karen, I give some examples where you guys really exalted ^^:
1. Football career
2. Singing (dont tryna uh-huh :nono:)
3. Basketball
4. hmm..whatelse..

I don't have all the answers. Not even most. Or even some.

This weakens your theory tremendously, right?

If your theory is that black people have "misplaced priorities" and black ladies are "loud and rude" then you need to have some practical remedy that will rectify the situation.

It's as though you're only saying black people should have different priorities or black ladies shouldn't be loud and rude.

Unless you can propose some sort of policy or practice that follows from your observation, it's almost entirely worthless.

O yeah..^^

Everything has been said pretty much already.

To your point about returning activists, Mr. King would call out the Hip Hop subculture wherever it occurs, but he would speak more loudly at the obscene income gap.

There is much evidence in his speeches and sermons to suggest that he would be the advocate of the poor today, not the Blacks only, and would be an able champion of social justice for the poor. Sadly, there appears to be no voice capable of leading a revolt against the hegemony of the wealthy in the U.S. today.

The land belongs to the rich. The rest of us are just kidding ourselves when we talk of equality or human rights. We have the right to serve and buy from the oligarchs and plutocrats.

not murch be say anythang

Are we getting closer to the answer? he was also a strong advocate for education across the color lines. i think he'd have a conniption at the state of US education

As far as the entertainment culture, we probably agree on a lot of things, but doesn't corporate America "profit at any cost" have a responsibility as a corporate citizen?

As to your 70% unwed mothers............think, please. Many of these women are partnered with a man. They're not married, because he works, but earns too little to raise a family. Medicair, Welfare , Whateveryouwannacallit.............is used to make ends meat. These all aren't deadbeats.....some are conically under/unemployed. And people will do what they must to feed their kids.

You may wonder...Why doesn't the state go after the father for child support? because when a child is born you can't afford.....you can't afford your man going to jail for non-payment of child support....which he can't pay because he's unemployed. So the baby ends up fathered by "unknown".

Let's not go screaming "personal responsibility" without accounting for all factors.

As to how rough it was in your former country..................that's unfortunate that anyone should live like that....but it has little to do with American society. We have different histories and cultures.

It's a collective effort...

Yes, all the taxpayers have to pay whether they have produced five children or NO children.

The teachers blame the parents for not raising their kids properly in my country. And the parents blame the teachers for not raising their kids properly.
