  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

i think i am atheist ... Are you Atheist ?

No, I believe in my own personal god which happens to be me. :D

IRL, I'm sort of between Atheist and Apatheist (meaning I don't give a fuck who's up there, everywhere, somewhere, or nowhere).

To answer the question, no I'm not atheist and I do believe in a god, but not the one described by the religions. Not the negative stuff anyways. I think we are all apart of the energy that is god and we are all eternal souls that always existed and always will exist.

People always talk about proof but I can't "prove" man went to the moon either, the pics could be a fake for all I know lol, just as an example. I have seen a spirit with my own 2 eyes so nobody can tell me they don't exist. I don't see how anybody can't at least believe in us being souls or spirits because when it's not present in a body the body is dead. That is just a fact that people have known for a long time.

It doesn't really matter what any of us believes about god because the truth is whatever it is whether we believe or not. All I know is that everything will be fine for us after we die and that we are loved and looked after forever. I don't believe any of our souls are in any danger of hell or any punishment. But anyways I'm talking too much because convincing people about their beliefs is the hardest thing in the world to do and I'm not even gonna try lol. We will all have the truth about god and the meaning of life revealed to us in our own time. ;)

You only need to look around to know there can be no god - except an extreme sadistic one - having created this world. If this extreme sadist has created this world, we must suicide ourselves right NOW. This world is an insult to mankind.

Holy crap :=D: ...those are some fantastic lyrics! Have I seen you guys play?
Those are on the scale of "I am black wizards". Love it.
I only wish could write like this, Thumbs up
Horns down

Of course. When I meet religious people it hurts my feelings.

i don't follow anyone ...
Do you ?

No. I don't. Does that make me an atheist? I do not believe that there is any transcendent power to which anyone may effectually appeal. Does that make me an atheist? I guess it does.

I believe that there are gods, but they are social constructs--very powerful constructs, but constructs all the same.

I'm more or less an atheist, and at one time was very anti-religion. Now not so much. Whatever makes you happy...

I'd like to think there were spirits, but another explanation is that their "appearance" is just a break in whatever it is that separates "them" from us in some parallel universe.

^SoundWave, like you, I love greek mythology and the gods of old, the stories.

The ancient greeks had a way of making their gods so "human" that it was possible to relate, to engage.

I'm indifferent. And not really sure what I believe. But I've found that I don't particularly care.

Tho if I were to believe in a god or gods, it would be the ones from Greek Mythology. Waaaaaaaaay cooler than a chick who "mysteriously gets knocked up and claims its the son of god."

How about Leda and the swan?

I believe in God, and I don't believe that he is a sadist. I think we are all sadists in our own little ways, some moreso than others.

I know that a lot of believers give God a bad name, but try not to blame God for His followers. It makes me think of the quote "Hate the player not the Game."

Until Jebus himself SHINES his light on me (Hallelujer!)... I'll be agnostic. I'm about 99% atheist and 1% Go Jebus though, but I don't wanna claim atheism until I'm 100% sure God doesn't exist, which I will never know.

I used to think so too, but I'm on the chapter in The God Delusion called "Why There Almost Certainly Is No God," wherein Richard Dawkins promises to explain why the presence of a god is very improbable.

I'm not certain that can be proved or supported with truly compelling evidence, but I'm going into it with an open mind. Maybe there is scientific evidence suggesting that the presence of a god is unlikely. In that case, I'd resign to calling myself an atheist (I currently count myself agnostic).

Dawkins presents arguments, not evidence in the scientific sense, so you may be disappointed. Honestly - while I mostly agree with him - I think Dawkins shoots himself in the foot by over-reaching, and using questionable language for effect.

I also wonder why so many atheists chose to write from the negative point (there is no god/can't be gods, etc.) as opposed to the positive - presenting atheism as an elegant world-view, capable of satisfying both intellectual and spiritual needs, and allowing full understanding of personal responsibility and potential.

And, as stated before, I am an atheist in the strict sense of not believing in a single omniscient, omnipotent, god.

I haven't studied religion or have enough evidence to disprove the bible, God, or religion like some do.

I was never really forced to go to church. I just hid in the library. It must have been a great church though. We had our very own child molester there. Because of course that's obviously the sign of good churches.

I used to be really anti-christian. Not so much anymore. As long as punks don't get in my face and go "Lawlz you're going to hell for not believing in God." That used to happen way too much and the "OMG YOU NEED JEBUS" crap. It was annoying.

I won't lie and say I don't care what happens when I die. I won't deny that there might be some mighty powerful being or beings out there. Whether they are unseen to our poor and closed eyes or if they exist in another realm. I just don't have the time to argue about religion and whether it exists or not. I have so many other things I can be doing. I have my morals whether I'm a sinner or condemned or whatever they wanna call me.

I just want to live.

...So agnostic.

Because it is a reaction forced by religion.
When someone telling you about god, you don't respond ?

Oh, I fully agree that it is an understandable reaction, particularly when you feel like religion is being forced on you. That being said, though, if I was to deliberately set out to write an essay or book about being an atheist (as opposed to having a discussion, or reacting to specific comments), should I not consider something other than the usual negative view? If for no other reason than to have a different approach?

Think of it this way - if you are planning to tell kids than Santa isn't real, "There is no freakin' Santa, no go eat your dinner" probably won't go over well. "You have a lot of friends and family who love you and like giving you presents, and they like getting presents from you, and we all want to spend time together during the holidays" is likely to go over better.

Theists often talk about the joy or beauty or comfort of their beliefs. So should be atheists.

about your statement; youn are very disorganized:lol::corn:.

and the ?; I do, I follow Jesus, and what is Good and Holy in the Roman Catholic Church. BTW, all Religion is organized, even those who think otherwise.

True,
what is the solution ? :)
