I don't reason in the "god" logics. Reformulate your question.
No.
I believe in God.
I believe there is something out there. Maybe we are descendants of aliens? Maybe life ended up here from somewhere else? Or maybe it's just plain evolution? I dunno. I just don't believe in the version of God that these scumbag preachers talk about.
I believe there are spirits all around us too. I don't think you just disappear when you die.
I used to think so too, but I'm on the chapter in The God Delusion called "Why There Almost Certainly Is No God," wherein Richard Dawkins promises to explain why the presence of a god is very improbable.
I'm not certain that can be proved or supported with truly compelling evidence, but I'm going into it with an open mind. Maybe there is scientific evidence suggesting that the presence of a god is unlikely. In that case, I'd resign to calling myself an atheist (I currently count myself agnostic).
When you die, you get recycled. Earth to earth, ashes to ashes, dust to dust. Complex proteins, carbohydrates, and lipids, to carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, and sulfur.
If you have kids, your DNA may linger a while after the rest of you is gone. (If you don't have kids, versions of your DNA will still linger, as long as there are living beings on this planet.)
If you've made an impression on other people, your ideas will live after you. For a while, anyway.
If you're trying to do honest research shouldn't you read a book about the "proof" of there being a God as well as the one denying so?
And I love it when people bash others posts saying they believe in God or whatever because they have no proof, while they themselves have no proof there isn't one. What is that called? Hip? Hippie? Hippo? Oh yes... hypocrisy.
Formerly. Although I don't believe in god, atheism has come to mean more than just that. Atheism now represents a movement which advocates generally against religion. I'm only interested in rebutting the particulars of some religions.
