I thought things had gone quiet onthe gun front

I don't understand what's so superhuman about it^. Some guy put a bunch of duffle bags in his SUV and then took the elevator upstairs with a luggage rack. I think my grandma could do that.

And also set up a bunch of cameras too? This hottie asks a lot of the same questions lots of people are...

I think most very average people could set up a bunch of cameras.

I just can't see how a retired accountant with no prior criminal record or political affiliations can transport 10 suitcases of guns and ammo into a gun free hotel, live the good life for days then open fire on innocent thousands. It just doesn't add up.

Even Sheriff Joseph Lombardo said: “At face value he had to have some help at some point. Maybe he was a superhuman who figured this out all on his own but it would be hard for me to believe that.”

I'm perplexed that there are those who buy into conspiracy theories so easily, without any thought that the shooter was highly intelligent, and physically able. Why should the shooter have needed the assistance of another, or others?

I didn’t realize Cameras were that complicated.

I’m sorry that you are in constant need of looking for a conspiracy because you can’t handle the reality that the world can be a real ugly place some times.

I just watched that video, i am surprised that the Freemasons or the Illuminati were not mentioned. I wonder how many guns that guy has access to?

Mikey3000 doesn't really believe these stories. I believe he's an intelligent person, he's just playing the internet troll. ..|

Probably a lot more than he took to the hotel.

By the way, didn't he rent the room several days before the shooting? I believe he rented it 4 days before and rented it for a week. He had plenty of time to smuggle his weapons in without suspicion and plenty of time to set up the cameras.

Conspiracy theorists have a one-track mind which can last for decades. People still believe that Kennedy didn't die, and neither did Elvis. Man never landed on the moon and that the WTC was a planned implosion. And no amount of evidence to the contrary will sway them. In fact, in many cases, they edit their own evidence to support their conspiracies.

I wonder how many of them think Flat Earthers are nuts?

^My apologies Neil, i was referring to the conspiracy nut in the video, and his access to guns. Yes, i believe that he was there for 4 days before he went on the rampage.

He had also visited Vegas a couple of months prior to the shooting as well.

These gun nuts should start shooting up nra conventions and gun shows. Be interesting to see the reaction of the gun nuts being shot at by another gun nut...

No need to apologise, I was referring to him as well, and to conspiracy theorists in general. They come up with the conspiracy and then pick and choose any evidence which supports it even though their 'evidence' is taken completely out of context and edited to suit even though a little research would blow their conspiracy to hell. And when the evidence isn't available, they invent it.

(By the way, I couldn't watch the video. I could hear it, but the image froze. Firefox upgraded yesterday and I've been having a few problems with it.)

They smart, security would be so high ...

Yeah, the logistics are no problem; even the skill with which he set things up is simple if you have three months to surf the web for ideas.

He wouldn't even have needed a big rack of luggage that might have made folks wonder; just take a couple of bags when you show up, then later go out for dinner and come back with another, go out during the night and grab another....

LOL

Or that "a 64-year-old man" would have problems hauling that much gear.

Of interest:

I've been wondering why he shot out two windows, especially when one didn't have a good angle on the crowd. But look at this:

webSHOOT_targets_Oct5-17_copy_new.jpg

The report is that he actually put holes in those aviation fuel tanks -- and the second window had a perfect view of them. Presumably, he thought they'd do a Hollywood and blow up, killing a few thousand people. Thankfully, aviation fuel is a LOT harder to ignite than Hollywood expects us to believe, and the tanks a lot safer as well.

That's stupid. Over nine-tenths of all violence using guns happens in less than 2% of the counties in the U.S. -- the rest are safer than Europe. For that matter, over eight-tenths of violence involving guns is criminals shooting criminals.

So don't be a criminal and don't go to where criminals shoot each other, and you're as safe as in Paris.

Another update I found: investigators found a paper with a series of numbers they couldn't figure out. But someone with a clue about such things noticed that they were apparently ballistic calculations using the height of the room and the distance to the concert -- apparently this accountant was good with numbers (go figure).

The insane thing about that is he did calculations which have the purpose of increasing accuracy, and then used a bump-stock which degrades accuracy about on par with having someone punching you in the gut while you're shooting.

It's kind of interesting- people in other countries avoid the US because of fear of guns; Americans respond by buying more guns.

If you read some of the gun violence sites that I linked in other posts, there's some weird things that have been going on with gun violence in the US.

The US has been steady in the number mass shooting events- there's about 20 per year. What has changed is the number of people killed in these incidents- and that is directly connected to the efficiency and lethality of the weapons used.

There's about 90 people who die in the US every day from gunshots. About 2/3 of those deaths are suicides; the rate of suicide by self-inflicted gunshot has been increasing in military veterans. Everyone keeps arguing over the connection between mental health and gun violence as if this is responsible for the mass shootings. The reality is that mental health is more connected to suicides by gunshot.

So don't be a criminal and don't go to where criminals shoot each other, and you're as safe as in Paris.
And that's probably what most people visiting the US need to know- because of the types of gun incidents and the concentration of gun crimes, most areas of the US are safe for tourists.

... then used a bump-stock which degrades accuracy about on par with having someone punching you in the gut while you're shooting.
The metaphor that I was thinking of is a firehose. It's pretty easy to aim a firehose into a crowd and hit someone- anyone. If you're aiming the firehose at one person in the crowd, then it's a lot harder.

I saw an interview with people at a gun show today. Several of them were justifying the need for bump fire stocks for sport shooting. Obviously this was someone who had never used one. It's hard enough to manage the recoil on a semiautomatic weapon; with bump fire, it's just spraying bullets like an amateur.
