I thought things had gone quiet onthe gun front

Does anyone know which militia Paddock belonged to?

Were there no red flags when this guy was purchasing all pf these military weapons and 1000s of rounds of ammo. It is really fucked up that someone could purchase all of this without questions being raised and asked. The NRA and their leaders and followers should be ashamed.

Although let's be honest anyone who does that IS mentally ill

No dear. Some people - quite a few people, in fact, seem to be just bigoted fucking assholes with access to guns and the will to use them. Combined, of course, with ease of access.

Makes me wonder how people here think bias or bigoted behavior works. What, bias just magically stops being petty self-serving indulgence based on inaccuracies about groups of people, that it somehow ends once possible weaponry is in the picture? No bias involved, must be ....mental illness? Despite statistics otherwise, of course.

What an interesting fantasy life some of ya'll have.

It might depend upon your definition of mentally ill. I was responding to a post where the person consistently twists everything I post into a pretzel and then launches in to a tirade.

Oh, don't flatter yourself. These particular thread replies have nothing to do with you specifically. You might not have noticed but there's at least two more individuals who've uttered statements along similar lines recently and I talked to them as well. Now, me not replying to your rape thread is me being specific in my replies. Because I've come to the conclusion you're two-faced on that score so I'll not interact with you there. Not double faced like Ben or a troll, just the regular 'ole human unwillingness to look its behavior and the affects of its judgement in the eye.

But this? No, this is a common misperception about mass shootings and terrorism people like to cling to and I'm too tired to pat you on the back and try and convince you that it's not really everyone's fault.

"Why nothing gets done:

In spite of the fact that one would have to be heartless, cold and mentally ill to want these slaughters to continue" and then you typed a hair more and whittered something about how dare someone mention he's yet another white guy. Cards, you know.

I take things in context, you see. Your context was suspicious. It's suspicious because there's a popular narrative where the only people who are terrorists/commit mass shootings are 'Brown People Who Want To Take Our Freedoms!'(sic) and...the mentally ill. That's the overarching narrative several people here referenced; and if you believe typing "I didn't say he was mentally ill, just everyone who wants shooting to continue (ie, believes like he does) must be mentally ill!" is a fuckin' help in these tryin' times you're sorely mistaken. It's part of the problem of belief. And you're in it.

I'm currently assuming people blame it on mental illness to both distance themselves from the views the guys took as they were shooting dozens of people and so they simultaneously don't have to judge their own actions & beliefs (or lack thereof) that contributed to the problem.

In plain language we don't why the shooter did what he did....and that he was killed by police, it is likely we shall never know.

The shooter was a very intelligent man who would have purchased the guns, and ammunition from different stores over a period of time to allay any suspicions.

That the shooter did not fit the predictable "red flag" profile it can be assumed that his purchases did not arouse suspicions.

This is the gun the NRA was promoting the day before Las Vegas.

In an NRA-produced video, American Hunter managing editor Jon Draper is absolutely giddy about massive power of the FN SCAR 17S. Draper traveled to the test range of the manufacturer, FN, where he spoke to Jay Recto, the “assault weapons manager.” After being taken through some of the rifle’s features by Recto, a giddy Draper declares: “Literally, this is the same rifle that the military gets without the full auto happy switch. That’s fantastic!”

Wasn't he dead when the police entered the room? I read that he died by his own gun.

That he would have had to purchase these weapons (and accompanying ammo) over time as opposed to all at once suggests he had issues for a while. That those issues weren't noticed puts up numerous red flags.

Even scarier was the bill that got through House committee redefining and loosening standards for silencers and "armor-piercing bullets"... because, you know, blue lives matter and all that...

Democrats Demand GOP Pull Gun Silencer Bill After Las Vegas Mass Shooting
[Newsweek]
Democrats are urging their Republican colleagues in Congress to scrap a bill that that would make buying gun silencers easier and make it more difficult to classify ammunition as “armor piercing.

Someone got a timely reminder of what someone with an assault weapon with a silencer might be able to do before the crowd was able to realize that the people dropping dead were being shot. ](*,)

It was interesting that when the SWAT team broke into the room he was already dead. I'd like to know just how long he was dead before the shooting took place.

If you are hinting he was already dead and placed their allowing the real or multiple shooters to get away then you've never been to Vegas. Everywhere, but especially true in the Casinos there are cams everywhere. You are filmed non stop. This was true even before technology allowed for the consumer to have cams all over their car or home.

Not to mention it has been revealed that the shooter himself set up a cam in his adjoining rooms filming himself doing the shooting.

Reading this is akin to unraveling a persons digestive track and then finding that all that comes out of it is shit.
Think what you want, let your paranoia light your way and twist and misconstrue every thing that I post, have fun.

How quaint. You don't really know a lot about the NRA do you?

The shooter's state of mind was clearly not an issue for the stores selling him the guns.

We can only assume that the shooter's state of mind when purchasing the goods was normal, and did not attract any special attention.

NRA is a lobby organization for the gun manufacturers pretending to be a lobby for gun owners.

They gave $30 million to Trump last year and they spent a total of $54.4 million in the 2016 election cycle to Republicans. They ain't gonna be poor any time soon, especially as long as Americans continue to buy more guns to protect themselves from guns.

Congress ain't gonna do anything until a few of them get fired in 2018:

It's not that difficult. I wasn't, and am not, attacking you. I pointed out you're not the only person who mentioned mental illness on gun threads and that I replied to the other people who brought mental illness up as well. And then I typed why; because people like to blame mental illness as opposed to institutional and cultural belief systems that encourage white guys with guns to go out killing people because they want to be king of everyone else's castle instead of being content with a kingdom of just themself.

And I gave you the numbers as well. There's no way severe mental illness, at 5% of the usa's population commits 30-odd percent of the mass shootings worldwide.

I also mentioned that I didn't read your rape thread because I find you to be more than a hair internally and externally duplicitous on the topic; one set of rules for thee on what constitutes assault and rape....and another set for everyone with a cunt. Which was why I chose not to post (or read) in your thread; I was using it as an example of deliberately not wandering over to poke you on the differences in how you conceive of rape for yourself vs rape for other people.

See? There's an excellent example of avoiding stress for the both of us. If only because consistent correction tends to make people pissy - havta space that shit out if you intend people to mull it over.

-Granted, 'two-faced' was perhaps not the clearest description for not being internally or externally consistent with regards to gender but I have been watching an abundance of Gotham lately.
