  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

I would like to start a boycott of the Philadelphia Eagles

I have an idea since you guys are so passionate about dogfighting.

How about we rent a bus and all ride into the ghetto to educate urban youth about pets and dog training. Any takers?

Probably not, because what upsets you isn't the dogfighting, it's that a celebrity did it. Dogfighting isn't new to any of you but all of a sudden when a celebrity does it you become activists.

If he were a janitor who got caught and got his job back you wouldn't give a rat's ass.

I'll do it, just to shut you up.
If you think i fear "the hood", you must not know me very well.

You can stay behind, at 25 your focus should be on learning how to drive (eventually).

Equating his plight to a meat eaters' is fucking moronic - i didn't force the chicken that was in my chicken nuggets to fight to the death, and then fry the loser.

There are AMPLE organizations out there fighting for better treatment of livestock, why aren't they getting as much support as Vick is getting backlash?

Vick is not a hero - in my eyes, he's not worth much anyway(he may have been big in Atlanta, but that's not saying much when you don't have a ring to show for it). I believe in second chances, but i don't believe that for certain crimes, that you get to go RIGHT BACK to where you started off. And it ticks me off that a guy like Plaxico(sp?) gets suspended for a year for involuntary manslaughter, and Vick gets to go right back to playing when he showed no remorse for his crime... he did the "come to Jesus" meeting and came away from it all.

Plaxico got involuntary manslaughter? I wasn't aware that he killed anybody, I thought he shot himself in the thigh entering a NY club. The crime was carrying a weapon into a NY club. Is there a separate incident I didn't hear about?

Not that it's any of your business what i SHOULD be doing at 25, but i am currently doing just that. If you're trying to hit me "where it hurts", try making sure your shit is in order; I work - about to work two jobs - and i got feet and a bus pass. But feel free to sit there and "call" me on something.

Relax girl, relax.

I can't answer that question - why are the only ones(meaning, animal rights activists) stepping up PETA, the group that would rather have us eating vegan than pushing for better treatment of livestock at all?

PETA doesn't count, I'm not a fan of their obnoxious antics. I was referring to other organizations who aren't against meat consumption but simply desire better living (and dying) conditions for livestock.

Ooh, how embarrassing! Wrong guy - i meant Stallworth.

Oh. I ain't even heard of that one. All I can say is welcome to America, the land of double standards and contardictions. <shrugs>

Just because you're sarcastic doesn't mean you're making a point....
If we had this same passion towards our own civil liberties Prop 8 wouldn't have won.

Oh, sweetness....

Of course my sarcasm made a point, it got through to you and that at least is a step in the right direction.

In a last ditch effort of desperation you're going to drag prop 8 into this ? As if it had anything to do with the topic at hand ?

Let's break this down so even a JUBber who assumes a character from a sitcom that's been over for years can understand it....

Michael Vick hung live dogs and listened to them scream and cry until the last gasp of life was drained out of them. Micheal Vick electrocuted dogs until the smell of their frying flesh let him know that they were dead and ready to be buried in a large pit with dozens of other dogs that suffered the same unimaginable fate.

Micheal Vick starved dogs to death until you could count their ribs as well as the maggots crawling on their skin. Micheal Vick raised dogs to fight to the death until one (or both) of them bled to death while laughing and betting on the outcome.

Is this someone you would associate with ? Is this someone that deserves to emerge from prison and go back to a million dollar job while all the NFL fans pretend that nothing happened and even if it did that's OK because he has served his time ?

How much more plainly can I state this ?

People who abuse and torture animals are capable of much more than any society should tolerate.

Did he really? I hadn't heard.

Thanks for proving my point. We acknowledge that he paid for his crime, according to the law, we're just mad that he's not going to be washing cars or scraping gum off the bottom of a school desk. Sounds like a personal issue. Get over it. The law did. The NFL did. The Eagles did.

I'm not endorsing what he did, but I'm not gonna spend the rest of my life or his grinding my heels into the ground, it's not gonna bring the dogs back don'tchaknow.

People who abuse and torture animals are capable of much more than any society should tolerate.

So are people who are judgmental and incapable of forgiveness. ..|

But No, it's totally ok for this man to be kicked right back into his life like nothing ever occurred.

What a moronic statement. Like nothing ever happened? Uhh, nothing except SERVING TIME IN PRISON.

I'm still waiting on volunteers to educate urban youth about dogfighting....

>>>All you have to do is find Jesus and you're not only forgiven by him, but you're forgiven by the greedy and naiveness of NFL 'fans'.

I don't think "finding Jesus" had anything to do with it. Him being able to throw a football well had everything to do with it. And it's not like he's "back with a vengeance, y'all". He's on a new team, with a pretty big paycut (yes, still over a million, but that's still a lot less than he made with the Falcons, even before you factor in the endorsement deals), with some players who probably don't want anything to do with him (either from genuine disgust, or fear of 'guilt-by-association'), and a good number of fans who hate what he's done. It'll presumably be somewhat decent at home games, but I can't imagine what the fan reaction is going to be like at away games. Will fans hold up signs with "Dog Killer" on them? Time will tell...

I obviously meant after his prison sentence.

May I ask, were you a big advocate against dogfighting before this happened? Are you even one now that it has happened? Surely you're aware this still goes on, do you demand anyone found guilty to lose their job AFTER serving prison time or only the ones who make a certain amount?

Feel free to respond in your usual manner, dancing around or all-out avoiding answering any of these questions.

Explain to me any normal individual who served time for the same exact thing, who would get out of prison and immediately get the job back that they had prior to the situation. They wouldn't.

It's who he was before the incident that matters to the NFL, not what he did. Which bothers me.

Now continue to pick apart and misread what I said to fill your needs to say I'm wrong.

I don't know of anyone else who went to jail for dog fighting. Do you? What job did they do after they got out? Sounds like a bunch of hearsay to me.

Simple google search will suffice.

You can stop pretending to live under a rock.

When they get out of jail, let me know what job they land. Thanks for the random story that has nothing to do with what you just said. Do you think maximum sentences are always levied? If Vick served five years then went back to the NFL, would things be ok?

Have you ever had a job? Do you know the reason why they ask you if you ever served jail time and what for on an application?

So they can NOT consider it, just like the disclaimer says it WON'T count against you. Why not propose a bill that after someone has served prison time, they NOT be allowed to work anywhere at all. That sounds like a great way to prevent further crime. ..|

Tell me how many people who have committed crimes that have easily been accepted back into the workforce. People do, but they're not being handed jobs when they come out like this scumbag is.

You're asking a lot of open-ended questions. Not a good way to make a point. You're not making a point but if it tickles your tummy to pound that keyboard, by all means, pound away.

Have you ever had a job? Do you know the reason why they ask you if you ever served jail time and what for on an application? It's seriously common fucking sense, do I have to spell everything out for you to understand that?

I'd say they ask that question to get a sense of your history and if they can trust you. Depending on the job your applying for it might just be a deal-breaker.

You tell me. Why are you asking these questions that are impossible to answer? If you really want to know, why don't you conduct the endless research and field studies? You implied that he gets preferential treatment by the law, and all I asked for was an explanation.
