I survived the forward fashion world for guys from the late 60's through the 90's
I've had bell-bottoms, bigger bell-bottoms, platform boots, nehru collars, paisley, wide stripes, psychedelic shirts, disco suits, pencil thin ties and pants, wide collars, pastel shirts, Crayons....need one continue?
Sometime I realized along the way, that I needed only the classics in my wardrobe. Made well, but classically styled so that the clothes would look as good a year later or five years later as it did when I bought it.
I was exhausted throwing away last season's look and wasting clothing....only to look like a fashion victim.
But it seems as though Walmartization of fashion now means t-shirts with stupid graphics and cheap pants and socks.
Shoes are a disaster; I haven't seen a beautiful new pair of shoes or sandals for a decade; fortunately I still have some great classic shoes to wear still.
I say, go after the fashionistas and tell them you want cool clothes. Make your own by modifying stuff and wearing to clubs. Make a new statement.
It is how fashion moves the world.
