Video Is Canada really falling apart?

Danielle Smith should just move to the US. We're not having her shit.

Thank God this is the person going. Trudeau played his cards wrong. Polievre would have been looking how to cut
himself in for a piece of the action.

Carney is going to be the smartest person in the room and will not fold.

Typically, the conservatives are choosing the worst strategy.

Instead of using the opportunity to bring in a new leader, they are instead giving Polievre a safe seat.

Years ago, the provincial Tories tried to do this for their new leader and instead, they lost this very safe seat because voters hated parachuted candidates.

This time though, looks like Polievre will not have to move out of Stornoway.

We’ll see what happens man. They’re running him in Alberta which they are hoping is safe for him to jist slide in. It’ll be a testament of Alberta which way they go. If he’s elected,

He is golden in Albertastan.

He'll probably get 110% of the vote.

In a rather interesting and rare move, Canada is hosting the King later this month when Charles III will deliver Canada’s speech from the throne as our titular head of state.

This is a direct rebuke to Trump's calls for the US to take over Canada in order to steal our natural resources for his oligarch pals.

One assumes that the speech, written by Canada's Liberal government will emphasize the integrity of our territorial sovereignty and increased strenghtening of ties between Canada and Great Britain in trade
and commerce as we look across the Atlantic and less to the US.

We understand that Australians were watching the Canadian election closely.

So let's see.

Carney doesn't have to kowtow to Trump. He is a lot more experienced in finance thasn Trump and won't rise to the bait of baiting.

I still don't agree with Canada's PM being made to dance attendance in Washington. But at some point, Canadains have to hear the unvarnished invective from Trump about stealing our country and if Trump and his couch fuck boy behave to form, Canadians will relaize that the US is literally an existential enemy.

So let's see if Carney can demonstrate that:

1. The US doesn't provide Canada with free defense.

2. A trade deficit caused by energy pricing is not a subsidy to Canada.

I am not hopeful and I have little doubt that Trump will try to terrorize and belittle Carney ...although I hope that Carney has been smart enough to insist that he won't do an Oval Office theatre
presentation like Trump has made other leaders do.

So Carney said right out that Canada, like some other real estate, is simply not for sale.

Trump looked uncomfortable and sounded utterly assanine as he tried to explain that the map would just look better without that arbitray straight line that someone drew (acutally the 49th parallel) amnd that he was artistic and just thinks it would look better.

I guess like all the other stright lines that define states in the US?

meanwhile:

Mark Carney’s Message:
Trump’s trade war backfired. Carney called out Trump directly: “He’s trying to weaken our economy. We can’t let him succeed—and we won’t.” Instead of folding, Canada’s building up: cutting internal trade barriers, uniting the country economically, and pivoting away from U.S. dependence.

From US/Canada Policis on FB:

The National Corridor:
Carney’s “super-corridor” is a bold coast-to-coast-to-Arctic infrastructure vision: roads, rail, energy, and digital lines all in one. It’s a nation-building project to unlock growth, create independence, and open Arctic access.

-$200M for Indigenous-led LNG in BC

-$175M to reopen the rail line to Churchill (our Arctic port)

Internal trade barriers being slashed—potential 4–8% GDP growth

Arctic Power Move:
Canada’s asserting full control over the Northwest Passage and Arctic resources. With ice melting and routes opening, we’re investing in northern ports, patrol ships, and military defense. No more relying on America to defend our territory.

New Allies, New Markets:

Trump pushed (Canada) to diversify. Carney’s leading a shift toward Europe, Asia, and Latin America. Canada and the EU are strengthening economic and defense ties. Billions are being invested to help exporters access global markets. We're buying European gear, hosting NATO allies in the Arctic, and asserting sovereignty without U.S. permission.

I haven't watched the scrum in the oval junk shop yet, but everything that I've seen indicates that the Oxford PhD was as patient and respectful to a dementia addled nutcase as he needed to be.

After the 'interview':

Reporter: I was watching your face during the meeting.. what was going through your mind when the President talked about erasing the border..

Carney: I’m glad that you couldn’t tell what was going through my mind

Reporter: Oh I could

:rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao:

Once again...is it intentional?

Or does Trump actually know so little about trade and the nature of our integrated economies that he spouts this stuff because it is what he 'feels' is true?
