It is so quick and easy to make like instant coffee.

Ingredients:
Maltodextrin (from Maize contains sulphites), thickener (1422) from maize, beverage whitener, vegetable fat, glucose syrup solids(from tapioca), milk protein, emulsifiers (471, 472c) from soy, mineral salts (330, 450) anticaking agent (551), antioxidant (306), potato starch, dextrose from maize, yeast extracts, natural flavours, dehydrated chicken meat (2%), Onion powder (2%), vegetable gum (412), chicken fat (0.3%), Turmeric, parsley, chives.

I have no idea what those ingredients are !!!

There's codecheck.info that explains if the ingredients are healthy or not, but it's in German.

I have no idea what those ingredients are !!!

1.Maltodextrin is a polysaccharide that is used as a food additive. It is produced from starch by partial hydrolysis and is usually found as a creamy-white hygroscopic spraydried powder.

It isn't promising when this is the main ingredient.

2. thickener (1422) from maize, is corn starch

3, beverage whitener is just non-dairy powdered paint.

Experiments have been conducted to see if powdered coffee creamer would ignite in midair, and people have found that large quantities make beautiful, and pleasant-smelling, fireballs. The amateur film scene has jumped on this opportunity to create Hollywood-style explosions on a low budget. All one needs is non-dairy creamer, an ignition source such as a burning coal or a road flare, and such a way to propel the creamer as compressed air or a bicycle pump. One of the key advantages in using coffee creamer is that it only burns in midair; as soon as the creamer touches the ground, it goes out, making energy derived from coffee creamer a much safer alternative to using gasoline.[3]
Coffee creamer has also been used to whiten clothes (after mixing it with water to form a soaking solution), defoam fish tanks, clean dry erase boards as well as fake snow in television and movies.[1]

4. Vegetable fat is the lard extracted from vegetables through liposuction.

5. glucose syrup solids(from tapioca More sugar

6, milk protein is a dehydrated dairy derivative ie fake milk.

7. emulsifiers (471, 472c) from soy is another emulsifier and thickener

8 mineral salts (330, 450) mmmmmmmmmmmm. more salt.

OK kids we're about midway through and have yet to find out what flavour this is.

9 anticaking agent is used to keep the product from forming lumps

10. antioxidant (306) is Tocopherol concentrate, which is found in many vegetable oils, including soy, wheat germ, rice germ, cottonseed, maize. Works as an antioxidant for fatty acids and tissue fats, preventing vitamin A from oxidation.

11. potato starch mmmmmmmmm more thickeners

12. Dextrose from Maize more maltodextrin

13. yeast extracts is a natural-sounding additive that food companies use as a flavor enhancer replacement for MSG. It contains free glutamate, and for many people, it has the same effect as MSG -- migraine headaches, chemical taste enhancement and possible harm to the nervous system.

In short msg by another name.

14. natural flavours is: “the essential oil, oleoresin, essence or extractive, protein hydrolysate, distillate, or any product of roasting, heating or enzymolysis, which contains the flavoring constituents derived from a spice, fruit or fruit juice, vegetable or vegetable juice, edible yeast, herb, bark, bud, root, leaf or similar plant material, meat, seafood, poultry, eggs, dairy products, or fermentation products thereof, whose significant function in food is flavoring rather than nutritional” http://www.supermarketguru.com/index.cfm/go/sg.viewArticle/articleId/1208

15. dehydrated chicken meat (2%) Finally... we know what flavour this thickener, salt and sugar mix is supposed to be. Wow, 2%. How generous.

Cardboard can also be substituted for the dehydrated flavourless chicken bits with no appreciable difference in taste.

16. Onion powder (2%) is made from finely ground, dehydrated onions, mainly the pungent varieties of bulb onions.

So kind of an oniony, chickeny flavour we're going for here?

17. vegetable gum (412) is a polysaccharides of natural origin, capable of causing a large viscosity increase in solution, even at small concentrations.

mmmm mmmm more thickeners please.

Now for actual ingredients.

18. chicken fat (0.3%) Really people? I mean....really?

19. Turmeric is a deep orange-yellow powder commonly used as a spice in curries and other South Asian and Middle Eastern cuisine, for dyeing, and to impart color to mustard condiments. Its active ingredient is curcumin and it has a distinctly earthy, slightly bitter, slightly hot peppery flavor and a mustardy smell.

20. parsley along with sage, rosemary and thyme is an essential ingredient in Simon and Garfunkel music

21. Chives are the smallest species of the edible onions.

So there you have it. Because of ingredient 13.....this dehydrated paint product must be declared unsafe for people with mood disorders, pregnant women, pets, children and all other bi-peds.

Unless noted, thanks to wikipedia for all the info above.

Enjoy your beverage.

Don't use the stuff and thanks to rareboy I now have good reason.

Stumble: I do use Lipton Onion Soup Mix and occasionally Hidden Valley Ranch for dips. But they're reputable companies that wouldn't put that stuff in there if it was harmful. Right?

I myself have knowingly and purposefully taken a packet of Lipton's [STRIKE]MSG[/STRIKE] onion soup mix and have used it as a beverage and/or base for a quick dish.

This requires one to have an evening and the day after free so that the Mr. Hyde border personality disorder as a result of unregulated insulin can play out without the usual need for restraint.

Oh dear. Thanks rareboy.
I won't buy it anymore. I thought it is ok to eat.

Why is this legal to sell in the supermarkets then.

I tell people it's caused by my PTSD and the on-going recovery from ataxia secondary to medical errors.

Companies will argue there's no tangible ill effect to eat that stuff and it keeps the prices down anyway, plus they make sure govs don't ban those ingredients.

On the other hand, it's also your responsibility as a consumer to educate yourself and not buy this crap. The sad thing is, for many with little means, this cheap stuff is all they can afford and do not necessarily know how to make their own.

I dis-agree.
Consumer don't have time or talent to educate themselves what those ingredients mean. If Rareboy didn't post, i would have continue eating the soup without knowing what they are.

I thought it is like a normal soup, the only difference is they are dried soup but it is not.

As they say, everything in moderation. A cuppa soup isn't going to kill you, but two a day for a lifetime will have not so great results.

Seeing as it has an anti-caking agent, I assume it is not homebrand powdered soup, but also saying that it has really limited ingredients, so it COULD be homebrand. Homebrand really does clump like heck.

I usually keep a few cuppa soups on hand with some toast when I am buggered after work at 1am, that or leftovers.

^ The trick is to add only a little bit of water at the beginning, make a paste and then add a little more water to thin....then you can add the rest of the water and get the wallpaper ready to put up on the walls.

This is why Google is our friend.

It allows us to look up ingredients for nuclear devices or what we are putting into our bodies.

From my experience, average people won't bother to use google.
That is why i saw so many unhealthy people in the supermarkets and shopping centers.

As confirmed by the Mythbusters crew:

And remember kids.

If it is made in a plant it isn't good for you.

If It is made from a plant, eat up.

its only helthy if you mix it with sour cream and dip potato chips in it..this way you get a veggie and a dairy in one shot

Thanks to rareboy again and others, i learn something from this thread. :)
