Is Elon Musk in Trouble?

Boy.... talk about two grotesque horrible men who deserve one another.

So Musk is allowing the Wagner Group, a designated terrorist organization, to recruit on Twitter.

Seems about right.

Except we've known this for years...but people keep working there and keep buying his product.

TESLA needs to be fucking unionized and Musk thrown off the board (two things that won't happen) to clean the mess up.

But then the stock price and profit margins would plummet. And we know that the organizational shareholders would fight that.

NPR quitting Twitter. I'd like to see other news organizations do the same.

NPR quits Twitter after being falsely labeled as 'state-affiliated media' [NPR]

NPR will no longer post fresh content to its 52 official Twitter feeds, becoming the first major news organization to go silent on the social media platform. In explaining its decision, NPR cited Twitter's decision to first label the network "state-affiliated media," the same term it uses for propaganda outlets in Russia, China and other autocratic countries.

So long...Twitler.

Watch for the BBC to follow suit.

So Musk needs BBC...well, well, well.

I couldn't help thinking that he made nice with them just because they gave him attention (meaning a high-profile interview). If Musk had to choose between money and attention, I think he'd choose attention.

Of course, he'll change his mind about labeling the BBC the minute the whim strikes him.

That seems to be why NPR pulled the plug entirely -- the CEO of NPR said he no longer had any faith in the decision-making process at Twitter.

An exchange between commenters at New York mag that I though was worth passing along.

Commenter A: Will Twitter even be around in 2024 at this pace?

Commenter B: I hope it is. Would be a shame if Musk no longer had a platform to run Tesla into the ground...

The problem is, Musk’s plan doesn’t seem to be working as well as he’s saying. Twitter’s web traffic dropped by nearly 8 percent last month compared to the year before, and has been dropping for the past three months year over year, according to new estimates from data intelligence firm SimilarWeb. This directly contradicts Musk’s claims that usage is up. In terms of Twitter’s main line of income, advertising, outside data also conflicts with Musk’s claims that all is well. Multiple reports over the past few months have shown that top brands are continuing to leave the platform since Musk took over.

Of course, as Musk continues to degrade Twitter's monetary value with his antics...eventually it will be the shareholders of other X enterprises that will have to absorb and conceal the loss on the books...even in the year that I have been around Twitter, it really is lagging. A lot of formerly prolific posters are down to about 50% and a lot are gone as Musk keeps trying to monetize hate speech.

Social Media platforms appear to have a life cycle anyway. Elon just shot his in the head early.

The cracks are showing.....Musk trying to regain some business.

Musk claimed in an interview with BBC last week that most of Twitter's advertisers have returned, but analysts suggest Twitter's ad revenue is rapidly declining.

  • Asked during the BBC interview to name an example of a single advertiser that left Twitter and returned, Musk could not provide one.

I guess he is entitled to lie his pants off. But it isn't going to get him back his advertisers...or credibility. He has tried this a couple of times now and just keeps fucking it up.

True that.

I see where the Alien that owns Meta is about to lay off more earthlings tomorrow as Facebook becomes less and less relevant to just about everyone now.

Elon Musk is threatening to take legal action against Microsoft over claims that the company “trained illegally using Twitter data.” The billionaire’s statement came in response to a tweet noting that Microsoft’s advertising platform announced it would stop supporting Twitter, reportedly due to Twitter’s changes requiring payment to access its API...

Guess which toddler man is having a tantrum?

Good luck suing Microsoft there Elon....
