There are no unsafe cars on sale today, they all have to meet rigidly enforced standards. We've come a long way from "Unsafe At Any Speed"
But there plenty of unsafe drivers. A big problem with Teslas is that they combine very high mass with very high torque, turning an everyday car into a lethal battering ram when driven badly. This means that a crash that would cause minor injury with most domestic cars becomes a fatal crash just because of that combination of excessive power with excessive weight.
Much as we all despise Musky for his many strands of vileness, he is not to blame, cars dont cause accidents, drivers do.

I think that there are already a number of cases where the Tesla has caused the accident.

And while you could have made the same case about the Corvair back in the 60's, it isn't about the crash, it is about the higher rate of deaths resulting from the crash.
That is the point being made here.
 
The Corvair was a truly dreadful car even with the best of drivers.
Imagine (its hard but try) if Teslas were without flaws, safer than Volvos and not even ugly.
I still would not want one and I dont expect that you would want one, for the brand has aquired a nerve gas toxicity not because of the actual cars (the truck excepted) themselves but because of one man.
