EIGHT bullets slammed into Yehya Amood as he sat in the passenger seat of the luxury Mercedes with the numberplate BFL - Brothers For Life. One bullet hit his heart.

It was a killing too far. Police believe the murder of 27-year-old Amood in broad daylight a year ago escalated a turf war between the members of the notorious gang and ultimately led to the police raids that saw the leaders arrested this week.

Sitting next to Amood as he bled to death in the Mercedes was Bassam Hijazi, 33. He was nursing bullet wounds to both legs and a bitter thirst for revenge.

Brothers For Life began life as a loose association of members from the Bankstown-Greenacre area in Sydney's southwest, drawn from gangs including the Assyrian Kings, Dlasthr - "The Last Hour" - and the Muslim Brotherhood under the leadership of convicted murderer Bassam Hamzy.

Despite being locked up in Lithgow jail, over just a few weeks Hamzy still managed to make 19,523 calls from a mobile phone hidden in his cell to run the gang's sophisticated drug supply network. The boys outside were his muscle.

In one call he told a man being held over a $12,000 debt: "I'm about to cut your ears off. I told you I'm going to compensate myself … the minute I give him the go-ahead he's gonna cut your ears off, do you know that?"

Bassam Hamzy was given an extra 15 years on his sentence, moved to the Supermax jail at Goulburn and, eventually, silenced. That created a power vacuum that his lieutenants in the Bankstown and Blacktown chapters decided to seize at the point of a gun.

Unlike bikie gangs which have strict membership controlled by a sergeant at arms, membership to Brothers For Life came at the cost of a $70 T-shirt emblazoned with the distinctive logo of crossed AK47s. Young punks looking for glory were parading around as gang members and attracting plenty of the wrong kind of attention. They were being charged over extortion, drug-smuggling and unprovoked fights. They feared no one.

This thread has ceased to be a forum for any reasonable discussion. It has devolved into a naked attempt on your part to incite and inflame fear and hatred for an entire religion through cataloguing the random crimes of a miniscule percentage of the population and painting them as the norms for every adherent of Islam. It is no different than the puerile crap that you will read on Stormfront from people who hate Jews or the ignorant and vile slanders about blacks.

We all get it. You are one of JUB's most strident resident racists and you are fearless about flying your flag and singing your anthem of white Christian supremacy.

There is much to be abhored about fundamentalist Islam in the same way as there is much to abhor about fundamentalist Christianity. A street gang shooting one another to get control of organized crime does not illuminate this discussion at all. It is entirely off-topic.

It is clear that the topic has exhausted itself and that the thread should die a natural death. If you can't resist the temptation to fling shit or smearing it all over everyone by posting these stupid and irrelevant sensationalist stories...then it probably is about time that the lock gets thrown on the thread.
