  • Hi Guest - Did you know?

James Marsden is 37. Is This Considered "Over the Hill"?

I have a friend who says he'll kill himself when he reaches 30. He says there's no point in living past then. I'll see if his story changes when he's 29.

I think age is all relative to how a person feels. I don't feel any different than I did at 25 and most people are surprised to hear I'm 40.

Another way to look at it - at every stage of my life, I have known me older than me who looked better, had more sex, and accomplished more in the community.

That should have been "known MEN older than men"... that's what I get for posting before having coffee.

Sexy is sexy no matter what age you are. Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Gerrard Butler, Johnny Depp, Matthew Morrison & Jon Hamm all fall into the older category and I wouldn't kick any of them out of bed.

I don't really think 21 is over the hill, I was only joking. However, getting older hasn't really changed my perception of aging. I still hate getting older, and thinking about it is depressing. At 49 I still think I'm over the hill, old and worn out.

Yes, the years do go faster with age, and it's both frightening, and sickening.

Nobody wanted me when I was young, so I doubt I have any chance now.

LOL! People have to know that you won't stay 18 forever. It's all about managing your lifestyle and image. I'd say as long as the guy is looking good for his age, why bothers his actual age.

And James Marsden is freaking gorgeous!! Love him to bits (esp. after "Enchanted". I want him to be my Prince Charming). And Anderson Cooper who is very well over the 40s but he is still my ideal guy!!

I see how it is. You don't want to invite me, I wont come for you. :p

I'll say you lie about your age. Especially considering this is the picture on your drivers licence

Yup. I've still got it. :sex:

People that think that 30 and 40 is old are the ones who are going to be so depressed when they get older, meanwhile 30 and 40 is only the 1/2 way point and you still have the rest of your life to live.

Technically over the hill refers to passing the mid-point in your life expectancy. Currently that mid-point is considered to be the nice rounded 40. The first half of your life is the uphill climb. You study hard and work hard and supposedly, once you reach the midway point, the peak, you can start to relax and coast down the other side. It originally wasn't meant as a negative, just that life was supposed to get easier because it was all downhill from there. Sadly, those who discriminate based on age have corrupted the whole thing.

Its akin to the old question: How far can one walk into a forest? Halfway, after that you're walking out.

It'd be really nice if it worked that way. Life doesn't get easier with age, it gets more difficult.

Life doesn't get easier with technology, it gets more difficult.

There, fixed it. It isn't aging that makes life more difficult. It all the technology. The more the re is the more most people want. It used to be you worked hard and could save along the way and were able to relax and enjoy life. But then all the advancements in technology happened, and they were supposed to make life easier, but the people that "need" them can't afford them and have to work harder just to get them. And even then they end up charging too much and have to spend the last half of their lives just paying for it. If they weren't so busy accepting the BS that they need to buy a new car every few years, or a more advanced computer with all the bells and whistles (85% of which they never use, but still pay for), they'd have a chance of putting a little more money away.

Sometimes I wonder if dying young isn't better than suffering through old age. Opinions on this will vary.

Good point, but that's really not what I meant. Who ever said "life begins at 40", must have not lived beyond 25. I'm no more content at 49, than I was at 18. I still feel basically the same mentally. I just know that time is running out, and I'm more likely, with every passing day, to die lonely, and sad, without ever having loved anyone. That thought is what bothers me most. Old age sucks for me. I just hope I die quickly when the time comes.
