She is changing producers apparently. She is no longer working with Jermaine Dupri; she is working with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis again. Hopefully, the change will help improve her career.

Her tribute this Sunday will bring her back, I'm sure. Her next album will hopefully be unlike her last albums (because they're all starting to sound the same) and Janet will hopefully be inspired by music again.

I really liked Janet's last album Feedback. I'm not sure why it didn't catch on. We brought Whitney back, hopefully Janet can do the same!

Jimmy & Terry....always good!..didn't really like Jermaine much as her producer..hopefully there's a few more producers added :)..

^^I am not shocked. The album was good, but so out of touch with the times. The album does have the pop culture feel that Umbrella, Poker Face, I Kissed a Girl, or Bleeding Love gave. It doesn't match the R&B catch of We Belong Together, Knock You Down, or Take a Bow. If this were 1995, Discipine would have been a smash. Feedback was modern, which is why I believe it to be the only song people know from Discipline. Janet needs a little update. I cannot believe that Janet today is the same woman who made Rhythm Nation...

janet needs a total makeover musicly and stylisticly

She is 40 sumthin not 22 @ after watching years of her dancing & lipping the routine gets old

She needs to rehash her style and come into more age appropriate performances & songs

^^ That is NOT true. Janet has always been age appropriate. Don't be scared of a 43 year old woman who is multi talented and not afraid of her sexuality!

I think that her problem is trying to conform to what is currently "in" with music. I was listening to some of her older stuff and most of the stuff couldn't fit into one genre of music, now everything she does can fit into the pop and R&B categories. I also think that she should try and put some more effort in singing.

I live in the UK where Janet has never really been that big... But I absoultely loved Feedback. I thought it was a brilliant song.
But unfortunatley it's the only one of hers I've ever liked...I liked her Scream duet with MJ but that's not really her song.

^^ Well Janet has had success all over the world...she has a string of top 10s in UK, but never had a #1. But she was very popular in Europe during the "janet." and "The Velvet Rope" albums.

Just because she sung in soft voice and sung about sex with "Damita Jo", "20 Y.O.", and "Discipline" isn't an indicator of her being inappropriate for her age. Women's sex drive peaks well into their late 40s. There's nothing wrong with her exploring it and being proud of it.

She has many different levels to her sound and different layers of her songwriting. You shouldn't expect a "Control" or "Rhythm Nation" every time. Expectations will let you down. Just enjoy the music for what it is and interpret it how you want, but it is what it is.

I honestly don't see the cause for concern. She's still doing her thing. Most artists and entertainers are in a worse position than she is.

But please, tell me what a 43 year old woman should be singing about? And tell me why Janet can't do what she wants to do? We all have opinions. But even if she listened to what you're saying, doesn't mean more people will buy her records. Girlfriend has outsold so many and is the 6th most successful artist of the Billboard/Soundscan era.

I'm just disappointed that her part was so short (IMO). I was expecting her to be in MJ's role for the entire tribute. Didn't think she was doing Scream.

It was great though. Once the beat for Scream, everyone in the building was jamming. Did you see Beyonce waving her hands in the air?

^^ Who said she wanted to "regain" her status? There's more to music than being on top. Janet would stop doing music if all she wanted to do was be #1. Janet LOVES MUSIC...not the fame or attention.

When she doesn't have a product to promote, we don't see her. She clearly has other things on her agenda than to try and duplicate the success of her past. People need to stop looking in the past and focus on what someone is able to do now! No need to compare.

Plus, the music industry is suffering anyways.

The main difference between Janet and Michael is that Michael led the producers, but Janet's producers lead her...

That's not to say that she's not talented, but starting with Control back in the 80's, she was a molded artist, her 'vision' came from Jimmy Jam, et al, not her own creation.
