Jean Grey- The Phoenix

Scott's beams can actually destroy Logan's skeletal structure. But then again, Logan can keep regenerating himself until Scott passes out. They really should do an in-depth fight without the same old interruptions.

Well...if we want to use Ultimate X-Men...Scott kind of wasted Logan. I mean, Logan lived, but Scott still messed him up almost effortlessly.

Plus, if Scott can blow that Sentinel out of the water like he did in Astonishing, I think Logan would be dead after just a few of those.

I thinkw hat they're going for is that Scott will become so controlled that his power will come from elsewhere than his eyes. He'll have total emitting control. It's been hinted int he 14th issue of Astonishing ("I wonder if I just let go of control...would it just come from my eyes?") I think that would make him incredibly powerful and I think it designates him as the destroyer of worlds.

At least his character is evolving. Since the begining of X-Men he has always seemed to play the same character so I for one am glad to see a change.

No, Logan cannot regrow his skeleton. Check out Age of Apocalypse for this. So if ever Scott decides to do a heel turn and fight dirty, he'll just take of his visors to make sure he hits Logan, and then do a penetrating beam to tear that overexposed Canadian's head off.

At any rate, I'm glad that Joss is focusing on every team member for his run, and not just how cool Logan is.

Yeah. I'd really like to see mroe on characters other than super-powerful Phoenix Jean and ultra-cool Logan.

Like give me more serious storylines about the other awesome characters that aren't their own title spinoffs (which don't seem to do so hot). Just let them be more prominent in standard plotlines.

Is there anyway to get the Gen X comics? They all seem to be out of print.

And I can't get my hands on a copy of the collection (Vol. 2) of New X-Men.

If you're looking for trades then maybe you can look online, or swap with someone who is sick of his copy.

P.S. Check out the Maevel solicitations for September, there's some interesting teasers about what could happen to Scottie.

Luminum, I'd recommend either eBay or that you wait for the TPBs to come out. Considering how they just started with the old Excalibur, GenX (complete with Phalanx Covenant separate) may be on the agenda soon. Try www.milehighcomics.com, too, as they tend to have a lot of sales.

Okay... this has me rather worried.... (Astonishing #17 cover)

Something scary enough to make Logan look like that can't be good.

A lot of stuff scares Logan. Like shaving. Apparently, the one that freaks him out here is the mysterious "destroyer of worlds".

you know wot:

this thread sucks!! bunch of losers talking about "phoenix". seriously, who cares!! interpret it as you like, ultimately, you're still stuck with the same thoughts as you had before you started this thread.!!! weirdo's!!!

Yay! Trolls are awesome! Even when they can be melted down and their shiny jewels stolen.

Ah, I'm not to keen on Wonder Man's powers, but I'm pretty sure it could make him more like his brother Vulcan, only instead of energy manipulation, he can pretty much just make anything blow up.

That would be hot.

Destroyer of Worlds...

You know, Wolverine hasn't been scared about something for a good damn long time. he needs to get every square inch of his ass kicked soon. It' snot that he's arrogant, but he just needs to be a person and not a god again.

Read Astonishing X-Men now.

My guess is that Scott will have full and total control of his kinetic blasts and they won't just come from his eyes. If that's the case, he'll be incredibly powerful and have unlimited energy (since it's from another dimension) and is probably the Astonishing Destroyer of Worlds.

Does that mean the Phoenix is comign back? Destroyer of Worlds, or is Galactus making some sort of come back....?

Maybe I'll go over to my local indigo and read astonoshing there...snickers, and then I won't have to buy the damned things!

Hmm, so many destroyers of worlds: Phoenix, Galactus. Sounds like it could be a fun read. And yes, I agree that Wolverine needs his ass kicked soon. The last time I actually recall him getting really hurt was when Magneto pulled out his adamantium.

As long as the destroyer of worlds isn't Vulcan, then I'm game. I'm so sick of villains becoming overpowered.

Anyway, like I said, those who wants to see Logan get the worst beatdown of his life EVER should read Astonishing now.

And is it just me, or did Joss hint that Hisako could be a major player in the arcs to come?

I think he wants her to. He has a habit of reintroducing the most looked-over characters and making them important down the road, so if he's paying so much attention to Hisako, it must mean something.

I'm really glad Joss is doing the series. I've found it to be brilliant and better (gasp!) than some of Chris Claremont's material (please note that CC is my favorite X-Men writer). Marvel made the right decision to bring Joss in.
