Yeah, I'm empty too. All I can recall is her crass jokes at others' expense. Just glad her foul mouth is finally shut for a bit.

That's how she deals with pain, like my comment was a joke, she wants people to not take life so seriously. I do hope she'll be alright, she's done so much good for so many people in her lifetime and she's a legend.

I don't love her, but I don't hate her. Sometimes her jokes just aren't funny, the interesting thing is I've been watching her youtube show lately before this news came out.

Don't they say celebrities usually die in 3s? Robin Williams just died. :/

One of very few celebrities I care about. No one's funnier imo. Hitchens died before I could meet him, this can't happen with Joan :cry:

The only problem with that is, when do you start counting? Was Robin number 2? Number 1? Or number 3? Lauren Bacall and Richard Attenborough have died since Robin. There is no beginning and there is no end.

As for Joan, I used to find her jokes funny, but, over the past few decades, her jokes became less funny and more cruel and insulting. I haven't watched her in years.

Still, it doesn't take away from the fact that she has many, many fans, and they and her family are all wishing her only the best.

I hope Joan feels all this energy and gets well soon. She's one I don't think I saw on the guess the celebrity deaths thread that is so popular around here near the new year.

Any significant coincidence today that one of the greatest living gay icons almost dies and it's announced Brad & Angelina have married who said they wouldn't until gay marriage was allowed in all US states?

I like that she did the home meal thing for AIDS patients in New York so I overlook/accept a lot of the other stuff she did. I used to love her until the day she got mad at everyone for making fun of Nancy Reagan and gave the audience a "heartfelt" speech on why Nancy was above reproach (BARF)...Joan had her nose so far up Nancy's ass it was sickening.....

I lost respect for her humor at that moment but I do respect her humanitarian endeavors and I hope she gets well soon.

She was warned about the risks, and her daughter staged an intervention (whether it was real or not), and the plastic surgeons doing it have no ethics, no scruples about the health of their patients.

She is one of a kind legend. And she has done more for LGBT causes than some famous gay celebs. She made possible for millions of dollars to be collected for AIDS related causes. And she is well known for working with God's Love We Deliver an org that delivers free meals to sick people (many HIV/AIDS) patients. The org started out in a basement kitchen to support dying gay men with HIV when healthcare services wouldn't want them in their facilities.

I've heard some positive things and some negative--I guess the issue will be if the oxygen cut off did any damage--if she lives the jokes about all this will fly and go on until she really does die.

She's been someone I've grown up with... talk show appearances, game shows, "Can we talk?" Hopeful for a full recovery for Joan and send thoughts, prayers, good energies.. whatever can help. She has been controversial but has also flat out been one of the best female comics/ comic writers ever.

I watched an episode of "In bed with Joan Rivers" the other day with Bianca Del Rio. Bianca ran rings around her. It was the first time I realised how old she was getting.
