Josh '19 Kids and Counting' Duggar a child molester?

^ That Weather Channel thing has yet to happen here in Canada. They show weather-related videos, sure, but nothing like movies or reality shows. They do, however, tape segments such as reports and forecasts and repeat them, especially when there is only one reporter on the air for hours at a time.

That's actually all The Weather Channel (the US edition) was EVER supposed to be about. It honestly didn't matter whether it was day, night, middle of the night, weekend, or a holiday - you could turn on The Weather Channel and get an updated weather report. That's it - that's the only reason Weather Channel was even started - it was supposed to be, basically a 24hr "Headline News"-style channel for weather. That's it. Period. Weather Channel Canada, I believed, learned from its US counterpart's mistakes. Weather Channel (US) has even gotten delisted from some of the biggest cable and satellite carriers here in the states, because it strayed away from its original mission, and instead, went to this trashy reality programming time-filler bullshit, same as TLC, A&E, and other cable stations.
 
^ We get localised and up-to-date forecasts every 10 minutes here, including radar over that past 6 hours. If there's threatening weather in the region, we get 'Storm Watch', which is basically all they do while the threat exists. And they usually have 'live' reporters right where the weather is happening.

Yeah, that, and the "Headline News"-style format for national and regional weather forecasting was all Weather Channel (US) was ever supposed to be about.

Back to the original topic, though - don't look now, but the media industry online newspaper website Mediaite, along with multiple other sources, are reporting that TLC may actually - through a kind of back-door method - double-down on supporting the Duggars... There is reportedly a "19 Kids" spinoff apparently in the works!!

So, even if they ultimately cancel "19 Kids", if TLC goes ahead with launching this supposed spinoff, TLC pretty much has the Duggars' back, anyway. TLC's basically saying, "To hell with the people Josh Duggar hurt. As long as the Duggars keep bringing us ratings and ad revenue, it's pretty much, whatever..."

When and where is the next spaceship for Mars due to leave? I don't think I wanna be on this planet, anymore. Wow. Just wow...

They have literally thrived off their celebrity and "achievement" of popping out kids like Jiffy Pop for well over a decade. You think they were going to give up that gravy train willingly?

Most of the responses I've seen to this is "thank God - get that program off the air". I haven't seen much compassion - or any thought, really - about the victims of the sexual abuse. I was actually going to comment early on in the thread that the only comments I had seen were ones of sympathy that Josh didn't get real/proper help that he probably needed, and I saw almost no mention of the girls. But I just zipped and figured it was JUB's usual penile-centric view of reality.

The sad part is that, after this scandal, all of the people who should boycott it would want it to come back. Fortunately, the sponsors are the real mouthpieces of the network and they are, apparently, already pulling their sponsorship. The sadder part is that it is programmes like this one that make the sponsors rich.

It's the sponsors who have to boycott TLC, not the viewers.

They'll either ignore the controversy, or they'll 'teach' (i.e. lecture) us on how what their brother did to them was OK, since, after all, they are all just one big happy perfect Christian family, superior in morals and judgement, etc. etc. etc. etc. Just another excuse for more fundamentalist propaganda.

rareboy had been referring to the hope of the girls being empowered and liberated and breaking free due to repulsion and disgust at their treatment. Instead, they repeat the cycle. It is all they know. It is just very sad.

If I asked anyone (except, apparently, you) which was worse - self-proclaimed generic piety preached on a corner by Joe-Next-Door (or in this case, JUB) or covering up the molestation/rape of a child (among other things involving protecting said molester), you're the only one who has said "They're equal!". When you said self-righteous, you forgot to add hypocritical to your statement on the Duggars. Hypocritical, in this case, means a hell of a lot since it involves - wait for it - molestation.

And what the fuck kind of person would call finger wagging, let alone actual criticism of molestation self righteous?

Why did you do that? Just dying to know.

Yeah....there's multiple reasons why I avoided this thread. Yes, the guy needed and needs help but my sympathy for that particular ass refusing help because Stigma is secondary to the harm he caused and continues to cause, since he hasn't gotten help (not only is he old enough to do so, he's perfectly sane and is aware of right from wrong regardless of sexual proclivities) and if nothing else, mentally his and everyone's refusal of Something is Wrong - that'll kill his victims with "See, nothings' really wrong...life was juuuuust fiiiiiiiine."
 
Heard of him, or the family. I can't remember the last time I watched anything on TLC (or A&E for that matter).

By the way, I Googled them. Their website is offline now. Gone. To borrow from Monty Python. It is no more. It is an ex-website.
