In keeping with the original thread purpose, why in the fuck can't I buy a turkey at this time of year - even a frozen one? I used to be able to find them fairly routinely. That is actually one of the most efficient things that I can possibly cook for myself, because one part-of-the-day in the oven gives me leftovers for TONS of future meals.
Sure, I CAN go to Aldi and get a [STRIKE]Butterball[/STRIKE] ChemicalBall one, but why? Those simply suck, entirely...
I can also get frozen SMOKED turkey, but that is not what I'm looking for.

I work at a Native American casino (one of three), and recently I was offered a promotion to general manager per the move of one to a larger, new one. After careful contemplation, I respectfully declined. Tribal Council elections are held every two years, and like councilmen, G.M.s come and go. If it were just me, I'd have jumped all over that opportunity, but I am raising a near 4 y.o. great nephew that I've I've had custody of for 3.5 years. I thought I had job security, because I am high enough in the managerial hierarchy to fly just under the radar (and get paid a ridiculous amount of money).
Well, I went to work last Thursday, I work every other Thursday night (11pm-7am) in addition to my usual 7pm-7am weekend nights to an ambush. Some petty issue that wasn't directly my fault resulted in a 2-day (24 hours for me) suspension! I do 500+ things right without recognition, and that's fine (and expected), but there was something similar I did 13 months ago, and since it involves the I.R.S., they HAVE to suspend me. OMG ... how long are infractions kept on one's record?! I know it's political, but I also know sovereignty, so I let blow my opinion and signed it. The (then, soon to be out) general manager offered to lower it to one day, but in my outrage, I demanded that it remain.
I am never late, always at least 15 minutes early, if not earlier, and I've yet to miss a day - on top of that, I've covered for other shift managers without pay, as we are on salary. I am not authoritarian by any means (my poop still stinks), and I am beloved by my co-workers. Alas, it is always about the guests (casinos do not have customers, we have guests!). Politics!
Politics, politics, politics! Maybe I should run for office, as many have been encouraging me to (I declined nominations the past two elections). I have a "son" to think of, and I will always put him first.

Damn Malfoy snuck in and apparently perched on Molly's tank lid and I was wondering why she hadn't eaten, got a good look/feel at the lid and Fatass has dented and yanked out some of the screen edge via, well, his overly large behind, pudgy bugger, I need to take the lid off and fix the fucking thing. I know it wasn't like that the day before, the tanks get checked lightly on a regular schedule. The balls are picky enough eaters as it is, no one wants a large feline eyeing you a foot away when you're in a vulnerable position. Next one is going to be a carpet python or some such, tends toward a much more aggressive feeding response. Be so much simpler to feed, trying to lure a ball into eating & everything has to be 'just right'. Much like inviting a maiden aunt for tea. Not sure how the hell Malfoy managed to sit there without getting caught in-the-moment, door remains closed for that very reason.

I hate fucking banks!!! Bunch of crooks. They service charge you up the ass but give you no service at all. I usually deposit large cheques into my TD account with no problem at all (been a customer there for almost 30 years), but today because it's an American funds cashiers cheque, drawn on an American Bank, they want to put a 30 day hold on it. Pissed me right off!!! They give fucking credit cards out to just anyone and happily charge up to 23% interest. Took the cheque to my credit union and they took it no problem.
I think I'll transfer all my business to my credit union. Bastards.

Don't get me started on banks. I bounced a house payment because my bank held one of my paychecks. Get this, the check was from an account with their bank! Plus I have a moneymarket savings account that would have more than covered the house payment. I usually keep a minimum amount in my checking account. Then they started processing debits daily, before they processed any deposits. I've deposited cash at 9am on a wednesday, had 3 debits on Wednesday all placed after 9am, and they've bounced them all! Then credited my deposit at 5pm and charged me 3 $35 overdraft fees! I've closed all of my accounts and switched to a credit union.

I know at the end of the day, I could get fired for this because this would be considered "stealing" but I really don't give a shit. I was taking out trash with another employee this morning and as we were doing it a homeless guy was in a box behind the dumpster, not only him but another guy and his dog. She looked so sweet, she was a pit bull and she was so sad looking as well. The other employee ripped open one of the boxes to throw away and it made a "pop" sound, where the dog got startled. So anyway these guys asked us not to call the Police and I wouldn't have anyway because they have it hard enough as it is. They left and I hope they come back because when the other employee went back into the store to grab more trash, I put a bag a dog food behind the box they were staying in.
We throw out bags of pet food merely based on it being open a lot of the time, nothing is actually wrong with it, it's just "contaminated." So I figured instead of it going to complete waste I did what I did. Like I said I could get into trouble or fired for this if I were caught somehow because it's considered "stealing", but again I don't really give a shit. I'd rather do something when I can instead of nothing.

Tonight I cleaned out my aquarium: scrubbed the algae, vacuumed the rocks, changed the water, the filter, rearranged their Easter Island giant head and plants, and even put on a new back picture., but they are swimming around all confused. I think they think they moved.

When I was a teenager, I had some serious episodes of depression which at some point turned really bad. I tried to take some medication, but it made me feel absolutely nothing at all and I hated that even more, so I stopped taking them. Not to mention that where I come from, depression is seen as an attention seeking / being a slaker - type of thing, which doesn´t really help. In the end, these episodes began to appear less and less and about 8-9 years ago they completely disappeared.
Now since last year, I started to feel down at times, but I thought it was just normal mood swings, maybe because I´m getting older or bored with the same routine each day or whatever other stupid reason. These feelings started to come around more often and the last one started probably a couple of months ago and it didn´t stop. I´m right back to being a teenager, the whole package: bad thoughts, not wanting to get out of bed, being grumpy at all times, pushing away everyone around me, just listening to music and cleaning the house to keep myself busy. It´s not like I want to die, but I´m just tired of life, in general. If it wouldn´t be for my dogs, I wouldn´t even get out of the house these days. The brain has such an incredible talent of fucking everything up, right?
Meh, this one will pass too, so no worries. I just wanted to write this down and get it out of me for some time.
