Re: Is male prostitution LEGAL?

You see it all the time in movies. Some guy in his car drives by a sidewalk and picks up a male prostitute. "Hey, need a ride? *wink wink*"

Does this happen in real life? Is male prostitution legal? If not, then are there really discreet male prostis out there walking at night looking for customers? How would one know?

In some places in some countries it is legal, in some places in some countries it is aggressively prosecuted and perhaps in most places in most countries there are laws that are not enforced.

Should prostitution be legalized?

What do you feel?

Re: Should prostitution be legalized?

Yes, absolutely. The criminalization of prostitution is a prime example of the way corrupt legislators subvert the system to their advantage. As they know if they legalized it, they'd have to pay more for it, due to the overhead costs of a storefront, license fees, etc. As obviously, prostitutes will have to pass their increased costs on to customers.

Re: Should prostitution be legalized?

Sex between two consenting adults is their business. If someone wants to buy, and someone wants to sell, its got nothing to do with anyone else. I'd never engage in prostitution as buyer or seller myself, but i don't have a problem with others doing so.

^^^^^^ This. Moreover, prostitution is legal The Netherlands.

Re: Should prostitution be legalized?

On the one hand, I believe that sex between 2 consenting adults, whether or not it's one buys one sells should not be anyone else's business to legislate.

But on the other hand, history has taught us well enough that many many many people in the past have been coerced and even forced into prostitution.

I'm actually conflicted about this issue.

But this is due in part to the fact that it is illegal. Right now prostitution can only happen on the streets, in back alleys, in shady places, or clandestinely. Legalizing would take it out of these places in my opinion. if it was less of a tabboo, then those being forced into it would be better equipped to fidn their way out. As it is now there's a bit of a vicious cycle, especially for those who are forced into prostitution (often times as a result of drug addictions their pimp/dealer have developed in them to keep them stuck in that life). If they go to the cops they're gonna get arrested, and all kinds of shit in their life is gonna be fucked up. Many don't come forward to police because of shame/ fear of prosecution etc.

Legalizing prositutuion would give the prostitutes a safe place to go for their job, probably a way to track and monitor so that people aren't being forced, and most importantly would eliminate the pimps (who are really the biggest problem in the whole issue) Plus there's all kinds of stupid costs related to fighting prostitution that could possibly be gotten rid of. I remember a lecture in my Criminal psych class one time about prostitution, and the costs and things... when you look at it, legalizing it would make the whole industry safer, would cut down on several types of crimes which tend to be closely linked to prostitution, and would allow cops to spend more time focusing on chil prostitution, and other cases where kidnapping is involved, instead of investigating every hooker on a corner.

But I'm rambling a bit. just my thoughts.

Re: Should prostitution be legalized?

definitely yes!! its they're own body that's being used so the government or anyone else has no say to that! but its still depends like taking drugs which is not legal because it will ruin someones life it may not be for the user but may also to the people around him so its understandable, but for prostitution being illegal its none sense?!

Re: Should prostitution be legalized?

Yes it should. Let's call it by its real name instead of some tired Leave It To Beaver age euphemism.

We wouldn't have such a crowded prison system if we repealed some lame laws passed by the Moral Guardians of this country

Re: Should prostitution be legalized?

Yes, it should be legalised. And drugs should be legalised.
And the police can free up their time to prevent bigger crimes.

Re: Should prostitution be legalized?

Yes. If you wanna use your own money to get sex from someone willing enough to loan their bodies for payment, why should I say no if you are consenting adults?

Re: Should prostitution be legalized?

It's the oldest profession in the world. Why not? IMO marriage is just legitimized prostitution anyways at least till the 20th century when women started to earn equality.

Re: Should prostitution be legalized?

It should absolutely be legal. People have the right to do whatever they want with their bodies, including rent them out for recreational purposes if they chose.

That is a crime like forced labour is a crime.
So this defense to banned prostitution is not a good one.
