London Olympics 2012

Re: Todays the Day! 2012 London Summer Olympics!

One thing I really dislike about the Olympics this year are all the delays in broadcasting. I know it's been a common thing in the past -- but almost everything is recorded and edited.

Does NBC think we would not be able to handle live broadcasts?

Also -- what happened to the Olympic flame? I watched a lot of the coverage over the weekend and nothing --- I did read that they moved it from the middle of the Olympic stadium floor -- but hey .... we all know that NBC has lots of videotape of it.

Why aren't they showing it?

I get your point...I prefer the delay myself.....I'd rather see the previously recorded events during NORMAL hours OUR time Vs trying to catch London time....

Poor Orozco in tears after the disasterous day the Americans had in the Team Finals, lets hope they do better in individual events. They just completely came apart after qualifying on top. My lasting impression of Orozco from the games is seeing him flat on his ass after failing to land a vault properly. I could just tell he was gonna cry any moment and lo and behold he did

But there's a difference. Canada broadcasts tape delay where multiple events are concerned, but they always preface it with an a 'recorded earlier announcement. Live events are still broadcast as they are happening. NBC apparently doesn't broadcast 'live' events live. It's all tape-delay.

I'll try to see if I can find the same event on both stations tomorrow and see if there is a significant time difference in them.

I just find it very strange -- it's like NBC thinks Americans can't handle adjusting their schedules or using DVR's to record what they would want to watch.

Re: Olympics coverage

Totally! Not to mention all the bugles in the little speedos and tight uniforms on the male gymnasts...love 'em!

Re: Olympics coverage

looking at michael phelps going for fail right now. he kinda has a nice ass. his body was better in 2008 though. dude is one of those guys that having a beard enhances his face though. looks like he won a medal though.

Re: Olympics coverage

I am in awe of the athletes. Win or lose they are amazing examples of the human form and abilities. I wish I could dig even a 10th of the dedication they have out of myself. When they have a bad performance you just want to say "Good God, do you realize you were incredible before you even got to London?" I feel really bad for Phelps because in his eyes it looks like he gave up. Lochte on the other hand was very exciting to watch. He has a real fire in his eyes.

Re: Olympics coverage

And this guy, Matt Grevers, is my new crush. He is just so adorable!

Re: Olympics coverage

Yeah Phelps isn't so hot anymore...but it is hard to hit gold and take a few bong hits.

I know everyone is wowing over the guys and me too but the best moments so far was the women gymnastics. The things they do are amazing.

Re: Olympics coverage

Did you watch that side by side with the parents in one frame and their daughter on the uneven bars in the other... it was priceless.

Re: Olympics coverage

I am all over Tom Daley. Now if only that were literally true... I know it's horrible to think but his walk made me wonder if he might not be gay :P

I can only imagine the pride they feel in their daughter. I'm so happy for them. It is so thrilling. I tear up at my kids' school plays.

They are moving it out of the way of in the areana of the Stadium when it will be ready for actual sporting events at the weekend! Having spent millions of £s a on a great theatrical event. Not sure how many of the world wide audience appreciaited it !
So next week hopefully the Olympic Flame will be on show again, to the World. Must admit however as a Brit I think overall it is a fantastic achievement! Will be there later this week to see it for real.
