London Olympics 2012

Re: The London Olympics Opening Ceremony

Just a simple question , how far can you really get that head of yours up your arse ? Have a lovely night .

Ha, I sort of had to laugh at this. With you I mean.

As for other comments, I think people need to remember that history is a journey not a destination. It's not good versus evil. The point of history is to see how people have travelled from dark, evil times to better times. Blaming someone for having a 16th century attitude in the 16th century is rather silly don't you think?

Re: The London Olympics Opening Ceremony

When ever I saw the Queen during the opening, she was scowling. No smiles, no waiving at the crowd. Perhaps we just did not see enough of her. But I wondered if she was feeling unwell. Or perhaps she did not realize the parachute drop was going to show her in bloomers. Or perhaps she did not like the socialist slant. Did the British get the impression she was unhappy?

I thought the Industrial Revolution was appropriate. No event in the history of the world has done more to raise the common person from poverty than the capitalism and its industrial revolution. The drift into socialism was less to be proud of. Imperialism is nothing to be ashamed of. It brought British civilization and democracy to many parts of the world, and the countries which formerly were British colonies are generally more stable and advanced than many others.

Re: The London Olympics Opening Ceremony

What i cannot fathom, is why so much importance you think should be placed on history, for a ceremony that opens the worlds biggest sporting event. The Olympics bring the world together to enjoy a four yearly event. I think the idea of an opening ceremony that shows a slice of history that has had a global impact, whilst not being negative and that then includes the modern technological advancement that brings the world together (the digital age), was rather inspired.

And you are wrong about the opera singer belting out the British anthem, the only way i'd have tears in my eyes, would be from rolling them out of their sockets at the pretentiousness of it.

What has apologising for our history got to do with anything either? WHO exactly are you saying is apologising? And for what? If you cannot focus on the 'good' in history, without avoiding the inevitable 'bad' which may accompany it, it becomes a rather sombre affair, rather defeatest for a celebratorial occassion.

I thought ya'll were talking about the Chinese swimmer who increased her swim time by five seconds in one year and while doing so swam faster than any man has ever swam the event. But the chinese did not dope.... lol

Fantasy Olympics

In ages past the Olympics had events such as the tug-of-war and a pigeon shoot with real pigeons. Where have all the fun games gone? Here are some suggestions for sports that should be included in the next Games:
1 Gurning (facial gymnastics)
2 Cup stacking, aka speed stacking (already well established internationally)
3 Staring to see who blinks first (imagine the tension with their faces projected on giant screens)
4 Throwing a ball over the roof of a house then running through and catching it before it lands (seen it done!)
Oh and of course. . .
5 Men's ancient Greek-style naked wrestling.
Any others?

You know, I've seen that both on TV and in person, and I've never really been impressed by it.

Any others?

Falconry

Jousting

Unicycle Jousting (yes, this is a thing)

Red Rover

Blitzball

Ear Pull

NASCAR, just for the laughs. Seriously, watching people freak out "omg nascar isnt a sport your just driving in circles! why is it the olympics?111" would be hilarious.

Re: Fantasy Olympics

Naked Men's Diving and Naked Men's Gymnastics please.

The women can keep their clothes on. Not interested.

Off to support Team GB tomorrow in the Olympic Park. They need all the support they can get!

Re: The London Olympics Opening Ceremony

And what's up with that poor Olympic flame? They keep shuffleing it too and fro and hiding it like an unwanted crazy uncle. What's up with that? It should be perched high atop a big hill or something, in clear view too all.

Re: Fantasy Olympics

Towel Hanging - See how many identical hand towels can be draped over the athlete's dicks before they fall all.

Quarter Butt Bounce - You know those butts you can bounce a quarter off of? Well, the challenge would be to determine whose butt cheeks can bounce a quarter the highest.

Cock Fencing - 'Hits' marked by pre-lube smears.

Ring Toss - Pretty-much self-explanatory.

Pec Gymnastics - Set to music with at least 3 different speeds. Winners determined by style, synchronization, and distance the nipples travel up and down.
