  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Lurkers Take Note!!!!

^^ Absolutely. Post your wild and looney thoughts -- you'd be surprised at hos often some of those inspire real insights others wouldn't have seen without your input.

As an example, I watched a show on The Learning Channel or something like it about a high-powered scientist and how he got so much research done, making little breakthroughs frequently. He said he has his assistants and grad students list "the stupidest ideas conceivable"... and frequently one of those turns out to be true, or to lead to the truth.

So give us your tired, your poor, your silly notions yearning to be free!

This is my first post, but I've been here for nearly 6 months. I come here to look around once a day or so. ;)

well I'm glad you finally posted!!

it can be addictive so be carefull ;)

Hi everyone, I’ve been here for a good six months or so, but only posted for the first time a very short while ago. I mostly come here at the end of the day when my head is too strained to continue working, and I can spend a good couple of hours reading through the threads. I think I may be a little bit of a compulsive reader; I just traded books for the internet I guess, so I’m left with very little energy to do some posting after that. And I have to be really compelled to post or talk about something. Plus I’m a little weird, or so they say…
In some way, I feel like I’m cheating somehow, as I do get to know about some of the regular posters here—as far as you can know about someone on the internet—but no one knows shit about me; I’m silently watching from the shadows, like a little pervert, hehe.
And I’m a little lazy, so I can’t assure myself I will continue posting or anything like that. Plus I’m not a native, so I have to spell-check everything, and watch my grammar too.
What worries me the most about posting is the possibility—very real—to go ignored, not to be attacked or flamed. I’m a big boy now, and I can take care of myself.
I really hope this thread enjoys a healthy life; I was hopping to see more posts from new people when I opened it. We’ll just have to wait I guess.

Serge

I just started posting after having forgotten about this site for like a year. and yes, i find it totally addictive.

That would be me. As the resident Green Lantern of the JUB sector it's my duty to look out for the little guy and newbies, or as I like to call 'em: Poozers.

And you needn't apologize for any thread kills. I think I've got about 60 or 70 threads I've killed. Most of those threads were my own!

And, in the event that GL247 is occupied in one sector of JUB, i'm the backup Green Lantern. I'm not nearly as adept as he is, but hey, i'm scrappy. ..|

Nonsense! If you weren't adept, the ring would not have chosen you!

And he looks soo hot in his uniform! Like you wouldn't believe!

What a fantastic idea for a thread ..|

Plus fine words from Riverrick - this is exactly what I used to do - type a message - read it - edit it - re-read it - edit some more - argue with myself as to its actual relevence - edit out anything that I thought might be miscontrued - HOLD BREATH - CLOSE EYES - HIT SUBMIT - and then wait . . . and wait . . . only for the finely thought out point to be seemingly ignored! And then I found the "comments" section and it seemed people had been reading all along.

To those lurkers still not "out" be assured you are not alone in this feeling and I know its a cliche but it DOES get easier - This message has only taken me 20 minutes to type and edit (!) Yeah me.

I tend to do the majority of my postings in the comments area.

I'd just like to mention that if you're a lurker and you don't WANT to post, you don't have to.

Some people are quite content to stay out of the spotlight, so, don't feel pressured or OBligated to post if you don't want to.

Each according to their way, and we'll not think any less of you.

A (*8*) for the NONposters.

Or for fun, post things like this:

Remember there are silent types reading your words!

This isn't really a post. It's letters and words, that's all.

If you knew I was here, would you have written what you just did?

LURKER ALERT!!!

What's it worth to any of you to get me to post?

and other things to keep us aware or on our toes!

Well.... between the "Hello Lawnmowerman,
Our records indicate that you have never posted to our site before! Why not make your first post today by saying hello to our community in our Introductions forum. Why not start with your first post today and become an active part of JustUsBoys.com Gay Community now!", and now this thread, and the fact that I've been here lurking since 2005 (CAN'T have been that long!), I SUPPOSE there is no reason I shouldn't have been posting.

I belong to various other forums (non-gay related), and have never really posted there either. I guess I feel that I've never had much to offer anyone, in real life or in cyberspace. I have some issues that need to be dealt with, and this may help or hinder that.

Now, to gather up the strength and click "Submit Reply".

(C'mon, click it, c l i c k it, CLICK, DAMMIT!) :help:

I've always dreamed of the day when I would ascend to the rank of sugar daddy... or whatever it's called. But as many people, I enjoy just catching up on the day's or week's events. Other times I will engage in conversation with people I like (Hi Elvin!). Though I have to admit, I ALWAYS check my comments section. So leave me comments, damn it!

Ow, the superfluousness. It burns.

Let's see...member for just over a year. Three posts. I suppose that qualifies. Usually I lurk due to not much time available to spend writing posts.

Anyway, I'm among those implored to "take note." The exceedingly feeble response is "what note should I take?" Is B-flat available? That's my favorite.

I have a relatively low post count, considering I'm one of THE ORIGINAL members of this site (shameless plug, I know). I do still lurk a lot, rarely start threads, and post when I feel the need to express something.
This was a good topic to start, as there are many here who should be encouraged to participate.

:-)

Guilty as charged - I've posted sporadically but I lurk more often than I post.

I've read some truly interesting discussions on this board and I will try to post more often. :D

Thanks for the encouragement!

Scott

I've been here for over a year and a half and I still lurk way more than I post. Part of it is because I am one of the older guys on here, and I do detect quite a bit of ageism from some of the younger guys. Some seem to think that the older guys should just curl up and crawl into a hole. I guess they don't want to think about the fact that they'll be old and gay someday,too--if they are lucky that is! Am I automatically a troll just because of my age? I'm not looking for hookups on this site, just friends and a sharing of ideas.Fortunately, there are a lot of good people here on JUB who do not judge your posts by how old you are!..|

i have a hard time posting because i don't what to post because my day's the same everyday.

Just read and respond. Depending where you are, stay on topic.
Go to Fun and Games and free yourself -- there are threads that will be right for the wildest random thoughts you might have... open yourself to warped reality.
Go to Current Events and Politics, and make your views known. Dis a politician, suggest a radical new policy.
Start a new thread in Hot Topics -- something that pissed you off, or delighted you, or excited you, that someone else might have an opinion about.

I think I posted a dozen times before anyone responded... I think maybe one in six threads I've started lived beyond ten posts.
But you keep throwing things out there! Someone will get to know you that way, and you can have a good time along the way.

Your day may be the same every day, but I'll bet your thoughts aren't, and your hopes and dreams must be worth talking about!
