I am having a major problem with my mom and dad, right now... They are planning to take the family to Dubai for Christmas 2009, however, I don't want to go to Dubai again. I have discussed this with her, but she told me that if I don't want to go to Dubai with the family, that I'll be spending Christmas without the family - cuz they are dead-set on going

What should I do?

Please help!!!

Stay at home or go.

Christmas without the family will probably not be much fun. Why don't you want to go to Dubai?

So stay home and spend Christmas without them. I wouldn't go to Dubai if it were an all expense paid free trip.

I don't want to go because THEY ARE FLYING COACH the whole way to Dubai! And, I didn't have any fun last year. I just lounged around the hotel room.

I assumed it was to do with the anti-gay stuff. But it's because of your airline seats? Wow.

uhh, excuse me... but it's not fun flying half-way round the world in COACH! I did it last year, and I will never do it again.

I spent 16 hours across two days on a bus with a broken toilet, sat in a window seat next to a little kid whose mother was down the other end of the bus, with no battery on my MP3 player; just so I wouldn't miss a meeting in London. And I get travel sick, so I couldn't even read a book on the journey. And if I'd been told about this meeting earlier, I could've took that journey down to 5hrs, but noooo...

Suck it up, man. So Dubai isn't your idea of a holiday, stay home. I'd love to have your idea of major family trouble, in a week where two of my friends have been thrown out of their parents houses (at the ages of 17 and 19), where I've been not on speaking terms with my own...

Oh, and because of the credit crunch, I can't even get a fucking WORKING holiday this year. You're complaining about a couple of weeks lazing around in sunshine... isn't that what a holiday IS?

Get the sun lotion out, come back with a tan, and cheer up! Geez. Or don't. Stay at home, hang with your friends, hell, even save up and go somewhere else in the states just for kicks. Hostels and domestic airlines make that incredibly easy to do - trust me, I've done it and had a fucking great time.

hmm, now that you put it like that - it doesn't sound sooo bad. I really must give this some thought.

"Forced"... as if you can't tough it out alone at home or in coach with the family...

...god you sound spoiled as shit.

And... Travisevian... when did i become someone's... favorite... something..?

I don't even KNOW YOU, but you have been leaving me Nasty comments on anything that I post! So what if my problems are different than yours!?? I am NOT SPOILED! You don't know me, so, I will kindly ask that you stop leaving nasty comments.

Thank you

Argh your parents pay for your house?

I'm 4 years younger than you and I pay for my own house.

He's just blunt, not nasty. Trust me. And honestly? You are sounding a bit spoiled. It's really up to them where they take you. I was pleased when my mum and dad suggested they'd take me along to portugal with them, and even then my dad insisted I pay for the flights. And my dad's one of the few people who hasnt really been hit hard by the credit crunch (his job is based on a legal requirement, so companies kinda have to hire him regardless) meaning we can afford it fairly comfortably.

And even THEN I consider myself a bit spoiled, because my mum pays for my groceries, AND I pick up ice cream on our shopping trips.
